Choose an experience you were anxious about beforehand, and write an account of this experience being sure to show how you felt before, during, and after the event. Include exactly what worried you, what actually happened, how you felt before, during and after. Show the anxiety of the moment, don't just tell about it. Use vivid description and specific details that bring the writing to life and let the reader feel like they are there with you. Minimum 250 words. Must be typed or neatly written in ink. DUE TOMORROW!

Don't forget to visit the links on the top left for MLA style citations for your research, or the two links on the bottom for information.

Your first mission check is 2/12. I'll be looking for 1 page of notes and two credible sources.

Be sure to comment below if you have any questions.

Over the next few weeks you will be asked to research and become "experts" in the era of WWII. You are then tasked with turning our classroom into a museum, complete with a timeline, exhibits, pictures, artifacts, etc.

Step 1: Begin by familiarizing yourself with the WWII Interactive (bottom link on the left) before 1/29. Comment below with your opinion of the site, so I know you were there.

Step 2: Add something appropriate to the classroom timeline on 1/29.

Step 3: Select a period appropriate historical novel and begin reading by 1/29.

Step 3: Select an historical aspect/element of your novel that you would like to know more about and explore at least three sources for additional information by 2/5. (Do not use Wikipedia.)

Additional steps will be further discussed in class. Good luck!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I hope 2014 will be a wonderful year for all of you.

People often associate a new year with a new challenge or change. The mission of your first assignment of the new year will be to find a published poem that focuses on a new challenge or some kind of change. Post the poem along with the name of the poet. Use text connections to react to the poem. Include one text to text, one text to self, and one text to world.

Text to text: compare the poem you post to another poem or story that you've read.

Text to self: apply the content of the poem to your own life.

Text to world: explain how the poem has a global theme or message. Post your comment no later than 8PM on Thursday 1/31.

As you complete your reading through Progress Report #9, answer the following in a journal/article posted to your own name:

1. Which of Charlie's traits convice Dr. Strauss to use him in the experiment?

2. What hopes does Charlie have for the operation?

3. What are the similarities/differences between Charlie before and after the operation?

4. Analyze the use of dramatic irony and its effects as you read. Be sure to cite textual evidence in your response.
