A Wish…
By: Jana
I sit down,
Next to a peaceful well
And one by one,
I start plopping in
The 5 coins I had.
A wish to live in peace
A wish to stop bullying
A wish for all people to have equal rights
A wish where the world is a safe place
But I stop and think…
IS the world going to be peaceful?
IS bullying going to go on forever?
IS everyone going to have equal rights?
IS the world going to be a safe place?
So for my last wish…I wish the world to start caring.
Were my wishes wasted?
That is a question only YOU can answer!

I’m reading the book The Silver Bowl. It’s a book that can be absolutely NOT put down! Read The Silver Bowl, and trust me, you will not be disappointed.
Molly’s life was never normal, and never WILL be! Molly has forever been experiencing paranormal things. Like spooky voices telling her what to do, strange shadows that can’t be identified, and lots more. While Molly is unwanted at home, she decides to work for the royal family, as a humble scullery maid. She arrives at the castle with no manners whatsoever.
As Molly is getting used to her new surroundings, and showing improvement at work, she is promoted to polishing silver, and is given a priceless royal treasure to work on: the king’s hand basin. But there’s something odd about it. It warms to Molly’s touch, and the creepy voices keep telling her to pay attention, and listen. Then, dreadful visions start to appear.
Three words: best book EVER! This is an official member of the page flipping academy whatever you do, you just CAN’T STOP READING!!!! I would choose this book (and maybe Tuck Everlasting) over ANY book in the world!

I’m reading the book Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt. Its an amazing fiction book full of wonder, mystery, and a great load of adventure. After you’ve read it, it keeps you thinking… what if you could live forever??
What if you could live forever? This is a question Winnie has to ask herself one day, while she’s roaming around the woods. There, she meets a boy named Jesse. She see’s him drinking from a nearby spring, and thirsty herself, she decides to take a sip. They start talking, and he tells her he’s 104 years old. At first, of course Winnie doesn’t believe him. She asks if she can drink from the spring and he stops her just in time. No! He shouts! Just then, Jesse’s mom (Mae Tuck) flings Winnie on to the horse. Where are you taking me? Cries Winnie I want to go home! Finally, after miles of driving, they arrive at the tucks house, where Mae tells Winnie the whole story; of how when they drank from that spring, they found out they can live forever.
That’s why Jesse stopped me, Thought Winnie. And he was really 104 years old! But they didn’t want anyone to know about their secret. Mae welcomed Winnie in, and they started bonding. Winnie liked the Tucks, she really did. So just as things were turning up, they heard a knock on the door. Knock, knock, knock!! A man in a yellow suit appeared. He says that he knows the Tucks. Somehow, they’re related. He says he heard them tell the story, of how the Tucks could live forever! He was going to sell the water in the spring! Cause now, it belonged to him. Winnie’s mom had traded the woods for Winnie’s return! What’s going to happen to the Tucks secret? Is it going to remain a secret, or will the world know? Find out and read the book!
Winnie: a normal every day kid. She’s curious, because she when the music started playing, she wanted to know from where it was coming from. Shy, because when she met Jesse, she was really shy in-front of him. And finally, she’s determined, because whatever she puts her mind to, she can do it!
This book is just like your buying a toaster from the store. All new. You take it home, and decide to have some toast. At the beginning, your just waiting for the toast to pop up. When it does, you feel excitement run up your spine. You take a BIIIIIG bite!! Hmmmmm… that was a good ending!

I am reading the book “THE MIDNIGHT TUNNEL” by angie Frazier. It was written in 2011, New York City. Published by scholastic press.
A young sleuth suzanna snow new brunswik citizen had always dreamed of becoming a detective just like her unkle bruce. But there is always some bad news! Her parents own a hotel called the rosemount. So instead of living the dream, she’s stuck serving trays of tea, and learning how to become a proper lady just like her mom. But every thing changes one day during a ferocious thunder storm, a hotel guest seven year old maddie cook goes missing. Suzanna is sure she has some clues that lead to maddie, but as the mystery grows, everything is not what it seems. Can susanna prove that she is a real sleuth or is she stuck at the rosemount forever?
This is an amazing book I could feel the emotions in the story, and I loved how most of it was show not tell.
Character Analysis
Suzanna: She is brave because when Penelope was drowning, Suzanna went after her although she doesn’t know how to swim. She was smart when she noticed that the mermaid sculpture scales were different. And she was curious and determined when she snuck away at night, although she knows she will get her self into trouble.
Isaac: A nature lover, sea lover, a kid hater, and a liar. He loves the ocean because he is a fisher, he hates kids cause the threatened maddie to put her in a fishing net. And a liar because he lied to `Suzanna about searching for maddie.
Mr. Johnson is a mean selfish old man. He works as a sculpture. Suzanna feels that he is mysterious in some way. He is mean because he always that way to Suzanna, like when she ignored her when she was asking him if he wanted some tea. He is selfish because he is always showing off his money, and how much he has.
This is an interesting paragraph I found that would hook up the readers:
The rattling of the wooden steps leading to the servants house interrupted me, and then the door swung wide. A flash of lightning flooded the tunnel, blinding me. Tears filled my eyes and I blinked away a school of white halos to regain my vision. As it started to return, I saw in the doorway the silhouette of two skinny legs and a scallop-trimmed nightdress, blacked out against another dazzling burst of lightning. Whoever it was, was jerked to the side, pulled hard by someone I couldn’t see, and then the door slammed.
Vocab. Words
1-Exuded: to exhibit in abundance.
2-Disowned: someone who is banned from his/ her country.
3-Solitude: the state of being alone.
4-Vigorously: done with force and energy.
5-excrvciating: intensely painful of depressing.
I hoped you like my report!

