Who Decides Where You Go? Dr. Seuss is well known for his stunning and whimsical children books. I remember when I was reading his books as a child I was almost in another world. When I grew up, I almost forgot his menial books, all dusty and stored up in my closet. Then today, I read a quote from “Oh, the Places You'll Go!” and realized Dr. Seuss had something else in some of his books.

I believe Dr. Seuss had a deeper meaning in the quote I read earlier. Each line meant something more than it seemed to be. I think what Dr. Seuss was trying to tell us was that we are in control of our future. It is up to us to choose where we go in life. Also in the quote was the line “You're on your own.” This is very true especially in today’s society. The only person you can count on is yourself; if you put your life into someone else’s hands, you will fail. It’s you and the world. You only have your feet to lead you and your brain to help you.

This quote means a lot to me in a personal way. I am a sophomore getting ready to go and pick colleges and continue my future. I only have me, and I’ll decide where I’ll go. This quote speaks on many levels for many other people, but I feel it means more to someone going through what Dr. Seuss explained. As an older individual going back and reading a quote from a book I read years ago as a child, I can say I’ll never think of Dr. Seuss in the same childish way again.
