Title: Blog #1 (All classes) (09/12/12)
Description: This is a two part blog:

Part 1) What are your first impressions of this class (and, if this is your first time here, the school)? Consider everything: the building, the room, your classmates, myself (your teacher), the work we have done so far, the work we plan to do, the course outline in general, etc.

Part 2) What will you do this semester to ensure that you succeed as an adult student? Be specific.

Reminder: Your blogs should be at least one full paragraph in length (I would expect no less than seven sentences in a paragraph at the grade 12 level). Please explain yourself fully, using specific detail.

My first impression of this class was that its not gonna be as bad as i thought, no offense i just always struggled in english as you oill no doubtedly realise by the caliber of my assignments. I must admit the class is alot younger then i was expecting but everyone is really cool including the techers. so far i find the work to be challenging but not out of my ability. I wonder however if it is just because of all the life experience ive accumulated over the last 20 or so years since i was in school. I totally find it easier this time around and i think its because i have so much more to reference from. This year i plan on showing up to class everyday which was an issue first time around. i will also try and do all the assignments they are given and try not to leave thing till the last minute. I will do my best to pay attention and get help if i need it.

It has been a while since I've attended school and it is refreshing to be back in the solace of pen, paper and homework. I have to admit that everything is vastly different from the kind of school I am accustomed to, not just beacause it is an adult school but things work differently from the Philippines. Back in my home country school starts at 7 in the morning and ends half past 4 in the afternoon, which is clearly not the same case here in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The structures and buildings are different too, it is more modern and well built, which is a nice environment for learning. Truthfully I was nervous during the first day of class. I was anxious to meet my classmates but they are a nice lot and now I found myself comfortable around them. I imagined my teacher to be strict and and someone who plays by the book but upon meeting Jody I honestly thinking that she is cool and very helpful. So far the lessons that we have covered got the gears in my head turning again. The topics are considered to be refreshers since those were already taught in high school. I am looking forward for more writing assignments, especially the the lyrical one stated in the course outline.

One must be determined in order to pass. I will set my priorities straight and focus. I must attend every class so that I won't miss anything and by not missing anything I won't have a hard time in catching up. I will pay attention to the lessons and actively participate in class, that way the piece of information will be retained in my mind. Taking down notes is helpful and will save me the trouble when studying alone. It will also keep things organized. I shall change my ways and never procrastinate. If a task is given I should carefully go through it and don't waste my time in idle thinking. Completing homework and making sure it is done before it is due is a good practice as well. Hopefully I'll follow through the things I have listed and acquire enough credits and be a successful student. It is better late than never.

My first immpressions of this class was how diverse it was. It's a big change than from what I am used to from highschool but I knew what to expect. The school is very small but I like it in a way. Its easier to get to know people and easier to learn. So far I find the work we are doing in class rather easy. Probably becuase english is one of my stonger subjects and I have already completed a grade 12 english course. So far the course outline seems to be intersting. I am looking forward to the research project mostly.

This semester I plan to come to every class to ensure that I succeed. My biggest problem in the past was attendence. Also, handing in all of my homework and assignments to ensure I receive the highest marks possible. The higher my marks the better chances I have for being accepted into the University Of Winnipeg.

My first impressions of this class was like all the other adult classes Ive ever attended. Everyone is quiet and a little shy at first but open up shortly after. Ive taken classes here before and my initial thought of this building was that the layout was so not like a regular school. The one thing I must say Im not a fan of is the bathroom location, like most other people Im sure. Ive never had Jody as a teacher before but find her to be very down to Earth and easily approachable. In my opinion the work we have done so far hasnt been all that difficult. The main thing Im going to do this semester to assure my success is to not make any excuses. I found that in life when I really wanted something, as long as I made no excuses along the way I had no failure.

The honest first impression I got of this class was “damn it’s quiet in here.” Everyone is here to do their work and get ‘er done. I like how small it is here. In larger settings I tend to get distracted fairly easy, but here there is nothing to distract me. Nowhere to go, not enough people to throw me off. It’s good for my purpose to be here. Its totally sweet too that we all have computers to do our work with, I cant even count how many times I’ve pulled up Google to refer to for spelling and definitions and I’ve only been here for 4 days. Deecent!

Like I said previously everyone seems to be here to do their work, therefor I haven’t got to know any of them on a personal level. This is almost a good thing because then it wont create tension at the end of semester, but it does tend to slow the day a little. Jody is a good teacher. To the point, easily approachable, informative; the things a teacher needs to be. One of the reasons I’m here now is because some of the teachers I had in Murdoch are very open with favouritism and lame with others.

