The Millennium Development Goals provide some benchmarks for tackling excessive poverty in many places. They also provide work for the entire international community to work together towards an end to this. If these goals are achieved, world poverty will be reduced, millions of lives will be saved, and more people will have the opportunity to benefit from the economy.
The Eight Millennium Development Goals want to help end extreme poverty and world hunger. They also want to achieve universal primary education, promote gender equality and empower women. The Millennium Development Goals are as well trying to reduce child mortality. They are trying to improve maternal health and cure diseases such as HIV/AIDS, malaria, etc. It also wants to ensure environmental sustainability. The eighth goal is to develop a Global Partnership for Development.
Progress has been made on the fifth Millennium Development Goal. The goal is to improve maternal health; this has been improved by now increasing care during pregnancy and childbirth. Another progress in this goal is in low and middle income countries, childbirth is now performed by skilled assistants.

MDGs, or Millenium Developement Goals, are promises to achieve world wide needs. In the year 2000, 189 leaders from around the world met at the Millenium Summit in New York to develop these eight goals. The main goal is to help our future generations in many areas. They made a promsie to achieve these set goals by 2015.
The following are the eight MDGs 1.Erradicate extreme Poverty and hunger: 1.2 billion people live with less than $1.00 per day and 800 people are malnourished. 2. Achieve universal primary education: 115 million children are not enrolled in school. 3. Promote gender equality and empower women: 60 percent of children not enrolled in primary school are women. 4. Reduce child mortality: 153 million children are below their ideal weight. 5. Improve maternal health: Anually, 500 women die while giving birth or during their pregnancy. 6. Combat HIV/Aids, malaria and other diseases: 13 million children lose their parents to the HIV virus per year. 7. Ensure enviornmental sustainability: 14 percent of the world's population (in the developing world) produces 14 percent of the years carbon dioxide total. 8: Develop a global partnership for development.
On World food Day, which occurs on October 16, some UN agencies focused on the need to make sure that children around the world were not hungry. They also talked about the need of making food more affordable so that everyone can buy it. This day was one step towards achieving the MDGs!

In 2000, 189 leaders from different countries met in New York. They discussed the major problems around the world. During the meeting they created the MDGs (Millenium Development Goals). These goals were meant to solve these issues.
These leaders made eight of these MDGs. Some of the MDGs were eradicate extreme hunger and poverty, achieve universal primary education, promote gender equality and empower women, and reduce child mortality. The rest of them are to improve maternal health, combat HIV/Aids, malaria and other diseases, ensure enviromental sustainability, and develop a global partnership for development.
One of the goals has made a step forward recently. It was the "combat HIV/Aids, malaria and other disease" goal. On October 25, 2011, UN invited young people to create it's HIV/Aids strategy through social media.

In the year 2000 leaders from around the world came together to set Millennium Development Goals for the world to try and meet by the year 2015.These goals had to do with health, financial positions, and living conditions. They came up with a total of eight goals for the world to meet, we only have 4 years left, can we meet these goals?
These goals are:
1. End poverty and hunger
2. Improve Universal Education
3.Promote Gender Equality
4. Child Health
5. Maternal Health
6. Combat HIV/Aids
7.Environmental Sustainability
8. Global Partnership
These goals may seem impossible to reach, but together we can do it. Some schools have already started trying to meet these goals by starting projects to "inspire students to learn about international humanitarian issues, empower students to take action for international causes, and connect students and educators to a network of other schools committed to thinking critically and exploring new perspective on global issues." (Quoted from www.concerusa.com; link above.) If we all come together, we can make a difference.

The Millenium Development Goals were formed because the next millenium will have things to worry about that will endanger the future generations of living things. About 1 billion people have to live with as little as a $1.00 or less per day. Millions of people don't have enough food to survive and many are below the ideal weight. Some kids in are not capable to go to school and most women are neglected from school and are forced to make most of the population of refugees. Children die every year from disease that could have been prevented but are not getting the needed attention. Also, women die before or while giving birth. Some live without sanitary water. Countries came together to make a commitment with a deadline of 2015 to stop all of this.
The 8 Millenium Development Goals are: 1) Erradicate extreme poverty and hunger, 2) Achieve universal primary education, 3) Promote gender equality and empower women, 4) Reduce child mortality, 5) Improve maternal health, 6) Combat HIV/Aids, malaria and other diseases, 7) Ensure environmental sustainability, and 8) Develop a global partnership for development.
The UN Information Centres organized the "Stand Up Against Poverty" campaign. It was held on the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. There they held sports competitions, concerts, debates, and more. They included students, artists, farmers, and others. I got this information here.

