“Oh no! The terrible horrible substitute is going to take Mrs. Noshie’s place while she’s in Bangkok! She’s going to kill us!”shouted the students. BANG! CRASH! BANG! In came the substitute. The students stood up in fear. Mrs. B, the terrible horrible substitute teacher, had always been very expecting. She always expected the students to stand up in her presence. “We will start with the sugar cube experiment! Come stand in line you filthy brutes! You’re going to get three sugar cubes each.” “Umm, will we get to eat them?” asked a very afraid student crouching down low, almost disappearing beneath the desk. “first of all,” said the substitute, “get up from under that desk and stand up straight! Second of all, YOU ARE NOT GOING TO EAT THEM! NOT ONE SINGLE LICK! I’M GOING TO EAT THEM ALL,” she paused to lick her lips, “SO, DO YOU UNDERSTAND?” “Yes Ms. B. I understand,” the child whispered. When a student finally got something right, Ms. B said “Bravo!” and the child almost fainted of happiness from the praise while all the other students looked at her enviously. “I mean,” Ms. B cleared her throat, “YOU BETTER DO BETTER NEXT TIME YOU HEAR ME?”

I came into class looking very nervous.
“Could I please have your test back?” asked the teacher.
“Umm, I forgot it at home,” I replied, blushing.
The teacher gave me a very exasperated look.
“This is the seventh time you forget to hand in the test in a row!”
“Sorry,” I replied meekly, “it’s not my fault I forget things!”
The teacher glared at me, “Don’t talk back to me young lady. And yes, it is your fault you forget things. I will have to send for your parents.”
“Umm, hi mum, there is something I need to show you you,” I said, nervously, as I pulled the test out of my bag and showed it to my mum
“Oh no! You got a 54% on your science test and you failed?” cried my mom, as she started taking deep breaths while counting to ten.
“Come on mum, it’s just one lousy science test! It’s doesn’t matter,” I mumbled, biting my lip.
“No, it does matte…”
I interrupted her and said, “It doesn’t matter mum, No big deal!”

Mrs. Noshie gave us three science topics to choose from; The Layers of the Sun and two others. I chose The Layers of the Sun. I had to research all about my topic and write about it. I typed it up on my alphasmart then downloaded it into the computer. I recorded it and downloaded some pictures from different sites. Then, I made my clip! (It took a lot of work!)

Books are wonderful. If I had to choose between TV, computer, or books, I’d choose books big time. It’s in my blood. I automatically love them. So what’s so special about books?
While you’re reading, they take you to a different world. Dragons, queens and kings. Princesses, princes, knights. Peasants, gods, fairies, superheroes and much much more. If you’re really into the book, and let’s say your mom calls you to dinner, then you might not hear her because you’re really into that book.
When I was very young, my mom and dad would read to me every single day. I think that’s probably why I love reading so much. I even still like people reading to me out loud because I can visualize what’s going on. At home, I get my parents to read to me. Books also make you smart. You can learn all about animals. You can even become an expert in spelling.
Also, when I am frustrated, mad, or sad, I sometimes go to my room, pick up a book and start reading. That makes me feel much better.
So I think it’s probably clear to you why I love reading so much. It transports me to a different world, my parents have read to me all my life, and it calms me. On top of that, Books make you smart. So if you ever need to calm down, try reading a book!

Mrs. Noshie gave us three different kinds of data and we were asked to recognize which type of graph matched which type of data. After that, we had to draw the graphs and hope we matched the right type of data with the right graph.

One day in the beginning of March, we were in the mountains. A dog that ran away from his owners came to our house. We think that the dog scared Samba, our kitten, away. When we found out that Samba ran away we were all very sad. My sister and I cried. All my family called for Samba. At the end of the day, we had to go back to Beirut. While we were going down to Beirut we called again for her but we didn’t find her. We all hoped that she found a good home. We found Samba the next time we went up to the mountains, she was hiding in my cousin’s house.
