What an amazing journey we are on, discovering all the ways technology can help us to learn more, share more, and become more. There is something new and exciting around every bend.

Ever heard of Liechtenstein?

Article posted May 15, 2013 at 02:13 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 159

In our class we recently a Europe project where every student got their own project and did a report on that country. In this project I learned how people live now and in the past of Liechtenstein, land, population and more. Many of the coutries we did not learn about in class but with this project we learned about some of these countries. My country was Liechtenstein, I've never even heard of the country and when saw it I was amazed. Liechtenstein is less than half the size of Rhode Island and thats only a little bit of the project!

The Technology of the School

Article posted April 3, 2013 at 12:58 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 67

Over the past few months our class has been giving online technology surveys, and i'm going to tell you my experience. It started by looking at infographics of other people to get an idea how to make it. To make the infographic we first made a survey on a Google form, where you make questions and possible answers/typeable answers. For example I did my survey for first grade so I typed in a question like do you have an iPad? After I made the questions the first grade took the survey. A few of the things I would have done differently are asking more interesting and less likely questions that would have a more varied result. Example being if you had an email, considering my one friend used a similar question and the result shocked him, considering at 2nd grade, which is who he surveyed, no one had an email but when we were in second grade we did.

In the next step we took are results and put them in a Microsoft Powerpoint. First thing we did was look at an infographic to see how to do a infographic in a powerpoint. Next thing we did was make the powerpoint and add text for the info, title, question, etc. Along with this we used the shape tool to make things like a man figure or woman figure, graphs, and more. Each page of the powerpoint had a different question and results. In the making of the PowerPoint to a infographic we used the method CARP- which stands for contrast, alignment, repetition, and proximity which gave mine and many others infographics better. With all this in mind the infographics give people important or intresting facts in an easy to understand way and thats the value of it. With all this good infographics are great and helpful with a great way to learn about things. To see the my infographic full size click the small picture of my infographic.

The Roller Coaster Project

Article posted April 24, 2012 at 09:40 AM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 672

In science class we about roller coasters and how they work. The main reason they work is based off of Newton's three law's. The First Law is also called the Law of Interia. The First Law says that a object will stay at rest or in motion unless acted on by another force. It is also called the Law of Inertia because interia means the same as law 1. Law 2 says that acceleration of an object depends on how much it weighs and the size of it. I f the net forces increase the acceleration increases. Law 3 When a force acts on the object  the object exerts the same amount of force in the opposite direction. You need momentum to stop the object.

Then after we learned everything about roller coasters we had a project about roller coaster where one person was a Lawyer, one was Physicist, one person as Historian, and one as Design Engineer. The Lawyer had to research laws about roller coasters in all states and around the world, and their restrictions. The Historian told about the history of roller coasters, the fastest, longest, and the oldest and anything to do with that. Design Engineer sees what you can use to make a roller coaster, how it works, and how it starts the roller coaster. Now the Physicist which was my job so i'll give you more info on it. The Physicist figures out all the information on how it works, what most are made of, what forces and energys come into play and how they test them. I learned that there are to main things of roller coaster needed are to energys Potential and Kinetic. Potential energy is the energy needed to get the roller coaster up hills and around yhe loops. Kinetic energy is the speed of the roller coaster going down hills and coming down in the loop. With out these energys roller coasters would not work.

The image below is my roller coaster attempt where it did not work. From the begging it was going fast after the first loop it was finishing but as it kept going it was going to fast and then went past the end. We did the roller coaster on The Jason Project Roller Coaster.

Finally our team got one to work. It was going to slow from the hill so we made it bigger. than it was to fast. Than we added another hill to slow it down. it was still to fast so we added a loop at the end and another hill. Than it worked and we couldn't think of a name, but than we found a pencil and wanted to call it ''The Pencil'' but thought it was too boring and called it the "The Sharp Pencil".

My Interview with the Great King Tut

Article posted December 19, 2011 at 02:11 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 100

RF: It is my pleasure to be with maybe most well-known Ancient Egyptian Pharaoh King Tut I want to know some things that most people wouldn't know. If you don't mind I would love to start with your early age.

KT: Sure I would love to answer your questions.

RF: A lot of people don't know of your childhood. What things did you play with. What did you do besides playing?

KT:

When I was born Egypt was the superpower of two countrys. As a child I usually was learning, hunting, and swimming. Since I was next in line for the throne I didn't do much else because at the age of nine I took the throne which happened because I was next line when my father died.

RF: Why did you take the throne at such a early age and what was it like at the time of your ruling?

KT: I took the throne at a early age because my father was driven out of town andI was next in line for the throne
because when his father was in rule he was worshiping a different god then everyone else people were.

RF: What was your birth name and why did you change it?

KT: My original name was Tutankaten which means living image of Aten. I changed it to Tutankhamun because my father was in religous termoil so I changed to Tutankhamun which means living image of Amun. My father was worshiping Aten more than other gods and the people of Egypt rebelled and drove him out of town.

RF: How did you die and during what time?

KT: I died by being murder from the head because my mummy was found with a bash in my skull. The only person that could of murdered me was someone that worked with me. During the time
I died Egypt was in a war.

RF: This is my last question for you is why did it take so long to find your tomb and why was it in such good condition?

KT: Since I wasn't in power so long many people forgot about me. I was buried in the Valley of the Kings and my tomb was hidden from being there so long so it took five years to find my tomb. Since my tomb was so hidden robbers couldn't find my tomb so it could not get robbed so that is why my tomb was in such perfect condition.

R
F: Thank you for your time King Tut because of your tomb you are one of the most well-known pharaohs and have helped in history. Good to be working with you today.

Constitution Post 5- The Amendments

Article posted May 8, 2011 at 07:48 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 919

I am going to tell you three of the twenty-six Amendments. The first Amendment gives our freedom of liberties, like freedom of religion, freedom of speech, free press, right to assemble, and the right to petition the government when we want. The tenth Amendment says any power not given to the federal government is given to the states and the people. The nineteenth Amendment gives the women in every state the right to vote in federal elections (The nineteenth Amendment did not come in until 1919). Those are three of the twenty-six Amendments and the other twenty-three are just as important.

Constitution Post 3- Three Principles

Article posted May 1, 2011 at 02:25 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 757

I will tell you the Three Principles. The first Principle is The Separation of Powers. The Separation of powers that means the government is divided into three branches of government the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial. Another is Checks and Balance. Checks and Balance limits the powers of each branch, and assures that each one works with the other so that one does not become more powerful. The next one is called Shared Powers. Shared Powers is that the states have some power, the federal has some power, and they share some power. Those are the Three Principles of the Constitution.
