Hooked on California

Imagine going to college at a place with beautiful weather, a beautiful campus, and a beautiful state; that’s where I visited this past summer. Stanford University’s Campus! My parents, my brother, and I drove from San Francisco to Los Angeles. In my own little summer adventure to California, we began by flying out of my small city of Lafayette to Houston. Next, we flew on over to the Entertainment Capital of the World, Las Vegas. And finally, we flew to the Golden Gate City of San Francisco.
By the time we landed, it was about 2:00 in the morning and everyone was very tired. We rented a car, drove to a hotel, near Stanford University’s Campus, and then dropped dead. The next morning we had to get up early to drive south on Route 1 to Stanford University. This is my favorite university out of all of the prestigious Ivy League schools that I have seen and visited.
Stanford University has a very large campus, and it is as if it has its own city. One can do many things inside this city. We drove many miles within the campus and visited multiple buildings on foot, with a student guide leading us around. I think I fell in love with Stanford. For lunch, we went to eat at a restaurant, called California Pizza Kitchen; then we headed back to Stanford again. This time we visited the Student Union, and multiple dormitories. There were many students on bicycles, the main means of transportation around campus.
I loved Stanford University, because of its perfect weather, awesome campus, and wonderful faculty. After we left, we headed south on Route 1, which is supposed to be one of the most beautiful roads in the U.S. After a while of driving and multiple stops to absorb the beautiful scenery of the mountains and the beaches, we reached a small town named Morro Bay. This is where we stayed the night. We did a little sightseeing, had dinner, and found a hotel to sleep at.
The next day, we drove south again on route 1. Our plan was to make it to Los Angeles in 2 more days, because my brother had a meeting there, and my dad had to fly back to his work in Lafayette. We drove until we came upon the beach of the Sea Lions, where these creatures come to rest and refuge. Many people were there to visit the lions. After a short visit, we returned to our car and headed back south again. Once again, we stopped multiple times to take in the beauty of the nature surrounding us. After a few hours, we reached the attractive city of Monterrey. Our hotel was within walking distance of the beach, and so we played down by the beach for a long time, went to dinner, and enjoyed each other’s company. Next it was time to sleep.
The following day, we drove for about 200 miles, before we had a pit stop in a small city in the mountains, had some ice cream, and drank a milkshake on the road. For lunch, we stopped at the attractive city of Santa Barbara. After lunch, Los Angeles here we come. Finally we had made it to our final destination. Our road trip was finally over. We flew home after a few days of vacationing in California. I had gotten hooked on California and Stanford University.

RSG China Revolution Personal Connection II

Article posted October 13, 2011 at 02:52 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 81

The Cultural Revolution of China has much to do with me, no matter how indirect it is. With Chairman Mao Taking over, Chiang Kai-shek the formal ruler of China, a nationalist, fled to Taiwan, as did many of his followers and nationalists. My grandparents were nationalists who followed Chiang Kai-shek to Taiwan. My mother was later born in Taiwan and was raised there. She later in life moved along with her family to the country of many opportunities, America. My favorite opportunity was that she moved to Louisiana to study at UNO where she met my father. Yep, you guess it, I said my father. They got married and had 2 children, Nikka my older brother and me. Also, if my grandmother and grandfather never left China, I would have never been born, or if I was, I would be very different, like speaking a different language, living most probably in China, as well as having different customs and would believe in a different religion.
Also, I am personally connected to pg 158, with the theme of starting all over, when Ji-Li Jiang got into her new classroom in Junior High School, she knew no one and she was happy about that, because she could start with a clean slate. I like that you can start anew, because if you did something that you are not proud of, basically you can start a new life, and no one will know about the little incident.

About the book

Article posted March 4, 2011 at 12:27 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 217

This book is not like other books that I have read. It is about owls. Other books are about other things, but never owls. They are similar because they can talk. An animal is the main character (human is an animal).
I think that this is a good book so far. It is the 12th in the series.
I haven't really gotten far enough to concern the conflict yet.
It still is not very related because the book is about owls

As you Begin

I think that the book is going to be about Coryn looking for his true identity.
I would get along with Soren and Coryn the best because they are the most modest of the group and they are very friendly.
I think that Coryn will have to face his mother again and fight some of her followers.
I can't really think of many connects with this book because it is about owls. In the book humans have existed and they are known as the others, but they seem to be extinct or something.
