 Why Certain Places Have Certain Foods Weather, land, and natural resources can favor the production of a certain food or crop, like mangoes in Africa, dates in California, United States, and apples in the mountains of Lebanon. Culture and religion can prevent you from eating or drinking, like in Islam, they are not allowed to drink alcohol, and eat pork. In India, most people do not eat cow, because they worship them. So there are places which are famous for a food or drink, and places that are famous for not allowing a food or drink.
