My Eye (09/07/11)

Description:

Do you know the parts of the eye? This assignment combined science and technology. The students learned various parts of the eye and labeled the visible parts on a photo of their own eye.

The students used the built-in camera on the Acer netbooks to capture an image of their eye. Experimenting with a paint program, they created labels for their photo. Once saved, they loaded their photo to this blog. (Images can not be Copied directly to their article. Several steps are involved. The process is more involved than it may seem.)

Have you ever noticed what happens to your eye when a bright light is turned of near you? We learned about the eye in class and our teacher taught us a trick. Take a mirror, look hard at your eye and turn of the lights. You will see your pupil start to grow so that you can see better in the dark.

Look closely at your eye or a friend's eye. Did you know that your cornea protects your pupil and iris or that your pupil is a 'hole' in your eye?

I learned a lot about my eye. I learned that there are cones in the back of your eye that help you see color.

Have you ever looked in the mirror at your eye when you turn the lights off? Well, if you haven't, then you're missing out on a really cool opportunity :).

When you first turn off the ligths before you go to bed, your pupil larges in size!! :O This happens because your eye needs to work harder to see in the dark. And your pupil shrinks very quickly when you turn the lights on in the morning, because your eyes havn't been used to the light. Very cool stuff, I know.