The work we have done so far has been a good reminder to me of what an english class is all about and I am curious to see how the rest of the class goes. I will be here everyday to ensure that I see it. I have been doing all my homework as early as possible (which was a huge issue in high school), and making sure that I understand what it is I am asked to do. There is no doubt in my mind that I will finish this class.

It's already been about a year since I first dropped out of highschool, and this experience so far has been absolutely amazing! The students aren't here to judge or be judged, they're here to learn and strive for the future. The instructor is like a polar opposite to the authoriative, egotistical teachers I unfortunately dealt with in high school (plus she has tattoos, that's pretty damn awesome!), and the class outline feels perfectly relevant with today's modern society; this blog is a clear example, blogging is so common nowadays that I'd be surprised to meet someone who hasn't blogged before with things like Facebook and Tumblr being the current fad for blogs. Just yesterday we analyzed 3 variations of the classic story: "3 Little Pigs" and the last variation was a metal song that was pretty catchy and definitely caught me way off guard. Even the content in the song would've made my past teachers appalled at even the suggestion to analyze it.

The fact that I'm actually in class for a full week is perfect evidence about how different, yet amazing, this whole experience is. I feel productive and I feel like my mind is constantly stimulated in this environment. If this was highschool, I would've already had quite a large number of unexplained absences. (And I was only within a 5 minute walking distance from mine!) I know I'm going to pass, although my goal is a minimal 50%, I'm positive I'll reach atleast within 76%-90% and that's all because of the instructor and students.

My first impression of this class was wow its small. My first impression of the school was i cant believe it only has 2 classrooms. The adult school i attended in Hamilton had about 15 class rooms with atleast 25-30 students in each class. Everyone in the class seems nice. English is one of my worst subjects so the work seems hard to me. Seems like alot to learn in such little time. The teachers and the rest of the stagg at the school are nice as well.

This semester i will attened class regularly. I will try to do my work to the best of my ability to get the best mark i possibly can. If I dont understand a question i will ask for help. I will try not to get behind in class, its always easyier to get ahead then to catch up.

My first impressions of this class were what i sort of expected, just normal people trying to get their high school diploma or upgrade their mark like myself. I didnt think I'd be inside this building i thought I'd be inside a random school somewhere in winnipeg. The work we have done is just like high school all over again, writing assignments and short storys are what we are working on today. I will make sure I work hard in this class so i can achieve my overall goal of passing with a high average.

Having been in and out of school for 10 years I would have to say my best experience so far has been with RETSD. I didn't know what to expect on my first day of school. I like that it's small so you don't have to compete too much for help. I especially like the fact that the teachers actually help you. At JobWorks the English teacher didn't help me much. English certainly isn't my strong point. I enjoy writing but I have a hard time puttung pen to paper. Attending class four mornings a week instead of two I've noticed the class moves at a faster pace. Hopefully I can get most of my assignments completed before the end of the course.

There are always bumps along the road to success. In the past I have given up my studies because of work or illness due to my pregnancy. This year I plan to strive to achieve my diploma in June. With finances being tough and having a little one to care for at home that hasn't detered me from completing my assignments. Yes, they may be late but they will be handed in.

My first impression of this, I thought "yay!! the computer room!!" I say that because we can have our own space in a way instead of awkardly starring at each other, plus we can go on the computer...of course. I was surprised there was actually alot of students despite there was barely any last year when I attended here at the Center. My classmates ALL seem to be nice and smart! I know this because Jody had us in group discussions so that gave a me a better chance to get to know them. And as for Jody, she`s a great teacher just how most of her old students told me she was. I like the way she teaches. So far we learned about editing and revising our work, writing variables and reading strategies. Though this course is very fast paced I feel like at the same time I've learned alot.

For me to succeed in this class, I think attendance is important and most importantly is to understand what is being taught to us so it makes are assignments and homework easier to do.

In order for me to be a succesful student I will have to apply myself and complete all assingments.   Also I will have to do a better job of completing my blogs!

The class is very fast paced, with a lot of content to process in a very short amount of time. But I dig it, it works. It forces you to sit down, look at your homework and get it done. It’s very cold in here, and loud, but that’s okay cause’ it just makes you want to get out of here faster. Everyone I’ve talked to is pretty cool and smart. It seems like they really want to work, it makes me want to work harder too.

