Antarctica Flag

This is my Antarctic flag. It has a pole on the left because that's where the south pole is.

On the right is a reaserch station because there are so many of them in Antarctica.

My love for you extends further than a nebula of a blue star.

Whenever I'm around you I feel like I'm in a low pressure system compared to the high pressures of a normal day.

Our spectrum of love extends further than the eye can see.

When you're around it seems like the upper stratosphere clears.

We are doing an unit on the eye! here are some of the things I learned:

  1. The Cornea is in three layers,

  2. It is an organ and part of our brain.

  3. Oil comes out of our lower eyelid.

Space Accommodation

Article posted November 15, 2010 at 03:14 AM GMT • comment • Reads 976

I write this blog entry because I want to share what I know about what its like to live in space.

The living quarters in space include four bunk beds, but if that isn't enough people can also sleep in the cockpit. Although sleeping in the cockpit can be hard because the sun rises every ninety minutes. On the ISS (International Space Station) Anyone can sleep anywhere along as they're tied down. On the shuttle, there is wake up music, on the ISS there is not.

When going to the ISS, astronauts can choose to wear a Russian space suit or an American space suit. There is also the option to get thick or thin Russian Caravals.

The Hygiene in space is the same as on earth, just using different methods because of zerogravity. Did you know that toothpaste containers are the product of the "Space Race".

Eating in space is close to the same as eating on earth. There is a refrigerator, just no oven. Also condaments are provided, but the salt and peper are in liquid form so they don't get in vents.

Working in space has gotten a lot easer because of the ISS. Some sientific discoverys in space have led to a beter insight on earth. Did you know that the Hubble Space Telescope was the most famous satellite launched?

Spacing Out!

Article posted November 3, 2010 at 03:25 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1102

Mr. Gianforte's presentation about other worlds was very interesting! I was very happy when he told us about Astronomy Magazine because I may subscribe. I also enjoyed the fact that he "mixed it up" this year with topics, because for the last two years the topic has been star size compairison. I enjoyed the part about how we discover new planets. I hope we discover some life inhabiting planets close to us soon! I also learned that the Earth and other planets tug on the Sun, that was very interesting. I greatly look forward to next year's presentation!

Math Letter

Article posted November 2, 2010 at 06:56 PM GMT • comment • Reads 938

Dear Mom and Dad,

Module one was a lot of fun! We learned about probability, algebra, the order of operations, exponents, and patterns.

I liked the patterns unit because I like figuring out complicated math formulas. It requires a knowledge of algebra so I was exited! I love patterns and figuring out life sized problems.

I also liked the algebra unit because I like using complex equations, and when I do algebra I feel like I’m one of those people on TV with the long equations written on chalkboards. It actually is fun to do algebra because it challenges my logic ability. I somehow always seem to do algebra the complicated way.

The exponent unit was very easy! All it is, is multiplying it by itself the number of times it says in the small number next to the bigger number. Did you know that one to any power is one? Same with zero, zero to any power is one as well.

I didn't like the probability unit because I felt it too repetitive. Well I do like probability I just felt that the unit just went on about spinners and dice and coin flips.

We were supposed to do the Stock Market Simulation this module but it was postponed until early November. Here's an example of something we did this module, try to figure this out!
1 2 3 4 5
8 16 24 32 40.
