JA -- My Pony

Article posted December 16, 2010 at 08:40 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 1119

My Pony

One day I was in the mountain with my mom and my brothers. We had one horse and two ponies. The horse’s name was Sannua and the first pony was black and white. Her name was Sussie and the second one was white and gold and her name was Pondor.

We took them in a garden in front of the house. They ate and played. My brother Nicolas rode Pondor. I wanted to try it too, so I went on Sussie and she did not like it, so she bumped and tromped and threw me off!

My foot got stuck onto the rope on her face and I said “Uh, oh”. Then she started to run! I was grabbing the grass to stop her, but it was no use. I said “Mommy help me”! I was so scared!

Finally my brother George took off my shoe. I crawled to my mom while I was crying. I saw my knee and it was filled with blood. We went to the house and washed it and put on a bandage.

The next day we went to Beirut and I felt better.

LA -- When I Slipped Off The Boat

Article posted December 15, 2010 at 09:40 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 1034

When I Slipped Off The Boat

My mom’s friend invited my mom, my sister, my mom’s best friend, and I to go for a boat ride. I was about seven years old. I was excited, but didn’t show it because I thought it would be cancelled like usual.

We went down to the boat and I had to jump on because the stairs were too far away. I asked my mom if there was any food and she said, “Yes.” I went down to the kitchen and ate some cookies.

Then my sister asked me if I want to lay down on the front of the boat. I said, “Yes.”  My sister went to the front of the boat. I went to the front of the boat and I slipped! My sister yelled, “Leiya slipped off the boat!”  I was scared. They stopped the boat and put down the stairs. I went to the back of the boat, being careful of the engine.  Then I started to cry.

Because I was crying, they let me drive the boat. Then we stopped and we went fishing. I caught 10 fish and 1 blow fish. We threw back the blow fish and gave the rest of the fish to the people who helped us with the boat.

It was a great day except when I slipped. The rest of the day was very fun!

YA -- A Trip to Sharm El Sheikh

Article posted December 16, 2010 at 09:25 PM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 910

One spring day my mom and dad decided to go to Sharm El Sheikh. We looked on the computer for places to stay. We decided to go in summer.

When summer came, we went to the airport. We waited for two hours. We went through the security. They checked the passports. They let us go to the airplane.

In the airplane we played and watched TV. My mom’s TV worked. Mine did not. We switched seats and then my mom could not watch TV!

We arrived to Sharm El Sheikh. We went to the hotel and at night we slept. The next day we woke up at eight o’clock for the breakfast. We ate, but I ate a little but didn’t like it. So I didn’t eat any more.

We went to town. I bought something called pelmet, or swim fins. Then we went to the beach. I went very fast with my pelmet!

We saw a fish called the scorpion fish. My brother and I saw her spikes in her back. We dove down and poked her, so she swam away very fast!  I saw more fish. Some were black and some were very colorful. Some had a needle coming from their mouth. We went back to my family.

Next, we went on the parachute. It was very scary. We were very high! I saw the water. It was very blue. I saw a dolphin and a giant fish.

We went back to the hotel. Then we went on a banana that was very soft and was being pulled by a boat. There were six people in the banana! The banana moved very fast. The banana flipped because the handle broke.  I was the only one who didn’t fall. My hand was on the handle, and my head was down in the water!  It was exciting. I saw the bottom of the ocean and it was all blue. After that we rode back.

My dad, brother, and I went on a big float being pulled by a boat. We had to lie down. The boat was moving very fast. I was screaming, “Ah, ah, ah, ah,…” I was bouncing like on a trampoline. We were going to fall on a rock. While we were going back, my brother fell down. We started laughing at him. Then we went back to the hotel.

The next day, we were going to a field trip to the desert. We packed our stuff and went in a bus. When we got there, we put on our glasses on so the sand will not come into our eyes. Each one of us had a motorcycle. So my brother and I went first. It was very nice.