This picture is of children of the Ambororo nomadic tribe in South Darfur carrying water in plastic containers for their families. And I got this from United Nations Photo's photo stream.
There needs to be international awareness on the millennium development goals for 2015! The millennium development goals for 2015 are issues that deal with water, hunger, child survival, child labor, women rights, HIV and aids, displacement, and education. These are the problems that countries around the world hope to solve by 2015 and by solving these universal problems we can eradicate huge death rates and help form a stronger society as a whole.
1. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
2. Achieve universal primary education
3. Promote gender equality and empower women
4. Reduce child mortality
5. Improve maternal health
6. Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases
7. Ensure environmental sustainability
8. Develop a global partnership for development
One project underway for goal numbers one, five, six, eight is the company Sanofi Aventis. Sanofi Aventis' specific goals are to conduct research and develop partnerships with outside organizations that work in the field of malaria treatment or prevention. They are trying to increase the number of African countries where ASAQ is available at cost for public markets. They are also working on improving care provided by healthcare professionals for the treatment of malaria and improving local populations' ability to protect them against the risk of contracting malaria. They are also working on increasing the number of patients who have access to Sanofi Aventis antimalarial drugs through public and private markets. They have so far set up a Research and Development program for infectious diseases. They also launch a clinical center in Africa. They also brought medical personnel into help. They also are monitoring sales and public markets. I'm very proud and relieved to know that there are companies like my dad's that are trying to change the world for the better.

Millennium Development Goals are goals that were made by leaders from 189 nations in the year 2000. These goals were made to help future generations and to help people all around the world become healthier. They also help to free millions of people from poverty and stop preventable diseases. They would like to achieve the Millennium Development Goals by the year 2015.
The 8 Millennium Development Goals are to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger, achieve universal primary education, promote gender equality and empower women, reduce child mortality, improve maternal health, combat HIV/AIDS, reduce malaria as well as other diseases, ensure environmental sustainability, and develop a global partnership for development.
The projects are working. In 2005, Malawi only had a 43% national food deficit. Then, in 2007, they achieved 53% food surplus. They achieved this goal through a national input subsidy program. Also, Nicaragua reduced its hunger rate by more than half, from 52% to 21%.

Noticing that there were so many problems going on in our world, many nations came together in 2000 and created 8 goals that weren't the easiest to achieve, but weren't impossible. They are called the Millennium Development Goals. These goals ensured that if they were achieved, there would be a lot of improvement in our world. Together we can help achieve these goals by the set year - 2015.
These goals are:
1. Eradicate (put an end to) extreme poverty and hunger
2. Achieve universal primary education
3. Promote gender equality and empower women
4. Reduce child mortality
5. Improve maternal health
6. Combat HIV/Aids, malaria and other diseases
7. Ensure environmental sustainability
8. Develop a global partnership for development
On September 25, 2008, there was an event at the United Nations Headquarters to raise money for these goals with the help of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and General Assembly President Miguel D'Escoto. With the help of governments, foundations, businesses, and civil society groups they raised quite a lot of money. They made almost $16 billion all together. This included $1.6 billion to help fight hunger, $4.5 billion for education and $3 billion to fight malaria.

The MDGs are to the rescue! These large, and hard to achieve projects are here for a reason. We need to help others with malnutrition, preventable diseases, and much much more! If you want to learn more about the MDGs click on this - MoreAboutTheMDGs
The MDGs are good to know and helpful suggestions to help improve our world. Here are the eight MDGs:
1. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
2. Achieve universal primary education
3. Promote gender equality and empower women
4. Reduce child mortality
5. Improve maternal health
6. Combat HIV/Aids, malaria and other diseases
7. Ensure environmental sustainability
8. Develop a global partnership for development
The MDGs are not being ignored. We as a society are trying to improve the problems in the world today. In September 2000, 189 nations came together and said that the MDGs had to be achieved by 2015. They made a promise that day to erase all these prevetable problems and are continuing today to do so. Our countries are trying to improve maternal health by attending to births in developing countries with skilled professionals. This has increased by more than 25% in the last few years. Maternal health needs to improve for the future of our developing countries. If we fail to do this , there might not be a future. To find out more click on these words:ImprovingMaternalHealth.

