“So, I’m going to throw away Ms. Noshie’s schedule,” starts the dreadful substitute teacher, “and we are just going to do something else!” I roll my eyes. I say to myself, not again. Our substitute, Ms. B, is doing various things with us, completely off schedule, despite how Ms. Noshie was working on it for her whole Spring Break! She was working on it for us to use, not to throw it away!
It’s Science now. We have to learn about geology. We had to take 3 sugar cubes, a cup, some pebbles, and a small piece of cardboard. The nasty substitute teacher gives us papers about ‘Erosion’. The very next day, she says, “Oops, I mixed up the papers yesterday! I was supposed to give you ‘Weathering’ before ‘Erosion’!” Oh my goodness. How could she even do that? Ms. Noshie is going to feel very indignant when she comes back from Bangkok that she spent all this time working on what we have to do, and Ms. B spent all this time messing it up!

Chocolate, crisps, sweets, yummy! They are my favorite. I would love to have that for school lunch! Even though they are my favorite foods, I can
mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"">’t have them for school! That’
mso-bidi-font-family:GothicE">s unfair. They’
mso-bidi-font-family:GothicE">re not allowed! But they don
mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"">’t make that rule just for the fun of it; they make it because it

Unhealthy snacks like crisps, chocolate etc., are called ‘

mso-bidi-font-family:GothicE"> for a reason! It’
mso-bidi-font-family:GothicE">s like putting rubbish in your body. It doesn

mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"">’s in there is sugar and sometimes artificial colors and flavors. Yuck!

mso-bidi-font-family:GothicE"> Look at the ingredients in your snack. Is sugar the first or second ingredient? If so, then it’
mso-bidi-font-family:GothicE">s considered more of an unhealthy treat than a snack. Try fruits and vegetables for a change. They can taste just as nice. They can taste even better sometimes.
Eating unhealthy can cause a stomach ache, cavities, pimples and many other things, since unhealthy food doesn’

Now do you see why they aren’

Students have been writing expository text since September. The focus has been on the characteristics of the genre, and a number of different styles within the genre. In Writers Workshop, the focus has been on Ideas and Organization, and a beginning has been made into Sentence Fluency. This particular writing piece was an assessment to see to what extend students can plan and execute a text independently, including the formatting (which was up to their choice, for a change). Written on December 17, 2012, this was a timed assignment. This is the result.

Every day we have to read for half an hour. We have to write how many pages we have read, then we have to write a vocabulary word that we don't understand or an interesting word if we understood all the words. We have to write them down, look them up in the dictionary and then write a sentence using the words. We have written down all our vocabulary words since September on a word doccument and copied them onto a website called, "Wordle". These are all my vocabulary words.

I was so full of energy when I was in the bus to go to Deir El Qamar. Deir el Qamar is a forest in the mountains. Deir el Qamar has pine cedar trees. I go to Deir el Qamar with my class. We went for an overnight trip. We go there every year to see the nature. But Deir el Qamar was so tiring! Want to know why?
In Deir el Qamar, we did a two hour hike which got is very tired. Then we started running and chasing each other and that makes us even more tired. We got to rest, but only for a few minutes. I was very, very tired at that point.
Some people got no sleep because people in other tents kept on talking constantly and that kept us awake for about an hour. Then there were also weird noises that caused people to stay awake for about half an hour. We had no sleep and the next day we had to do loads of activities.
The next day, it was too hot to do activities. We were all out of breath and even so, we had to do a couple more activities before we left. Even if it wasn’t in the heat, we would have been really tired.
Deir el Qamar was a very nice trip but when I got home I went straight to bed. I slept like a baby!I even missed diner! I slept from 2PM-5:30AM! I hope next time we go, we get more sleep, and less activities.

I love fizzy drinks. They are so sweet and refreshing. I wish I could drink them every day. But there is just one problem; fizzy drinks are bad for you! But why are they so bad?
Fizzy drinks are bad for your health. They are full of sugar that stays between your teeth. The sugar can start to give you cavities. The gasses can also give you a stomach ache. You wouldn’t want that now, would you?
You can also get addicted to it! Some fizzy drinks have chemicals that can make you addicted to it, which will make you want to drink it every day.
Hmm… So you want to have a fizzy drink before you start to exercise? Nuh-uh! Not a good idea! Having a fizzy drink before you start exercising can give you a bad cramp! A cramp so bad, that you won’t be able to do your morning run!
It’s okay to have a fizzy drink once in a while, but try not to drink too many! It’s not healthy, it can give you a bad stomach ache, and it’s addictive and can give you a bad cramp.
Fact: Do you know why they called it ‘7 UP’? The 7 is because 7UP used to be 7 ounces. The UP indicates what direction the bubbles are going. That’s why they called it 7 UP! JJJ

In this math assignment, we were given a piece of paper with 3 sets of data. We had to choose the graph that fits best with the sets of data. The 3 sets of data were a line graph, a bar graph and a stem and leaf plot. I enjoyed this assignment

I was following my brother down the sidewalk on my bike. My mom was following behind us while we were chasing each other.
My brother and I were going so fast we couldn’t see my mom anymore! My brother and I were getting worried. We also felt a lump in our throats. We zoomed back, but we couldn’t find mom. We got even more afraid. Our knees were trembling, and our hands were sweating. “We’ve lost her,” my brother said. I believed him. Even though I did, I said, “Don’t worry, we’ll find her, we always do.” Though I was calming my brother down, I was still worried myself.
Later, we were riding more slowly instead of how fast we were going before. We were going slowly for two reasons. The first reason was so we could look for my mom more carefully, and the second reason was that our knees were trembling too much to pedal. We continued the search.
When we got tired, we looked for a bench to sit on, and there she was, our mom. We were so happy to find her. “How about we go and get some ice cream?” she said. My brother and I nodded our heads rapidly. So, I guess this was myHAPPY ENDING.

Stitches
By OS
One hot day, Ilo and I were playing outside at a restaurant. Ilo sat on the chain that closes the car park and started swinging. CRASH! He fell backwards and hit his head on the hard, wet floor just where there was a broken metal piece. He started screaming and kicking his legs. I saw blood coming out from the back of his head and there was a small puddle on the floor.
I rushed to my mum, speedy quick! My heart was racing, I was shocked and scared. I looked behind me to see Ilo crying and before I knew it I was running faster than I had ever run before. I was thinking, “Oh my goodness! What am I going to do?” My knees were tingling, my throat was hurting, my hands were sweating. Mum rushed to pick him up and then we slid into a big, black taxi. I was worried.
When we reached the hospital we went into the doctor’s office, his name was Dr. Mohammad. He said that Ilo was going to have stitches. And then the stitching began. They wrapped him up like a mummy in a yellow blanket so he couldn’t move. Dr. Mohammad asked us to leave the room.
I heard Ilo crying inside the room. I was standing at the entrance of the door and when he came out he was still crying. I saw four blue strings coming out from the back of his head. At first I thought that they weren’t connected to his head but when I looked at him I saw that those were the stitches.