After that, my family and I drove to a farm where we saw people who slept in a tent and had a kitten that’s white. The kitten didn’t bit me, so I brought her some chips and she ate them. My mom and I held the kitten and fed her. We let her play with us and we ran with her.

Then we had to go to another place. We went to a place where there were poor people. It was dark, so we stayed there for a while. My mom and dad drank coffee and I drank tea.

After that, we went back to our hotel, we packed our stuff, and we handed in our keys, then we went to the airport. We got in the airplane and headed back to Lebanon. I enjoyed the trip a lot.

CA -- Day Care

Day Care

It was a nice, sunny morning, and I had to go to school. My mom went to the kitchen, and started to prepare our breakfast. My nanny woke me up, and put out nice and clean clothes to wear. I went to eat, and then I went to brush my teeth.

I waited for my mom to finish her shower. In the mean time, I sat with my nanny in the living room, and we watched TV. When my mom finished her shower, she put her makeup on, and fixed her bed. Then my mom held me with her nice, soft hands, and told my nanny what to do.

My mom and I walked through the long buildings, and trees. When we reached the gate, I started to cry and cry and cry. My mom tried to cheer me up, but I would never let go. I held tight to my mom, but then I had to go. I was really scared and sad. When the teacher put me down, I ran as fast as I could, and went under the table .The teacher tried to hold me, but I held the table’s leg. So my teacher lay down on the floor, and tried to cheer me up. She asked me to come and play with my friends. Then the teacher called my mom, so she could come and pick me up. My mom couldn’t get me, so she called my grandparents to get me from day care.

I stayed in my grandma’s house till 3:00 AM.  At my grandma’s house we had so much fun and we played together.

Then my mom took me to another day care, and it was so fun. I realized that there’s no need to be afraid of anything, even if I don’t have friends to play with me. And I think that my mom is right next to me all the time.

A Terrible Day

Once I was walking and I saw a frog on the pavement. I held it, but it jumped on my face. It ran and hit a wall. Then the frog went into a little house. It ran out and I found myself in trouble because I was following it and my mom was watching me.  But it was just a dream!

When I woke up I remembered the dream. Then it happened to me in real life.  It was amazing!  I held a frog. It jumped on my face, and ran into a wall. I ran around chasing it. I got in trouble with my mom for being out of her sight.  I was not happy, because I was in trouble, and my mom was very angry. She told me to go to my room for two hours. I couldn’t do anything! It was a terrible day!

The Big Trip

Once last year, I went on a boat with my dad and friends. We drove for hours, and then we saw an island. We stopped and looked at it for awhile. It was full of trees, sand, and buildings.  I said, “Wow! I have never seen this island.”

Finally it was my turn to drive the boat. I went full speed and it was fun. We saw a whirl pool. We almost sank, but we didn’t.

The boat returned to shore. I went to play on the beach. Then we got in the car and we went home. My mom ordered dinner. After I ate, I went to bed. It was one of the best days I have ever had!

LEA -- The Day I Wished Would Never End

Article posted December 15, 2010 at 09:45 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 921

The Day I Wished Would Never End

I was in the farm at my uncle’s zoo. I saw this wooden tower, and I went inside. It was a labyrinth!

I did half of it before my foot got stuck in a loose piece of wood. I struggled and cried. Finally, a kid came and helped me get out.

I was really embarrassed when my grandma asked me how it went, so I chased chickens, so that people couldn’t come and ask me awkward questions. My sister, Pearl, came out still more embarrassed than me, because a girl bumped into her and she fell on her.

I laughed, took some of the money my grandma had given me at the entrance of the zoo, got some food for the goats, and fed them. Then I went on the Bridge of Insects. The bridge went above the animal’s enclosures. It had a wooden floor with sides made of ropes, and big plastic insects around it.

