This site is dedicated to the further development of the literature cannon. Your books are your research. This site is our round-table. Our conversations are the purpose. The Articles below are examples of the articles that will be expected of your book's site. If I have embeded a movie or a picture (or a blabber), you by no means have to, but your creativity and internet savvy are most definitely encouraged. Keep all material as appropriate as you would for any class project though. If you need help with HTML - I have included a link on the left column that could be a great help! I look forward to your book's pages. Have FUN with this!

Ronnie and Will love eachother. Will changed how Ronnie saw the world.

i chose this picture because it is a father and a daughter. And deep down, Ronnie has always loved her father, like the girl in this picture. Ronnie was only mad at him, because her hurt her when he left.

Nicholas Sparks has touched me with his books. He is an amazing writer who captivates me in every book of his.
He was born and raised in Nebraska. Then moved to LA, for his dad's job.
He gets many of the ideas about his book from his family life. He is good with writing books about death because he has expirenced it; his mother died at the age of 47, when he was younger. He has written many "Best seller" books, and is widely known around the world for his romantic books.

Literary Element

Article posted May 23, 2010 at 02:49 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 30

One literary element is imagery. For example, "As Jonah first approached the deck, he saw the whisping waves crashing against the dampy sand in the back yard. He looked over and saw the peer. Then he shouted,
"DAD! YOU LIVE ON THE BEACH?!"

Another is a smilie. "Ronnie was falling in love. Their love was like an elderly couple sitting on the park bench together; they were always fighting but still shared more love then many people could ever find.

Theme: "Starting the new relation ships, and fixing the old ones."
Ronnie started to get closer to Will over the summer, they were unseperable. Also, Ronnie began wanting to spend time with her dad. She forgave him for living.

"Ronnie invited Will over for supper with her family. Normally, she would never even think of sharing her family with another person, but Ronnie was finally getting along with her dad."

Character Analysis

Article posted May 19, 2010 at 12:55 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 23

Will Blakelee

The obvious choice for this would most likely be Ronnie but to me, Will is the better choice.
Will is an 18 year rich beach boy who has always lived in the same place. Will is a blue-eyed, bulkey, blond haired, tan heart throb. All the girls in the area are fighting for him. At first though, Ronnie seemed less then not interested in him, so that is what triggered his feelings for her.
Most of the people around there are all stuck-up and only stick to their cliques. Not Will. Will always tried to make the world a better place by doing the right thing. His feelings for Ronnie were unconditional, even after his mother, and best friends told him he was wrong.
Ronnie saw Will for what he truly was underneath all of the stereotypes he was placed in. She saw him as a loving, fun-willed, and caring person who would always come around to do the right thing.
Nicholas Sparks (Author) explains Will to be a handsome young man who will grow up and be a good, honest, and loving man.

Plot Summary

Article posted May 11, 2010 at 06:27 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 18

"The Last Song" is a book about a teenage girl named Ronnie. Ronnie is a rebellious, ex-musician, "city girl" from New York. Her mother is forcing her to move down and live with her father who lives on Wrightsville Beach, in North Carolina. Ronnie hasn't spoken to her father in three years. Since he left her mom, her younger brother Jonah and herself. Ronnie quit playing piano after her dad left.
At first Ronnie gave her dad a hard time. She was never around and always found someone that she shouldn't of been hanging out with. Then Ronnie met Will. Will was a "pretty beach boy", that all the girls went after. Ronnie showed no interest in him, which made Will want her even more. Ronnie slowly found herself falling in love with him, after spending the whole summer together.
The end of summer was approching and Will and Ronnie were begining to think about what was next for them; Will would be attending Vanderbuilt College and Ronnie would be going back to New York. They came to the conclusion of staying together. Things began to change when Ronnie found out that her dad (whom she became very close with over the summer, has cancer. Ronnie was devestated and devoted ALL of her time helping her dad. Ronnie had started to play piano again which was all that her father wanted. She didn't see much of Will, since he was at college.
Ronnie decided to live with her dad, instead of going back to New York. After a few months, Ronnie's dad died. On the night of his death, Ronnie finished the song that her dad was in the process of composing. It was the last song he played. Will decided that he needed Ronnie so he left Vanderbuilt and went to New York to live with Ronnie.

What I Like to Read

Article posted May 4, 2010 at 06:28 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 57

I can read just about any type of book. However, mystery, romance, horror, suspenceful, and realistic fiction books hold my interest the most. I like mystery because they are "fast readers" and keep me on egde to where I never want to put the book down. Romance is good because it makes me feel happy. Horror and suspenceful books make me wonder what will happen next. The drama of not knowing what will happen next excites me. I can relate my life to the characters in realistic fiction books. I like being to see what others do in some of the same situations that I have been in.
