PC To RSG
PC To RSG
I can relate to Ji-Li Jiang in many ways. The one I liked the best was when she is going into Junior High. I was very excited to finally be moving on to Middle School. The school was bigger and we finally got to change classes! Ji-Li was excited too but for a different reason. She wanted to get away from all the people that were holding her back from her full learning potential. Still, we were both excited for the new school year. When I got to Middle School, I found out it wasn’t that great. Also I didn’t like switching classes because I was so used to just staying in one class for the whole day. Now we had to change classes for every subject. It was very hard to get used to. The rules were also a lot stricter than it was in elementary school. I was in 6th grade the smallest grade in the school, so all the older kids intimidated me. There was a whole different scenario for Ji-Li. She figured out she couldn’t go to Middle School of her choice, but when she finally got to the alternate Middle School she was very disappointed because most of the stupid people were back in her class. Ji-Li and I had different Middle School experiences, but we can still relate to each other.
Another connection to Ji-Li that I have is how we think about or family. Ji-Li loves her family and she said she would do anything to protect them. I love my family too and I have a younger sister and sometimes I feel really protective of her. Family is very important to me, without my family I don’t know what I would do. Ji-Li felt the same way during and after the cultural revolution.
