Dear parents,
I am writing to you from my 7th grade math class. In this class we have learned about the order of operations, constructing frequency graphs, compute with exponents, use of variables to solve number tricks and much more all in the first module.
We learned how to do the order of operations and I learned there is a certain order that you have to do the order of operations in. This order goes parenthesis, exponents, multiplication and division, and addition and subtraction. A way you can remember this order, it is called PEMDAS or please excuse my dear aunt sally. The first letter in all these words is also the first letter of all the words in the order of operations.
Another thing that we have learned this year in math is exponents. The way you do exponents is you multiply the larger number on the line by itself however many times the smaller number above it. I really enjoy exponents they are one of my favorite mathematical things.
I also really enjoy bar graphs. They are very easy to make. All you have to do is collect information, make a category on the graph and draw a bar showing the up next to the number of data there was. A bar graph is used to compare things.
