 Amazing Animal Report: Agouti Name of animal: Agouti The name of the animal’s rainforest layer: Forest Floor Food: They eat fruits, leaves, roots, nuts, sugarcane and seeds. Enemies: Their enemies are jaguars, ocelots, harpy eagles, large snakes and humans (which eat them). How it survives: They freeze instantly when they sense danger and they hide in trees. Also, they can’t climb but can burrow into the ground. Other interesting facts: Agoutis are about 46cm long and weigh about 3kg. They are fast runners and good swimmers. They are attracted to the sound of dropping fruit. Also they are one of the only animals that can open brazil nuts.