Then I went to look at the bunnies and the pet mice in the farm cabin. They shared it with the lambs, baby goats, roosters, chicks, chickens, and pheasants.  I was hearing chickens, but I was smelling the cows nearby.

It was time to go home. I was sad. I wished the day would never end, though I knew that was impossible.

By Khaled

On Sunday at 7:00 a.m., I went with my brother to watch TV. After that, I went to play, but my brother was still watching TV. About 8:00 my dad and mom woke up. My mom said, “Go get dressed. We are going to Grandma’s house.”

My dad and mom got dressed. Then we went in the car. My dad drove and we were in the car for My brother said, “Okay!” I was happy. My brother and I went to get dressed.

about one hour and a half. When we got there I said to all my entire family, “Hi.” Then I said, “Hi,” to my cousin’s friends.

Next I went to see Stella, my brother’s dog. She is a girl and she is a German Shepherd. I played with her and made her walk down the street. She wanted to sleep. It was hard to make her walk!

Later on my dad said we needed to go back home. When we went back home, my brother and I went to sleep. It was a good day.

We brought Stella back to Beirut. We put her in a secret place. We were afraid someone would steal her. When we went back to the place where we put her, there were puppies!!! Boy, were we surprised!

LC -- Go to the Mall

Article posted December 15, 2010 at 09:36 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 1030

When I was a baby I lived in Kuwait. One day my two sisters and I went to the mall with my mom and my nanny. I have two older sisters and I am the youngest. My sister, the one who pinches my checks, her name is Nicole.

My other sister is named Michelle.

When we were walking through the mall, suddenly, I lay down on the floor and I cried loudly. My nanny had to pick me up and go where my mom was going. I wanted to go home. Then I started to nag at my mom. I wanted to say, “Mommy I want to go home!!” but I was only a baby, so I talked baby-talk.

Then my mom said, “Ok, we will go home.”

We went home. Then I felt better. I liked to play at home with a friend and without a friend, because I can play my games all by myself.

LE -- Forgotten Homework

Forgotten Homework

Once upon a time in St. John’s School in London, I had forgotten to do my homework. The next day at school, my friends asked me a question about the homework. I was so scared that my friends would find out that I didn’t do my homework.

I said a different answer. They found out. They told the teacher, but he didn’t believe them. Then I had to share.  I ran to my bag, and pulled out any random piece of paper. What I didn’t know was that it was a note from my mum. As I got inside I read it aloud, “Dear Mr. Fletcher, Luke did not do his homework.” Everyone laughed at me. So I had to do two pieces of homework.

In 2010 my mom, my sister, and I went to the U.S.A and were pit-stopped in France. We had to wait for a long time for our luggage.

Then my mom bought a watch. We had to wait in a line about 20 minutes. Then we saw a Play-Station 3. I wanted to play, but my mom said, “No.” Then we were so hungry. We went to a cafe and my mom saw her friend. I got water and chips.

I saw some people going in the airplane. I told my mom that the plane was open. We left and we got to the U.S. A. at 5:00 in the afternoon. It took us one whole day to get to the U. S. A.

KH -- Waliby World

Article posted December 15, 2010 at 09:37 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 956

Waliby World

One time Nadine, Talisha, Giudo, Efa, and I were in my grandma’s house. We were waiting to go to Waliby World in Holland.  We were all feeling excited and I was thinking about whether there would be candy prizes.  I like candy and Waliby World has a huge candy store. They have BIG lollipops!

When we went in the car, there was an accident on the road and we had to wait for an hour.  I was as angry as a monkey without bananas.  I was squished, and so I slept a little bit. Then we got there, and we were so happy.  We were running inside having fun. We went on the roller coasters. On one of the roller coasters, I felt sick.

We went on this boat, we were splashing people, and getting them wet. People where making us wet also. We left the boat, and ran to the top of a castle. We started making people wet with the water guns.

