2m blog#1 The main conflict of the book The Contender by Robert Lipsyte is that Alfred’s best friend is going to rob the store where Alfred works for the money that is supposedly inside. Alfred forgets to tell him about the silent alarm and so James gets caught by the police. Then this makes Alfred start to think he wants to be someone other than that lazy high school dropout. Alfred starts going to Donutelli’s boxing gym and becomes determined to be someone. That is how Alfred becomes resilient by the main conflict.