The Millennium Development Goals were started in 2000. 189 Nations made a promise to free people from extreme poverty, hunger and diseases. This pledge became known as the 8 Millennium Development Goals. These Goals are to be achieved by 2015. If every country joins in we can all make a difference. If you want more information about these goals click here! Please take the time to read this and the articles attached. People need to know about these things, and you can help by reading this blog and telling other people to read it too.
Here are the8 Millennium Development Goals:
- Water: To create sanitary water to the countries needed.
- Hunger: To make sure that all children and adults get food. To make sure that people are not malnourished in any country.
- Child Survival: To make sure that all children will survive. Did you know that 153 million children are below their ideal weight?
- Child Labor: Annually 500 thousand women die when giving birth or during their pregnancy. In Africa's Sub-Saharan region 1 in 6 women die in these conditions.
- Education: 115 million children are NOT enrolled in school.
- Women's Rights: 64% of the Wolrd's illiterate population is women. 60% of children NOT enrolled in primary school are girls/women.
- Displacement: 80% of the world's refugee population is women.
- HIV and AIDS/Diseases: Every year 10 million children die of preventable diseases. In the year 2000, 22 million people died of AIDS.
There was progress in Malawi! Malawi achieved a 53% food surplus in 2007. Going from a 43% food surplus in 2005. That is a 10% difference to the people living in Malawi! The people in Malawi really appreciate all of the people that helped them to get food. I hope you will take the time to help people, not only in Malawi but the people in many other countries. People can say that they "helped" but in reality... The question is will you take the time to read this blog, read the articles that are attached, and help someone who is willing to help you if it were you in this type of situation?
Will You?

In 2000, one hundred eighty-nine countries banded together to come up with eight ways to make the world a better place. They created the Millennium Development Goals. These goals were hoped to have taken place by 2015.
One of the eight goals is gender equality in developing countries. Another of the goals is to have Universal Education. Universal Education would give children who are in poor countries the capability to get good jobs to make more money. Possibly the most well-known goals is to end poverty and hunger. Child and maternal health are also well-known goals. Environmental sustainability is a goal that is highly important because without the earth's natural resources, we won't be able to produce many important projects. Combating HIV/AIDS is an important goal because these diseases claim the lives of so many people every year. The last goal is global partnership. This is working to create a free market trading system in developing countries.
One foundation focused on the MDG's is the Global Educators For All Initiative. They are working to spread awareness of the goals and to teach you how you can help. The course has educated many people who have in turn, contributed their time and efforts to completing the MDGs. This is just one of many corporations that are trying to make the MDG's occur by 2015.

The Millennium Development Goals are 8 goals the UN has decided to strive to achieve by 2015. They involve things such as poverty, hunger, and improved global healthcare. Several of these things are unknown to some people and should be known well. Here is one website about the Millennium Development Goals.
There are 8 Millennium Development Goals; the first Goal is to end poverty and hunger. Another extremely important Goal is to start Universal Education because there are many poor countries where very few people are yet educated, other than extremely wealthy people. The third is Gender Equality. This is another thing many people don't realize is very real still into the modern world. There are still societies that are very unfair for women where women still don't have basic rights, such as voting if the country allows it. The fourth is Child Health. There are many diseases we are given vaccines for as small children and don't realize that in countries where extremely poor people are the main society, children die from diseases we will never get because of vaccinations. The fifth is Maternal Health. This is another very important thing because if a mother is very unhealthy, the child could have birth defects and die, or die because it cannot get the necessary nutrients. The sixth is to combat HIV and AIDS. These are two very dangerous diseases that need to be stopped and destroyed because they are very deadly in many poor countries. The seventh is Environmental Sustainability. We need to keep the environment clean because while this will keep nature alive and thriving, it can also help reduce disease. Finally, Global Partnership is the last and eighth Millennium Development Goal. People need to help each other, especially country to country aid. This is important because these countries are too poor to help themselves.
One project for the Millennium Development Goals is shown in the Global Concerns Classroom. Its concerns involve spreading information about global issues through family, friends, and school. It also encourages people to help the Millennium Development Goals. Here is a link to the website.