We went in a haunted house. There were these chairs attached to each other. An owl said, “Sit, sit. Don’t stand.” It kept saying that and it was so annoying.  We sat down, and we turned, and turned, and turned. There was a spooky guy. He was projected onto the wall. It was really scary.

We went to this place and we ate ice cream. My sister and my cousins went on a roller coaster called Twister.  They were on the Twister. I smelled something weird. It was just a man selling French fries.

Then we went to this iceburg. We laughed, danced, and we had fun.  We went crazy playing games. Finally we were in a fantastic place, and we were having a blast. All the people here were having fun too.

We went on a fantastic ride called the Mexican Hats. We waited for our turn. When it was our turn, we sat in a sombero.  We turned and went slow. Then we went faster and faster. When I got off, I was dizzy.

We went home and we told our mom and dad we were going to bed, but when we went upstairs, we watched TV!!! We were so happy!

HK -- When I Went With My Dad To Get A Watermelon

Article posted December 15, 2010 at 09:19 AM GMT0 • comment (2) • Reads 1122

When I Went With My Dad To Get A Watermelon

One day I had a best day with Dad. I went with my dad to the fruits and vegetable stand.  I didn’t like the place, because it was dirty. It had flies on the floor and there were squashed fruits and vegetables. But my dad didn’t care, so he just paid for a watermelon.

We went out of the shop and we got ice cream. I had vanilla. It had crunchy things in it. It was really good.

Then we went home. My dad cut the watermelon. When he was finished, we went to my room to play and watch TV. It was my best day with Dad.

TM -- On A Boat With My Friends

Article posted December 15, 2010 at 09:35 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 882

On A Boat With My Friends

One day I went to Movenpick with my dad, my sister, my mom, and myself. My dad told me that our friends were coming. I said, “But who?”

He answered, “Mia and Jude.”

I said, “But I don’t see them anywhere in Movenpick.”

“Because they’re on the boat.”

“ What boat?”

“ We’re going on a boat.”

“ Wow!” I was so excited.

“Thank you, Dad, so much. It is my first time to go on a boat!”

I was so excited! So I ran as fast as I could, and when we got to where the boats are in Monenpick, I saw Mia and Jude. I went running to them.

I said, “Where is your boat?”

They pointed to it and said, “It is in front of you.”

When I looked at it, it was so nice. It was so amazing, but it was medium in size. We were going inside, but I said, “Who will go first?”

These guys came to help us settle up the boat and then they help us get up . The last one was my mom. She was so scared, because she doesn’t know how to swim. But she did it. While we were waiting, I asked Mia if there is a bathroom, but she was busy telling her friend what to do with their shells when they find them. I said, “Mia,” and she got scared and jumped.

She said, “What?”

I said, “Does this boat have cool stuff?”

She said, “The cool stuff is all downstairs.

She said, “Follow me and I will show you the cool stuff.”

I followed her downstairs. There was a table stuck to the wall, and a kitchen, and 2 doors.

I said, “Cool!” Everything was nice except the 2 doors. They where not normal. I asked Mia, “What’s behind the 2 doors?”

When she opened 1 of the doors it was a bed that had mirrors around it!

I said, “Wow!”

Then she opened the 2nd door. It was a bathroom.

I said, “You have a nice boat.”

Then we went up. When we went up, the boat was stopping. I said, “Why is the boat stopping?”

My mom said, “Because we’re here!”

I said, “The beach is in the middle of the sea?”

“No the guys didn’t answer their phone. So we’re stuck in the middle of the sea.”

Mia and Jude’s dad started to call and call, but they still did not get an answer. We had to wait in the boat until they answered. They never answered so Mia and Jude’s dad changed the beach we were going to go to. Mia and Jude were so mad because they loved the beach more than any beach in the world. Mia and Jude started shouting at their dad. Their dad said, “They are not answering their phone. What can I do about it?”

Mia and Jude said, “Fine, we’ll go to another beach,” in an irritating way.

