Bacteria Blog

Article posted March 14, 2011 at 08:35 PM GMT • comment • Reads 519

Over the last three class periods, I have learned a lot about bacteria and how it works. I have learned that  there are many bad kinds of bacteria but also many good types too. Because of the bad types of bacteria, bacteria has gotten a bad reputation, so whenever someone thinks about bacteria they think about the bad kinds of bacteria. My favorite powerpoint I saw was Virus and Bacteria Chapter 17 Biology 11 by Mandie Lynn Walls. The reason I chose this powerpoint was because it explained a lot of things after I showed me something. The words did many cool actions that kept me interested, it also used different colors and backgrounds to catch my eye. This blog did not have full sentences to read, there were bulletpoints which expressed the main ideas. It got to the point quickly unlike some others I saw and it did not use too many pictures to take up slides. And it got the point across quickly without too many slides. This powerpoint also used many key terms that were important for understanding the process. Here is the URL for this powerpoint: www.worldofteaching.com/powerpoints/biology/viruses.ppt.

Supreme Court

Article posted March 3, 2011 at 08:47 PM GMT • comment • Reads 99

The virtual tour of the Supreme Court was educational. The tour was a little slow at reacting but it had many of the key presidents in pictures. There were many bust of many different officials and some of the Supreme Court judges. The inside looked pretty old but kept in good condition it was built many years ago. The Supreme Court was made mostly of wood but with Greek pillars on the front. It was different to see where many big cases were held but also very informative.

Game at ICivic

Article posted February 23, 2011 at 08:49 PM GMT • comment • Reads 116

The games at ICivic taught about how the court works and that you need support to back up your ideas. I found it easy to out score my opponent because I got a lot of the support and ideas correct. ICivic made me realize that court is a lot more than a game. It has a lot of arguments and you have to have evidence or an argument to go into court.

Blues 2

Article posted February 17, 2011 at 08:59 PM GMT • comment • Reads 110

The Blues are going to need a good push to get into the playoffs. A new flame has sparked the blues. With the return of Andy McDonald and T.J Oshie in the last two months. The Blues picked up a big win against the NHL leading Canucks, beating them three to two at the Scottrade Center. The Blues leading scorer  is David Backes, argubly one of the Blues best players and a 2011 allstar selection. The Blues will make the playoffs if they can tough it out here. The Blues, if they make the playoffs will most likely be in the eighth seed probably facing the Canucks in the first round. The Blues are the fifth team under the eighth spot line which is not good for them. Can the Blues make a push and make the playoffs for the second straight year and start another streak? The Blues play their best when they are at home and are facing teams from the eastern conference.  The good thing is that the Blues are playing at home four of their next five games but the next five games are against the Western Conference. The Blues could really move up in the standings if they win these next five. The Blues have had to bring up a lot of members from Peoria because of the many injuries they have had this season. Soon hopefully David Perron will be back in action. David was hurt in a December where he got a dirty hit from Joe Thorton who was ejected from the game for the hit. The Blues have momentum right now and if they keep this up they will have a chance to make the playoffs.

The Sifteo Cube System allows players to combine the different systems to play the same game. The  people who originally invented these to maybe help students to study. You can download games to play. This could eventually help us invent new systems to help us. The Nintendo 3DS play 3D games without glasses and it has a touch screen. It can take 3D pictures. It is backwards compatible to regular DS's. It is about the size of a Nintendo Lite.  The Nintendo 3DS is the succesor to the Nintendo DS excel. The Razor Switchblade is a very sensitive keyboard that changes the keys to adapt to the game you are playing. This allows you to have the mobile experience in a stationary place.  The Motorola Xoom Tablet is a 10 inch display. It runs on googles honeycomb operating system. It has 32 gigs of onboard storagewith a SD card that can sore up to 32 more gigs. It has dual cameras and it uses flash. Video

I enjoyed watching the video and learning more. She brought up some good points and I am not sure how online gaming helps us solve real world problems. At first she sounded like she was a little crazy at first but when she began to explain, I understood a lot more. The lecture taught me a lot and it sounded a little sane but still I can't see how playing will help solve real life problems.

Reflection to business letter

Article posted October 13, 2010 at 08:22 PM GMT • comment • Reads 198

I have enjoyed making this business letter. I already knew about the format. I had no idea at first who to send it to I eventually got one. I decided that instead of just feedback I would give ideas I have thought about for suggestions to Apple. I had some trouble finding the email of the CEO but eventually I found it. It was easy to find something to say. All I did was things I can't do on my mac.

Blues

Article posted September 21, 2010 at 06:20 PM GMT • comment • Reads 101

The Blues are 2-0 looking sharp beating Philadelphia in OT for their first win. For their second win they unmercifully pounded the Ducks 5-1 in a game that featured ten fights. Without our best fighter Cam Janssen out with a concussion. The Blues are tied with three teams for second and the only reason the Red Wings are in first is because they have played three games. Mike D'Agostini leads the Blues in goals right now with 2 in two games. The Blues have a road game in Nashville tonight which I hope is a good game, Nashville is one of the undefeated teams we are tied with at the moment. What does the future hold for the Blues? I don't know but their fate will be decided soon.

Cardinals

Article posted September 21, 2010 at 03:00 AM GMT • comment • Reads 116

Will the Cardinals come back and overtake the Reds? I think the answer is yes, the Cardinals have been showing fighting sprit taking three out of four from the Padres. It is going to be hard but if people like Rasmus come out of there slumps and fight for it I believe we can do it. Were down by seven with about fifteen games left. The games on the road are what is killing us. We are better than the Reds with home record but when we are on the road the Reds have won eight more games than us. I do not think the trade for Westbrook helped much. The reason we didn't sweep the Padres was because of Ryan Ludwick hitting a three-run homerun in the bottom of the 9th. The Marlins lost on Monday did not help. Latest news says that Jason LaRue is expected to retire after being kicked in the face by Johnny Cueto. Also, Jaime Garcia is not expected to start for the second scheduled missed start. Pujols is trying his hardest but just can't carry the entire team on his shouders. I also think Pujols will win the Triple Crown this year all Pujols has to do is raise his average several points. Coming up the Cardinals last ten games feature six games vs. the Pirates, three games against the Cubs and one game against the Rockies. All the teams we face were teams that we lost to when we needed to win. Can the Cardinals make it to the playoffs and perform a miracle perhaps winning the Series again, this is my opinion.

Rams

Article posted September 20, 2010 at 08:57 PM GMT • comment • Reads 110

The Rams are 0-2 yet again losing to the Cardinals and the Raiders. Mark Clayton has looked good catching two touch downs for the Rams only two scores against the Raiders which they lost 16-14. The Rams future doesn't look good if they lost to the Raiders playing many tough teams down the road. Can the Rams rebound from their 0-2 start, I doubt it last year we were 1-15. The Rams defense looked better yesterday but they were still bad. Sam Bradford must be tired after throwing 56 attempts vs. the Cardinals. Steven Jackson has been explosive breaking for 20-30 yard gains on some runs. The offensive line needs to buckle up because it is going to be a long season if they let Sam Bradford take hits like he did yesterday. And what with the kicker missing two field goals. We would get down the field and have to kick and kicker would miss it all that hard work for nothing. All and all, it is going to be a long season if the Rams play like they are playing right now.
