Stuff I Learned About Myself This Year

Did you ever look around you and see that you are kind of alone even among people you know?  Do you ever wonder why?  Is it the choices that you made? This year I learned that the choices I’ve made have separated me from my closest friends in some ways.  I have stayed in school, stayed out of juvenile court, and am able to have fun without getting into trouble.

Staying in school has not been easy.  A lot of my closest friends have quit school.  They have jobs.  Some of their jobs are better than others.  Some of my closest friends quit school and got in trouble with the law.  They are not working good jobs because of the choices they made about quitting school.  There are a lot of opportunities you can have with a high school diploma.  You will miss them if you do not have one.

I have never been to juvenile court, but I know people who have.  It is probably something I would not like to try.  It is the closest you can get to jail without actually going.  The only thing stopping you from actually going to jail is your age.  You can go to jail if you are under 18, but it depends on how your court hearing goes.  I found out that what you do when you are young impacts your life very strongly when you become an adult. You can’t get a job if you are a convicted felon or were in jail for most of your teenage years.  When you go for a job interview they will look at your record.  They will not want someone who has been in jail for their entire teenage life.

I have learned that to have fun does not always mean getting into trouble.  School is a very important thing to have in life because it will impact your life very strongly.

In conclusion, I have tried to make the right choices about staying in school and staying out of trouble.  It is not always easy, but it is the right thing to do.  I have to rethink getting into trouble almost every day.  So remember to make the right choices.  It will make your life a lot better.

Dear Freshy

Article posted May 21, 2012 at 06:45 PM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 195

Dear Freshy,

The 9th grade is not all that hard or complicated you just really can’t let yourself get behind on any work. If you are someone who likes to skip school all the time you won’t pass 9th grade. The reason why you won’t pass the 9th grade is because when you miss days of school the teacher’s don’t just hand you the work you miss. The next day you have to know what work you missed and when you are going to get it done and handed in.

The teachers in 9th grade don’t really push you all that hard. They just want to see you get good grades and pass. Sometimes it may feel like your being rushed, but they are only trying to help you.  You also need to realize that you have to push yourself in order to make your school year easy.

In conclusion, it is not all that hard.  It may seem hard at first, but as long as your push yourself, your will pass.  Your school year will be easy if you don’t get behind.

Sincerely,

Richard

How to Start a Dead Car Battery

Has your car battery ever died?  Have you ever been unable to start your car?  Have you ever been able to start a dead car battery?  Knowing how to start a dead car battery is good to know.  Here are the steps to start a dead car battery:

1.      Open the hood of your car.

2.      Grab jumper cables (smart to keep a pair in the trunk).

3.      Call somebody with a good battery.

4.      Open the hood of the car with the charged battery.

5.      Hook red cable to the weak battery positive post.

6.      Hook up the red cable to the running battery positive post.

7.      Hook black cable to the weak battery negative post.

8.      Hook black cable to the running battery negative post or engine block.

9.      Try starting the dead car battery.

10.  If it starts remove cables in reverse order.

Keep the car running to recharge the alternator and battery.  Batteries always tend to die at times when you really need your car.  It doesn’t take long to fix the problem if you are prepared.  Now, you know how to start a dead car battery.  Don’t forget to keep a pair of jumper cables in your trunk.

 Ready!

Are you counting the days until school is out?  Are you having trouble concentrating in classes?  Would you rather be outside in the sun?  If so, it sounds like you are ready for school to get out for the summer.

I am so ready for school to end. There are lots of reasons I want school to finally end. I think a lot of kids my age would agree with some of my reasons. Some of the reasons would are no more homework everyday.  No work that you have to make sure you get done for certain classes. There are no more projects you have to do and get done on a certain deadline.

Plus, when school ends in the summer you don’t have to worry about keeping your grades up anymore.  You don’t have to worry about bombing a test.  You don’t have to be worried about not being able to study for an exam or finals.

Another bonus is that you do not have to get up so early in the morning to go to school all day.  You do not have to switch plans around or just try to make plans on the weekends.  You don’t have to go to bed at a decent time because you don’t have to wake up to go to school.

If you go on a trip out of town where you are going to miss school, you don’t have to make up all of the back work that you missed.  Another great thing is that you do not have to worry about being bored everyday.

I think most kids and teachers feel the exact same way because the end of school is getting so close.  Are you ready for summer?  I know I am.

FEMINISM in SWTWC

Construction Theory – feminism

Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury

Richard P.

A feminist would criticize the story, Something Wicked This Way Comes, by Ray Bradbury because there are no positive examples of women in the story.

One reason a feminist would criticize the story is because the boys’ seventh grade teacher, Miss Foley, is weak and falls for Mr. Darks’ carnival games. She is warned by Will not to go in the carnival, but she goes in the carnival anyway. Then in Chapter 32 she gets on the carousel and gets turned back into a little girl. She is a very weak character.

Another reason a feminist would criticize this story is because the only strong female character is the Dust Witch and she is evil. She is Mr. Dark’s best villain because she almost stopped Mr. Halloway’s heart and she can feel souls and emotions and control people. She is a strong female character but she is evil.

In conclusion, a feminist would criticize the story,” Something Wicked This Way Comes,” by Ray Bradbury because there are no positive examples of women in the story.

Car Accidents

Article posted January 20, 2012 at 02:40 PM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 256

Skid! Smash! Quiet…This is the sound of a car accident happening. Hopefully, the driver will be conscious and be able to leave the car. By the time the crash happens, it is too late to think of what you could have done. At the very least, you are stuck in a ditch somewhere or you have to fix your car to get it back on the road. Worst case, you are injured or dead.
Everyday safety is a great preventative measure while you are driving your car. Here are some everyday safety rules that you should follow while you are on the road. While you are driving you should always have your seat belt buckled and tight to your body. You should never be in a rush to get anywhere. You should always leave to go someplace at a reasonable time, so you have enough time to get to your destination. If it is foggy, raining, snowing or maybe it is just getting dark, you should always put your lights on.
Finally, you should never have any distractions in the car while you are driving because it only takes one second to take your eyes off the road and get into an accident. There are a lot of different distractions while you are driving a car. Playing with the radio in your car or talking on a cell phone while you are driving is very dangerous. Then there are the bigger distractions such as drinking and driving or eating while you are driving.
In conclusion, there are a lot of safety precautions that you can make everyday habits to better yourself as a driver.
