One thing that I learned in this unit was that bases are a compound that releases hydoxide ions when dissolved in water. I also learned some examples of acids. They are vinegar, lemon, orange juice, & soda water. I learned about the pH scale too. I learned that the lower the number is on the scale, the stronger the acid is. The higher the number is on the scale, the stronger the base is. The thing I liked best in this unit was doing the "chemistry in a bag" lab because it was cool to see the calcium chloride change colors & get really hot. Hi! I'm 108P and I'm in Mr. Lampus's homeroom. My favorite hobby is drawing. I have one brother and I used to play softball. My favorite subject in school is math. What I like about 6th grade is that we get more privileges than in 5th grade. I dislike that we get more homework and it is harder. I'm looking forward to doing the cool projects in social studies and science this year.

In this unit, I learned that matter can expand and contract when heated or cooled. I also learned that heat is created many different ways. I also learned that hot air rises and cool air sinks. My favorite thing in this unit was the popcorn lab because it showed you how many different ways you can make popcorn. We also got to try the popcorn. My least favorite thing was the balloon and water bottle lab. Did you enjoy the food coloring lab?
