Evanka Paroso wanted to go to the Julliard School of Music really bad. Evanka was a nice, smart, tall girl. When her piano teacher Vera Cypress told her that she could audition to go to Julliard she was beyond thrilled. Then she realized she might not have the time to practice just for one thing. Click here to find out if Evanka makes it to the Julliard School of Music or not!

Dear Class,
The book I am reading is called Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell. I wonder why Wonapalei has 2 names? When the ship goes without Ramo[her brother] I wonder why she swims back? When Ramo dies Wonapalei must feel very lonely. I think Wonapalei has had a lot of hardships in her life. First, her mom died, then her dad, then she gets seperated from her sister Ulape, Then her brother Ramo dies.
Wonapalei has two names because her real name is Wonapalei but her secret name is Karana. This reminds me of the Native Americans. If I could change the book I would make it less sad. I highly recommend this book. It also won a Newbery Honour award.
Sincerely,
RS