Then Mia and Jude’s dad called the other beach. They were coming to pick us up on their boat. Then we saw a boat coming fast as the wind. It turned two times and came to us. We put down the stick. We had to balance on it, and jump down on the small boat. The guy put down a heavy thing that held the boat. He stayed on the boat and started to wait for us.

When we got to the beach, I moved the towel and jumped in the pool. I swam and swam and swam until my mom called me to come to the restaurant.

I went to the restaurant and she said, “We are eating here later.”

I said, “Okay” and I went back to the pool. I went to the other side and saw a very cool place. There was water coming down and you could go behind the water fall and watch everyone through the water.  I decided to go there. No one had ever tried it before. When they saw me everyone wanted to try it.

When I was inside the water, I got squished, because a lot of people came. I called Mia and Jude and my sister, CC, to come and try it. After the people went, they said, “No.”

I said, “Fine,” and went to the pool. When I went back everything was full so I couldn’t swim on the fun side. I went back to Mia and Jude and I asked again, “Please, will you come with me to the pool.”

They said, “No.”

When I was leaving Mia, Mia and Jude’s mom came and asked us, “What do you want to eat?”

We all decided on burgers.

Then she said, “Fine.”

After 30 minutes, the food was ready. My mom called me and said, “Call Mia, Jude, and CC, because the food is ready.”I called them and we went to eat. They came running because they were so hungry.

When we were done, we played a little on the beach. Then we had to go. Mia and Jude took us on the boat. When we got back to Movenpick, we said goodbye to them. We all went to our homes. Our nanny said, “You are very late!”

My mom said, “Sorry, we were having a lot of fun.” My mom said, “It was time to go to bed. It is late.”

I said, “Fine,” and went to sleep dreaming about how much fun we had.

SM -- When Me and my dad went to the mountains

Article posted December 15, 2010 at 09:34 AM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 944

When Me and my dad went to the mountains

One day, my dad needed this red or green kind of Lebanese shirt or clothes. But he knew a woman that knew how to make those clothes.

The next day my dad asked me if I wanted to go with him to get the clothes. So we got inside my grandma’s car and we drove off. On our way we see different things, like an Olympic place or a sports place for kids. But I don’t really know, but that’s what I think.

My dad showed me meadows. The meadows were as green as grass. And the birds were as fast as a lightening bolt. At the mountains we saw lots of backyards. The best thing we saw was a giant bridge. It was as big as Mount Rushmore.

At last we were there, but before we even parked, the woman opened the door. The person that my dad wanted to see! So when we went inside the house, I went to the garden. There was a workshop beside the garden (inside the house).  I saw a man in the garden with a cat. We talked and played fetch with the cat. I was surprised that the man knew English and the cat knew fetch. The man and I talked and had a good time.

Then we went back up to the hall and by accident my dad stepped on the cat’s right foot! The cat went under the kitchen table and I followed it. I cheered it up. I saw that we were good friends. Normally I hate cats, but this is the best cat in the world!

Then my dad and the other two people came and said we had to go. That was a cat I would never forget. That cat is as good as a kid’s best friend!

Making A New Friend

One day, my brother and I were walking in the park. We met two kids. They asked me, “What is your name?”

I replied, “My name is Omar.”

They said, “Our names are Carlos and Rawad. Do you want to be our friend? “

I was so excited, like I was on cloud nine. I said “Ok.” So then we went to their house and played together.

Then it was night time, so we went home. I liked Rawad, because he was so cute.

The next day my brother and I went to our friend’’’’’s house. Then their dad asked us if we wanted to go with them. We said, “You need to call our parents.” Then we went in their car, and Rawad told me that we are going to the “Chocolate Factory,” and if we want chocolate, we get it for free. I was so excited. I could eat all the chocolate in the world.

When we got there, my brother and I found a place where we can make cookies and pizzas!! Then I played X-Box 360 and ate cotton candy and marshmallows. While we were eating marshmallows, we watched a movie. Then we ate bread sticks.