I have literally, not figuratively, labeled everything Jody has given us with neon-coloured post-it notes. It keeps me organized and helps give me an idea of where we are in the course. I write everything down in an agenda as well. I’m going to try to be here every day cause’ if you miss even one day, you’re missing a lot of content.

My first impression of of the class is being very quiet. I was worried of being judged, because I was worried that I was not smart enough. My concern was that the classmates might make fun of me. My other impressions were how many students were and what ages groups there were . I wondered if the other students were nervous and excited like myself. I noticed a few other students sitting at the front with me on the first day.

My first impressions of the class are good. The teacher is nice, the students seem friendly and the computer room seems much cleaner than when it had a carpet floor. The work we have done so far in class is simple. And easy.
What I will do to ensure I succeed as an adult student is to ask for help when I need to.

I like this class. I find it's a very easy going envoriment,we go at a good pace.  I like my classmates luckily they're all easy going and a funny group. I like that class kind of down sized because it's eaiser for us to get one on one. Our teachers cool and easy going. I am not worried when i have to ask her for en extention on my work. she also makes sure that everyones in the same spot or close to,which makes it easier not to fall behind. I am trying my hardest to keep up with the work and handing things in on time. I think if i just show up and do my best I'll be successful in this class. I've learned to ask for help or ask questions if I am not understanding something.

My C -- first impression

Article posted September 24, 2012 at 02:50 PM GMT-6 • comment • Reads 248

Summer is over, it's now time to get ready for the new level . A few weeks before I came to the center for grade tenth last spring, I was very confused and nervous. I wondered if I could pass grade tenth, but here I'm come to class for grade eleventh now. This time I'm more in an exciting mode than feeling nervous. I think that's the sign of the improvement I have made in grade tenth.

My teacher for this semester is young, I felt strange at first, but after my first week, I found that she is a nice, understanding and very supportive person. The majority of my classmates are also young people. They are active. I'm not sure because the building and classroom is small and crowded (preferably to have a larger, modern building, who doesn't if we have a choice?) that's why I found they are loud and distractive sometime but it doesn't bother me at all for I found that they are fun to be with.

So far the course outline seems different from last semester, because of what reason i don't know but for sure it's more interesting and fun.

I found it's difficult as an adult learner. With my age; come to class and working for leaving, it's kinda over whelming sometime, but I have set my goal to focus on homework. Try to keep the consistence of my attendance so that i don't fall behind and be able to finish school as I have always wanted.

Part one - My first impression was that I thought that it would be easier then math. I guess I was wrong! The way I see it now being back in school these passed few weeks is that there is much more thinking involved. The room and building is easier to settle into due to the small classes. My classmates are very entertaining for the most part,They also can be alittle distracting when I am quietly working and deep in though. I like that the teachers they are more hands on help. While i was in high school i didn't get the kind of support and help that I do get here.I am very grateful for that.Helps me understand more of what I am learning.

Part 2  - I will try my best to attend my classes and do all the work that is being asked to do. I will ask for help when and if I need to. I will be more of a class participant. I hope to work on my social skills and not shy away from involving myself in class discussions.

This being my first time here, I was pleasantly surprised. The building is smaller and very comfortable with up to date equipment. The smaller classes makes for more one on one help with the teachers. Since I have been out of school for so long, I'm finding it a complete change of pace. With having only two subjects at this time, I'm not being over whelmed. The other students are so much younger but nice and understanding of someone so much older than them trying to learn the same stuff they are. I enjoy the comments and joking around they do to lighten the mood when needed.  The teachers are very understanding and helpful with all the questions being asked.. Since I want my Gr.12 diploma I am going to try to do everything required of me and learn. I will try to show up for every class, on time and be prepared with assignments completed to the best of my ability.

I like how the teachers explain everything in full detail and help you whenever you need it. They make sure everybodys understands what is being taught which is excellent. The work we have done so far has been pretty easy, not to difficult but I'm assuming it will get harder as the semester goes on. If I run into trouble I know the teachers are here to help me through it and help me understadnw aht to do in roder to succeed. I will always work my hardest in order to achieve my goal of graduating. I'm hoping to get this finished in 1 year, that will be awesome.

When I walked in I knew it was gonna be different than highschool. The other school I went to was like this but it was indepandent. I like how you have more class time to do an assignment and the smaller classes. This is the most fun and worry free for school that i have been. I like that the location of the building is close and is in Transcona. I enjoy the work that we do its very easy. The teachers are awsome my favorite to be honest would be english its more relaxed.

