Explaining Schemas to my Grandma
Dear Grandma,
I thought that you should know what a schema is. A schema is how we think about life. If you believe that your healthy chocolates will help lose weight, then that is a schema of yours. Since you don't enjoy milking cows, then that is another schema that you have.
People have schemas about everything. Some people think that it is ok to eat a bunch of unhealthy foods and drinks. My mom, on the other hand, doesn't like drinks full of dye, or greasy hamburgers. She would rather drink a frog drink (green smoothie full of fruits and vegetables that I have to drink every morning) and a salad.
Other people can have schemas about what there clothes are made of. Some people won't buy anything unless it is made out of cotton. Some people like silk, or poliester. Some buy wool. Then there are the people who don't care, and will wear anything.
People have schemas about what make-up they buy. People who wear some make-up products will get an outbeak on there skin. Those people defiantly have a schema about certain kinds of make-up. Other people will combine different kinds of make-up. They might wear blush from Avon and eyeshadow from Mary Kay. Then there are still those people who don't care what kind of make-up their getting. As long as it's cheap.
There are also people who will go out and buy the cheapest computer. The computer might not be a very good computer, but since it's on sale, they will get it. Some people will go and research what the best computer is, and then buy it. Sometimes it could be expensive, but if it does what they are going to need it to do, they will get it.
So Grandma, that's what a schema is.
Love,