On September 6, 2000, world leaders from 186 countries decided they were going to make a change. They met at the Millennium Summit in New York and developed eight goals they want to accomplish in the world by 2015. These eight goals are called the Millennium Development Goals. To read more about these inspiring goals, click here.
These are the eight Millennium Development Goals:
1. Eradicate Extreme Poverty & Hunger
2. Achieve Universal Primary Education
3. Promote Gender Equality and Empower Women
4. Reduce Child Mortality
5. Improve Maternal Health
6. Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Other Diseases
7. Ensure Environmental Sustainability
8. Develop a Global Partnership for Development
One instance of working toward one of the goals is called Free Rice. Free Rice is an educational game that empowers children and adults to get involved and exercise their brain. On Free Rice, there are various subjects, skills, and levels. that ask you questions such as. "What does the work remorse mean?" If you get the answer right, ten grains, or a bowl, of rice will be given to a child in Africa for free. If you answer ten questions right in a row, you have donated 100 grains, or a bowl, of rice. This website is working toward the goal "Eradicate Extreme Poverty and Hunger". To play Free Rice and help change the world, click here.

In the year 2000 189 leaders from around the world met at the historic Millennium Summit in New York. According to the secretary-general of the UN the UN's goal for the next millennium will be crucial making it a focal point for joint efforts in the world. present statistics say there is danger for generations to come.

- Eradicate world poverty
- achive universial education for everyone

- Get rid of child mortality
- Save trees and have less deforestation
There are projects underway for diseases such as malaria Aids and H. The one that I think should be spent the most time is trying to get all children to school. This should be worked on because children need education with children not going to school there will be many of the things happening to children that they are trying to prevent that wouldn’t happen if they were in school. People are also bringing food, supplies, shoes, and clothes. Watch this video for more infomation.quietube2.com/v.php/http://www.youtube.com/watch

The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are the plans that the world leaders had made in 2000 and were set to be achieved by 2015. The MDGs are a list of goals that we are trying to get the entire nation to do and to work together to save the lives of millions of people. Billions of more people will have the chance to benefit from our global economy.
The first MDG is eradicating extreme poverty and hunger, the second is achieving universal primary education. The third is promoting gender equality and empower women; the fourth is to reduce child mortality. The fifth is to improve maternal health, and the sixth is to combat HIV/AIDs malaria and other diseases. The seventh is ensuring environmental sustainability, and the eight is to develop a global partnership for development.
An example of something they are doing to help achieve the MDGs is people are building wells in poor countries that don’t have clean water. They have cut down deaths of dehydration about 10 percent and less people are getting diseases from unsanitary water. This is only one of the many ways to help with the MDGs.

In 2000 world leaders came together in New York to discuss what they wanted to happen within the next fifteen years. They came up with eight rules called the Millennium Development Goals. They wanted to help the world out with problems including hunger and disease. If you want to learn more about these goals (which will be introduced in the next paragraph), click here.
World leaders came up with eight goals that they thought would help make the world a better place. These goals are: 1 ending poverty and hunger, 2 to give all children universally an education, 3 to make men and women equal with all of the same rights, 4 that all children will stay healthy with enough food and vaccinations, 5 that women that are pregnant get the help and care they need to deliver and keep the child alive and healthy, 6 to eliminate/help treat people with AIDS/HIVs, 7 to stop deforestation(the cutting down of trees) and help keep our water unpolluted and natural environments clean, and 8 to work together and become one world with global partnership providing support for all countries.
One project that is underway is the organization Un Women. It tries to make women equal and have the same rights as men. It was created and immediately started trying to get women more power. If you would like to know more about the Un Women Foundation click here.

In 2000, the United Nations came up with a plan. They came up with 8 millennium delvelopment goals. The goal of this plan was to better our world by achieving these goals by 2015. To visit the UN Millennium Goal website, click here.
These goals were: 1. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger. 2.Achieve universal primary education. 3.Promote gender equality and empower women. 4. Reduce child mortality. 5. Improve maternal health. 6. Combat Hiv/Aids, malaria, and other diseases. 7. Ensure environmental sustainability. 8.Develop a global partnership for development.
Work has begun on all of the goals in many countries. In 2004, the number of people who are undernourished in Ghana has fallen to 9% of the population from 34% in 2004. Chlid mortality has declined 14% in Zambia from 1990 to 2008. We can make this happen, maybe not by 2015 but definitely in the next 15 years. If we join together, we can do this. I used the Un Millennium goals website.