This semester I'm going to attend school everyday unless there is an emergancy. I will do my work and hand it in. I have a tendacy of forgetting to hand in my work so I'll have to be reminded. I will do my assignments to the best of abilty that I can.

As a returning student I don’t really have much to say about the building, but the diversity of the students that attend is pretty amazing. As far as my teacher I had her for grade eleven, and I felt that she was very willing to help in whatever way she could, whether it was one on one or giving the class examples. I was also surprised on how big the class is compared to last year. The theme of the work is interesting due to the fact choices is not something people really breakdown to detail every time we make them. The course outline in general I think will be fun because of the theme for it. Seeing as this is my only class come November eighth I plan on using that extra time to focus on my English class without any other distractions, aside from the ones at home. I finished last year with a good mark and have set a personal goal to try and beat it this year.

I have been in Jody’s class before so I am looking forward to spending my last English class with her. I think I have great classmates this time around, even though everyone is really quiet but it’s still early so I’m sure everyone will become more talkative. So far I have done all the assignments before so they are easy but I just have to put more though and effort into them this time around. To make sure I succeed in this class I will make sure I am at school all the time because last year I had problems with that, i will also make sure all my work is done to the best I can do and make sure everything is handed in on time. The most important thing I will do is ASK for help if I need it.

I was very nervous when I first walked into MacLeod Adult Education Center. It was the first time at the school and it reminded me of Mapleton School where I went for grade seven and eight. I like my classmates and I feel I have been accepted here. Jody is very helpful and approachable. She makes sure everybody understands what is being taught. I have enjoyed the work so far, but I am sure that the work will only get harder as the year progresses.

In order to succed as an adult student I will attend each class and do all my assignments. The course will be a challenge & I am up for it. As a personal goal, I would like to learn more in regards to technology. Blogging will be a great start in achieving this goal. Other challenges include poetry, lyric assignments and public speaking. Hopefully I will be able to cross these mental barriers and be successful in the course.

Part 1: First Impressions…
This is my first time in this facility, but I see a lot of familiar faces which is a great thing for me because it makes the first few days more comfortable. My first impressions are great! It’s great to see so many people here with the same mindset which is to succeed. The lunchroom serves as much more than just a room to pour a coffee or store your leftovers. It’s a fun place to share ideas and catch up with others since most of us are only there a few times a week. In the lunchroom, many of my peers share their purpose for being here, what motivates them and why they didn’t finish high school or why they need to upgrade their education. Relationships are being born while we count down the minutes for the coffee to finally finish brewing lol. Almost all of us are in the same boat, just different age groups, but it doesn’t matter because everyone’s so cool. The work we’ve done so far is enlightening for me. I like the challenge of improving my writing skills, but mostly reading analysis and what it is I take from a piece of writing and why. I’m looking forward to the song lyrics part of the course because it will likely help me better understand songs that I already know and love. I probably will even open up to other types of music that I wouldn’t normally listen to. I appreciate my teacher Jody because she’s so patient and empathetic when it comes to me handing in my homework late. Sometimes life eats up your time and the teachers here are very aware and understanding of that fact. I’m sure all of the students here are grateful of that trait.

Part 2: Ensure My Success…
Generally, I’ll maintain the balance between school and everything else I have going on. School IS my #1 priority. I’ll rely on the support system I have around me and maintain my confidence. It’s been 10 years since I was last in a classroom and now I have the ability to actually control the responsibilities in my life. Focus, honesty, patience and the ability to have fun will help me do this. Free coffee always helps too!! :)

I like the way adult classes are conducted as oppose to how high school was. This is my second time here except I didn't go past a week the first time. The work seems pretty straight forward so far and I can only expect the work to be building on the skills. I like that the teachers aren't too anal about the assignments and are understanding towards outside variables & the fact that not everyone goes at the same pace. The smaller building makes it much easier to find your way around which is always nice, KE was very confusing and Miles Mac was untill I went there for a while. My class seems good so far, everyone is nice and friendly which makes going back to school easier. I just have to force myself to stick to it, try not to miss any classes and not get behind in work and I think I'll be able to succeed.