How to make Hashbrowns.
I hope you enjoy learning about how to make this tasty breakfast.
First you will need a peeler and shredder, potatoes, a pot with water, a plastic pot,an electric griller, a knife, salt, vegetable pepper, and a tray
After you’ve gathered the ingredients, heat the water for 15 mins on your stove. Next peel the potatoes and cut them in half. After that, put the cut potatoes in the heated water. But don’t boil them for too long (15 mins). After they are done and cooled of, start shredding them with your shredder. Then add the pepper and salt to start mixing them. Then form them into flat circles. Next, place them on your electric grill, and wait for them to fry but be careful, they should have a golden color on one side before you flip them. Enjoy!

The Great Migration.
By: Jacob Laurence
The African Americans migrated to the north for many reasons. Here are some of the examples: they wanted better salaries, better housing, and better jobs; not to mention freedom. Freedom is something everyone should have, but unfortunately they didn’t have it. They also migrated for better schooling for their kids. Plus, they were treating them in disdain. And although they were promised to have a better life, not all of their dreams came true. And as for jobs, the Africans had to compete with others to get their jobs! I hated how they kept stereotyping them for their skin color. But at least they had the freedom to vote. I feel really bad for them. And we integrated this in our morning meeting not to judge a person by their cover, or facial appearances.

Do you always wonder what causes hiccups? Then count to ten hold your breath and enjoy this non fiction story.
The thing to blame is your diaphragm this is a muscle at the bottom of your chest, and all hiccups start here. When you inhale, it pulls down to help pull air into the lungs. When you exhale, it relaxes and air flows out of the lungs. But sometimes, it becomes irritated. What happens is that it pulls up, which makes you SUCK air into your throat suddenly. When air hits your voice box your left with a big hiccup! Now you know what causes hiccups, but do you know what a hiccup is? A hiccup is a kind of forced intake of breath. The “hic” noise comes when the breath is cut off by the snapping shut of your Glottis witch is like a fleshy lid that separates the food and air tubes in your throat. You want to laugh? Here it comes…. We don’t exactly KNOW what hiccups are for, but scientists think they can be a kind of malfunction in the nerves.Who knows?! Is this question still stirring in your head? Hiccups are useless then? Maybe or maybe not!! They might be useless to us, but not to animals!! In fact, hiccups help animals swallow! I know, I didn’t belive it at first either!!! And as for the symptoms, of course are obvious:just watch for the hiccup!!! Tired of hearing them escape from your mouth all day? Then here is how to get rid of them. For COMMON hiccups, there are usually THOUSANDS of “cures” for them, but here is what you could try:1- eat a raw chilli pepper,2- hold your breath for 15 seconds, 3-get someone to scare,or distract you 4- drink water until your full. I hope this works, or I don’t know what you’ll do!! That’s it for today!

Read this letter if you want to know what people like about leaders, you better read this or…. Yeah, you’re not going to get voted! Dear pres. I am solo glad you were elected! You have all the qualities a leader can want. Unlike the other leaders, you are modest and never arrogant .Plus, if the others were elected, I would never have trust in them! They’re not trust worthy, nor smart, or kind. As for you Mr. President deserves to be elected! You’re helpful and I bet you will sacrifice your time and dignity for your country and as for the others; they might have not sacrificed a second of their time, spending all of it, on bragging about how rich they are now! And I know, that you will provide safe shelter too the unprivileged and in chance your countries weak points gracefully not be forced to do it! Unlike the other presidents, that I bet won’t even think about that! And in conclusion you will listen to your country’s needs, and improve them, not only hear them. And your speech was great by the way! PS: I was soooooo glad you were voted oh, I already said that! LOVE:JANA

This story explains how a drop of blood travels around our amazing heart. Have you ever wanted to be a drop of blood? If you have, then enjoy “The Bloods Journey”.“Hey guys guess what? My parents said they are taking me to an amusement park (as the little drop of blood calls it!)”Were here” ”cool hey m… mom why are you worried, mom? Ahhhhhhhh! Yeah, this isn’t an amusement park! Please I want to go back to the Bone Marrow the bone that made me.” Later in the Superior vena cava…”hello? Is anybody here? Am still deoxygenated when am I going to be cleaned? It’s dark, its scary what do I do?” Plump “well that answers my question or not. Ewwwwww it’s slimy what this place is? Ohm, this must be the Right atrium.Hey guys, what are you doing here? “Our….” “Let me guess your parents told you, you were going to and an amusement park?” They nodded “ahhhhhhh did you see that? We just went through the tricuspid valve the valve between the right atrium and the right ventricle. Slump speaking of right ventricle…. Here we are! Another tunnel? It’s the pulmonary artery (which is the only artery that carries CO2.) It will take us to the lungs. When the human breathes, the oxygen goes to through us, and that’s how we become oxygenated blood. All right I’m clean now is this ride over?” Poor guy, he still thinks he’s in an amusement park! “Wait, Im still pale, how do I get my color? Here comes the hemoglobin. The hemoglobin carries the nutrients and Iron used, to make us red. “Weeeeee” that’s more like it”! We enter the only vein that carries oxygenated blood from the lungs from the lungs to the Left atrium. Look! The mitral valve is opening! Let’s hurry to the left ventricle. Wuppeeeeee! What a big jump! The left ventricle must have pumped us into the aorta. (The aorta is the biggest and longest artery in the body. It carries the oxygen/rich blood to all body parts.) “Finally! Again? Oh Oh……!