Then we went home. We took a shower and went to bed. It was a wonderful day.

KM -- My 6th Birthday

My 6th Birthday

One day, I woke up in my bed, looked at my calendar, then I realized it was March 17th- my birthday and Saint Patrick’s Day! I was so happy!!

I knew friends were coming early in the morning, so I got ready and went downstairs. When I got downstairs, my mom, dad, and sister were there with my best friend, Dana. She came a bit early.

When everybody got there, we turned the music on and all went to play in the garden. We had lots of fun. We played Pass the Parcel, Musical Statues, and Musical Chairs. We swam, and it was so much fun.

Then we went to eat. On the table, there were hot dogs, mini-hamburgers, mini-pizzas, chicken nuggets, and manouche. When the cake came, it was amazing! My grandmother designed the cake and a place called Cho-Coa made the cake. The cake was in the shape of a carriage. The carriage had green, red, and blue flowers inside it. Everybody liked the taste and design of the cake.

When everybody left, I was tired, but I knew I had had a good day! It was the best party I ever had.

RS -- Hit By A Wave

Hit By A Wave

One Sunday morning, I went to the Cornice to get hit by a wave. I had to wait an hour. Then a giant wave came out of nowhere. It came splashing over the railing. It knocked me to the ground. It pushed me over the sidewalk. I thought I was going to die. I couldn’t breathe. Water was in my mouth because the wave hit me. I was wearing a rain jacket so I would not get wet.

After that I went home. My jacket was wet. My mom had to dry it. I learned that if you want to get hit by a wave, you should wear a rain jacket.

Mountain Swimming

When I woke up I had to wait for hours, because my sisters kept on sleeping. I was excited to go to my mountain house. I had breakfast. When they finally woke up, I had to prepare everything!  Big rubber boats that you can sit on, a water slide, the floating relaxation seats, and a small boat were all the things I got together.

Our nanny, my sisters, my sister’s friends, and I went to the mountain house. It took 1 hour to get there. When we reached there, I was the first one to jump in the pool. My sisters jumped in the pool.  When we pumped up my water slide, we pushed it into the pool. Then we jumped on it and slide down. We put soap on it and when I slide down, I flew like a bird and I splashed.  I hit the water!

The next day when I woke up, I went with my nanny down to Floor 0.  I never knew my sisters and her friends followed me down too. When I saw them, I ran until my dog chased everyone, like a wild goose chase! I was shouting, “Aaaa….”  My dog was a police dog. He bit my pants off, but I had extra pants. We all jumped in the pool, and how long we stayed in the pool was how long he barked.

Then my sister went out of the pool. She told my dog, Ben, to sit and don’t bite. Then she went to get our trampoline from Floor -1. We all followed my sister to help her.  We went back up to the pool. We fixed it.

Then my sister said to my dog, “Attack.” We all jumped on the trampoline. Then we jumped in the pool from the trampoline. I was feeling like I had butterfingers because I was playing so hard.  I wanted to get out to rest, but I was afraid my dog would bite my head open.  I got out and my dog did not get me. So, I fell back in the pool. I wasn’t butterfingers any more. Yeah. It was a great day!

Lunch With My Grandparents

One day my mom and I decided to have fish for lunch with my grandma and grandpa. So my mom asked my grandma and grandpa to come and eat fish, and they came.

Later all of us went to the store and bought the fish. We bought lots of little fish. Then we came back home and my grandpa said, “Let’s cook the fish now.”

I said, “Ok.”

My mom, grandma, and grandpa started to cook the fish. I was really hungry. It took a long, long time. So I went to watch television.

When the fish was done, I said, “Finally the fish is done.” So I sat down. My family and I ate fish. It was delicious. I said to my grandma and grandpa, “Come again.”

They said, “Ok,” and they left. It was a happy day.