My first impressions of this class is basically the same as last year, I'm familiar with the building and the teacher. I think this year is going to be pretty much the same as last year just with more writing. I have no problems with any students but some of the students are people I know from last year, and I've met a few new people so far too. The work we've done so far is the same as last year the autobiography and a few articles. what I'm going to do this year to succeed is to try to hand in everything on time and get help when I get low marks on something.

This is the first time I have taken classes at this school, and the first time I have been an adult student. I was really surprised when I showed up to our English class for the first time a few weeks ago; I couldn’t believe how big our classroom was. I remember years ago when this school was an elementary school and did not except the building to be the way it is. A few days ago I was actually talking with mom about the building because I was wondering if there was a gym here and where would it be? At first I’ll admit that I was not looking forward to doing blogs one bit, none of my other teachers that I’ve had throughout my life have ever done anything like this. After the test blog we did I’m a lot more open to the concept. This semester I will try my best to not fall behind in the assignments given. In high school it was too easy to fall behind and not care enough to get caught back up. I chose to be an adult student, so I know because it’s my choice I will put much more effort into the course. So far I really like the teacher style that Jody has and the twists she has on here assignments. For example our last assignment we were able to choose the article we wanted to work with rather than given one that might not interest us. I continue to look forward to the rest of the course and the work included.

The school is small and not too many students but I like it because everybody is friendly and easy to get along with. Now as an adult student I like to work hard on my assignments and try to handed in on time and not skipping the class, but sometimes it’s hard for me because I have full time job and some other courses.I will try my best to do all of my assignments an catch up all of my work and balance everything in my life.

Alright, well my honest first impression of this class (and I’m going to be brutally honest here) was that I hate it. I, with a burning passion hate English because of the amount of writing. Worst of all opinion writing, I’ve always thought “why should I write about my opinion when my opinion doesn’t matter?” Lucky for Jody, who my first impression was that she looks incredibly cool for an English teacher, my first opinion of the English class was wrong. Everyone in the class seems like decent people who are there with honest intentions which I greatly appreciate and the work isn’t immensely difficult. Writing is by far not a skill I possess and I truly miss novel studies but my gut tells me I can accomplish this. I can succeed in the subject that I’ve failed a number of times. It’s quite baffling to me that only two years of being out of school has made such a difference in moral when it comes to education. I’m not sitting in this class because I have to, I want to be here. This time will be different from the other three times I’ve attempted to get my diploma; yes three times I have dropped out. No more of that however, I’m going to complete this class if it kills me. Even if I have to cut my hours at work, I will prioritize my education and respect what it can do for my future. My ass will be in that chair every class, and assignments will be completed. They may not be on time but that something I have to work on. This is a goal I am determined to accomplish, and ill do anything to achieve it.

Joseph H -- Question! Tell Me What You Think About Me?

Article posted October 4, 2012 at 03:31 AM GMT-6 • comment • Reads 305

^ That isn’t a question, it’s an imperative statement. Sometimes, first impressions lead to misconceptions.

Anyway.

1) ‘Tis been nearly half a decade since I last set foot in a classroom, and I’m genuinely happy to be back. I suppose that speaks volumes of my altered state of mind. If you study the principles of learning, which interest me (along with the psychological concept of “flow”), you’ll find that one must be inclined to learn in order to do so. Now, you’re probably thinking, “nah, ya think?” It’s like saying, “you have to want to make a purchase before you fist over the cash.” Granted, this is all rather eye-rollingly obvious, but my point is, it explains the innumerable droves of tykes in schools today who are blatantly uninterested in anything but recess, how fast a clock’s hands move, and the looming weekend’s sleepover. Like them, I once saw little to no value in being all but forced into congregating like sheep in a room with bad chairs and appalling decor to be educated in things I knew I’d never remember anyway, things I didn’t give a hoot about. Thus, any attempts anyone made at teaching me in this frame of mind were utterly fruitless, and so I was simply wasting everyone’s time and money, including my own, which, to be honest, I think is pretty funny, although I’m aware that I shouldn’t, but I don’t care. You can easily guess what ended up happening. There is a time for departure, even when there is no certain place to go, but I basically vanished from the scholastic milieu on a whim. Um, well, it was more like the expedient path to spare my sanity… Okay, now, that’s cryptic, but it’s a sleep-inducing tale I’m sure you’ve no interest in whatsoever. Since then, I’ve come to realise that the pursuit of knowledge is an unabashed declaration of ignorance, which the spirit of inquiry haunts. In other words, because I venture a guess that you have no idea what the hell I’m talking about at this point, I’m much more interested in learning these days because of my seemingly insatiable, mostly selfish, desire for knowledge.

