My Roller Coaster Project

Article posted April 16, 2013 at 04:29 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 48

Our rollercoaster project taught us which forces that are on a rollercoaster such as momentum. Newton's Three Laws are 1. An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. An object in motion will stay in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalenced force. This law is the law of inertia. 2. Acceleration is produced when a force acts on a mass. The greater the mass of the object being accelerated the greater the amount of of force needed to accelerate the object. 3. For every action there is an equal and opposite re-action. Our roles in the project are lawyer, design engineer, physicist, and historian. The lawyer's job was to find lawsuits against amusment parks and some laws for amusment parks. The physicist' job was to find out the forces on a rollercoaster, and to know Newton's laws. The historian's job was to find the record setting coasters and how the first coaster was made, and know all of the opening coasters that are opening in 2013. The design engineer had to find what coasters were made of and how much space is needed for the coaster. Then we had to build a simulation coaster and test if they would work and some that did not work.

This is a picture of my success coaster it worked because the car got over the first hill, got enough speed to get over all of the loops and the final hill.

This is my fail because it got too much energy and crashed over the last hill into the end.

We named our coaster the Shmoe Dragon.

Three Great Things About School

Article posted February 12, 2013 at 04:28 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 774

My school is a Catholic that has grades that go from K-8, that was founded in 1961. We have one class in each grade, and we are a small school in eastern Pennsylvania. I like my school because I have great friends, and they help me and support me when I am sad. Another thing is we have a wide space to play outside for recess, which is a grassy field next to the school. The last thing is how nice the teachers are its like they came from the rainbow over the land.

Grade 7 Push Ups Fitness Test

Article posted January 8, 2013 at 04:11 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 1490

During this school year our students in grades 2 through 8 completed the President’s Fitness Challenge. We took part in a variety of physical endurance tests. The sixth grade students charted the results for each event and grade. Here are the results of the Push Ups for grade 7. As you can see from the chart below, 9 or 29% of the students achieved Presidential Level, 14 or 45.2% of the students achieved National Level, and 8 or 25.8% of the second graders were at Participant Level.

My Sandy Experience

Article posted November 6, 2012 at 04:31 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 121

Huricane Sandy was a category 2 hurricane, I can't imagine Hurricane Katrina which was a category 5 Hurricane. Hurricane Sandy cost the U.S. 52.4 billion dollars. Sandy killed 193 people throughout the U.S., Haiti, Cuba, Bahamas, Canada, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Bermuda.

My experience with Sandy was a little scary because we lost our power and it was freezing in our house. My family, friends, and my neighbors were affected by Sandy because they lost power and their trees fell into their yard.

I will remember all the trees down on houses and all the people that lost their homes. A lot of trees fell in front of our house so we could not get out of the house.

Don't smoke! You can get several diseases from smoking such as cancer. In health class I learned  the chemical in cigaretts is called nicotine, it is what makes you addicted to cigaretts. In my poster it shows that if lungs arev healthy they are happy. My poster also shows that if you smoke too much you can die. So if you are a smoker stop NOW!