This school’s environment seems far more hospitable than... uh, other...ones. Haha, don’t wanna go naming names now. In particular, the people, lack of stairs and eyeball-explodingly aggravating dissonance are things I really like. The small yet efficient space and horseshoe construction in which everything is just a walk around the corner away is great. I used to loathe how getting from one class to another in-between periods in high school was like a flippin’ hiker’s commute. Also, those touch screen Smart Board thingies in, like, every room are pretty damn swish. More money to spend due to the smaller space? I dunno. I think my peers are actually pretty cool people, and given my general dislike of humanity, you can take that as a compliment. :3 I’ve always felt that the best teachers would be people who didn’t like school in their youth, because they’d know what I couldn’t care less about, and be able to teach us, y’know, right; Jody is a living example of this, and I’m happy to know teachers like her even exist. In my experience, you’d either get some snooty cur who took themselves too seriously, or a cloudcuckoolander who was completely out of touch with reality. Here we have a teacher who likes Coca-Cola and omggoodmusic (:’D) who apparently didn’t blacklist me after I wrote her an entire paragraph about how I feel like one of the Angry Birds when dealing with people I deem stupid. So she’s obviously got a good sense of humour. Which I think more teachers need. Desperately. Speaking of the autobiography, it was slightly challenging for me to write, because, well, I’m not a narcissist. I obviously enjoy writing, just... not about myself. EVER.

There’s great irony in the fact that we’ve all decided to be here ourselves, and thus are more focused, determined, and motivated than we ever were in our teens, and yet, the most laid-back, easy going mellow vibe permeates our days. That’s probably one of the best things about being here, really.

2) You need something in order to gain something. I require nothing to succeed except my strong desire to do so. I don’t have time to be defeated.

My first impression on the class was that I was pretty much familiar with the class, some of the classmates, the school and also the teacher.I was supprised with the class being so full this year with a lot of new students. I wondered why the class was so quiet, my opinion is that today was just the first class, and later on they will probaly get to know each other and not be so quiet. I like that when we are not that ready to hand in our assignments, Judy is very nice and flexible about the due dates.

This year I want to try to hand in all my assignments on time and not miss that many classes. I am sure that if we do have any trouble on any assignments, Judy will be there to help us. I think that the ciricculam this year is a little bit different than last year because we started a little earlier on some of the assignments. Hopefully this year we are going to have more time to work on poetry because we did not have that much time to do poetry last semester.

This is my first time here at Mcleod education center. I went to Transcona for about a month when I was 19. This school is a pretty good size, the classrooms are kind of small for the amount of students they have in them. Mostly everybody is friendly. Jody is a good teacher she explains things very well so that I think everybody understands. I’m not to fond of the work we have done or are going to do but English is not my favourite subject. My first impressions of this class was man I don’t like English but its not as bad as I remember. To ensure I succeed as an adult student I’m going to try and make it to every class so I know whats going on. I’m going to apply myself to my work especially English as that is my weakest subject. I will ask questions when I need help instead of being quiet. Most importantly though im just going to succeed because its something I want to do for myself.

My first impression of the class was that we have alot of students, some of them from last year and I am glad that I have some of my friends from last year.
it is not my first time at school, the good thing is that I know almost all the teachers and I know very well the building, very clean and with a nice environment.About the class room I can said that has the proper stuff and has a good ilumination and big enought for the students.
The teacher is very well prepared and very nice with every student very helpful and i love the way she works with us.
the work that we had done so far is not too fast but our teacher Jody is always come with something hard to be done and that makes me crazy and sometimes stressful because I dont want to be behind with my assignments, but i think is that the way it is .
part 2.For this semester I would like to work hard and put all my effort on my homeworks, that way I can learn and understand all about English; I know that wiil be hard but I will try my best.

Part 1) My first impression of this class is that it was held in the same room that I had been in for the last four semesters. This helped to lessen my anxiety as I knew exactly where to go.When I walked into the classroom,I recognized many friendly faces from my previous classes. This instantly made me feel more comfortable,as the first day of class is always the most difficult.I even chose the same seat that I had sat in for the last four semesters. This gave me a sense of familiarity, and helped me to relax. This was the first time that I had registered for a class without knowing the name of the teacher.I was hoping that it would be Jody Ferguson,as I had her for grade eleven and she was an excellent teacher.I also think that it is a good idea to stay with the same teacher,as they have different teaching methods and styles. Some of the work that we have done so far is similar to last year, like the Autobiography Assignment and the Blogs. The article "The Gist Generation" is new to me as well as the Writing Variables Assignment. The work that we plan to do looks similar to last year,as far as the major assignments.I know that the work is going to be more difficult because it is at an advanced level, but at least I have the benefit of experience from last year. The course outline is again clear and reasonable.

Part 2) This semester I will ensure that I succeed as an adult student again by attending every class possible, completing all my assignments and participating in group discussions.I plan on working very hard and doing as well or better than I did in grade eleven.

My first impression of the school was it is small, no air conditioning and my class has a lot of students. I haven’t been in school for about 10 years, so a lot has changed. I thought it was gonna be easy work to fly by in, but I was wrong each day it gets harder and harder and more work. My class has a variety of students young to old. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The teacher expects a high level of work and writing which I need to practice and get help with. I think maybe as we go farther into the course out line it seems to get easier because we will be doing actual assignments and not just practicing or just learning how to do them. Like the reading and writing assignments coming up are pretty basic I think.
This semester I plan to graduate and get my diploma. To do that I need to work hard, do my homework and ask questions when I need to and just focus to get it all done.

It has been awhile since I have attended school. When I have registered for my classes i felt great because I am looking forward in finishing my grade 12 after words moving forward with my Education. This is my first time attending Mcloud adult ed. The first day of classes I realized how confortable the school building was to me it is not too big and not small it is a nice size for an adult ed. I am taking two classes this semester. Both class rooms I am in during the week are a nice size class, I feel comfortable in the rooms, the people in the class seem to be great, the teachers that teach the two classes I am in are great they are very understanding to me and respectful and they do explain the work clearly to me. The work that has been done so far is good the outline of the course is good as well the work is going very well and the explaining. This year for when I attend school I will do my best to be present in class and I will get my work done during class if homework get that done as well I will get all my assignment handed in on time my plan is to succeed my courses and complete my courses and I feel very positive in doing so.

My first impression of this class is the people I’ve met and got first-impressions from this far, are fairly normal (in a good way), the building is kind of strange because we share it with preschoolers and that makes me feel even more foolish for being 25 and finishing my GED. The work so far and I assume for the work to come, is challenging me to realistically assess my abilities, and teaching me to appreciate that I’m going to make a lot of mistakes in this class and if I don’t get a 90 or even 80 something mark, I will be ok with that. I see my success in this class in one fairly simple, but rather prominent rule, never give up. I know that there are going to be times when I’m going to just become sick over the idea that I’m still in high school. I don’t have a car (or a license for that sake) and pedaling my ass to school or dragging my posterior onto a bus every day until January, is going to take its toll at points and I’m going to want to just say “bleep it”. But I will have to remain strong and talk to Jody when things get too bad and always stick to that golden rule.

My first impressions are very good, there are a lot of new students in this class. Everyone is still very quiet as we all are just starting to get to know each other. I am glad that Jodi is my teacher again, as I got to know her in grade 11 and this makes it a little easier because I am comfortable asking for help. It’s also comforting to start this new classroom with some of my classmates from previous class. The work so far is easy but knowing Jodi she gives us easy work at first and then comes the hard assignments. It’s not going to be easy but I will do my best to get them done on time.
I will try my best to pay attention and participate in class. English is my second language and because I learned to speak it very fast and have almost no accent. I wasn’t as fortunate with my grammar and sometimes I don’t understanding what I read perhaps because I don’t understand some meanings of words when I’m reading. I have learned allot since I started at McLeod and will continue to work on my grammar.
I know that in order for me to succeed I will be in class everyday and make sure I hand in all my work.
My goal is to graduate with a good mark.

Part 1) The first couple days we had so many students! The work is getting overwhelming already, because I have lots of Math to do everyday! The courses so far are similar to last years. I like that most of my friends I met last year are in this class this year. I’m glad Jody’s flexible with due dates on assignments. I still have work to catch up on in this class.

Part 2) I’ll try my best to complete assignments for the due date or at least not long after. The same things I did last year, but this time I’ll have to try to balance it with Math. I’ll study before tests. I’ll try to use the agree model in assignments/blogs. I’ll try to make time to do homework, take breaks, but also have enough time to do my Math homework (if I’m able to). I’ll ask my friends in this class for help if im stuck, google it or ask my sister.
