Mr. Gianforte's Visit

Article posted November 2, 2010 at 07:08 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1034

We had Mr, Gianforte come to our school to talk about astronomy. He was very interesting, I learned many things. First he talked about how he loves astronomy and has a telescope in his backyard and sometimes tracks the light patterns from other planets crossing the Sun. Mr. Gianforte also explained what an exoplanet was. A exoplanet is a planet that is not in our solar system. It also doesn’t orbit our star, the sun, it orbits a different star instead. Also I learned that some stars have their own planets. Mr, Gianforte gave us an amazing assembly and I hope to have him back next year for more!

rock cycle

The Rock Cycle

I am magma under ground wow it so hot down here. Boom! I am shooting out of my home and then starting to crystallize. Days pass and I now become an instructive igneous rock. I wonder how my sister is doing.
Wow it has been days after I was shot out of the volcano my brother who now should be an instructive igneous rock he is probably worried. I was shot down a different path. After I was out of the volcano I went into consolidation. After that process I then became an extrusive igneous rock. Years now have passed and I began to go into a melting stage now I am metamorphic rock. I and my brother’s cycles are now done.
UP UP I go! I am going into a stage called lithification. I soon will turn into a sedimentary rock. I can’t wait till I am to! But I have to go through deposition and transportation. So as said I do, then through weathering. AKA I hate the cold. Here I go through uplift and exposure wow that’s not fun. Now finally through all that madness I am now a sedimentary rock. OOOOH YA!
Ouch! I hate it down here it is like every where I move I get burned darn magma. Whoosh! AHHHHHHH what is happening. Ok now I really don’t like this who goes through crystallization, oh ya me! Hey why exactly am I turning in to an intrusive igneous rock someone help me! Years have passed now and I am sort of glad I am out of that volcano. Now I am a weird nonfloiated metamorphic rock. I barley can say my own name “wow”. Time for bed wait a second why do I feel a melting feeling oh man. Now I am a floiated metamorphic rock. I wonder if I should buy a pool and I can relax. Finally some peace and quiet.
Wow what stubborn rocks. Well I think this just raps up about every thing. I think that these cycles are so amazing; I have never realized how interesting these cycles can be. I wonder if scientists some day can get this on camera. That would be awesome! You have just experienced the life of a metamorphic, igneous, and sedimentary rock. Some nice rocks and some bad but never amazing!

the reasons for the seasons

Article posted April 1, 2010 at 11:42 PM GMT • comment • Reads 275

the reasons for the seasons! So how do we have seasons? Well lets find out. The sun shines over the equator, the tropic of capercorn and the tropic of cancer. When the sun shines over the equator it becomes fall in the northern hemishere and spring in the southern. Another term for fall is autumal stage. Then when the sun shines over the tropic if capercorn it becomes summer in the southern and winter in the northern hemishere. Heres when the equlnox comes in. A equlnox is a period of time for 12 hours day and night. i am guessing you have seen it i know i have. So just keep an eye out for the things around you.

Language Arts: In language Arts we are writting floktales of any theme. They have to be placed in africa though. My story is about the giraffe. The story is a myth that explains why the giraffe is so tall. Social Studies: In my social studies class we are studing a african country. We are pretending that we are going to a hotel and doing daily expenses. It is a fun and livly project i love doing it. Science: In science class we had just finished our african animal project. We picked a african animal out of a hat and did a project on that animal. We had to take note facts to gather information and make a colorful and neat mini poster of it. math: In math class we are doing a african patterns related to reflection, translation and rotation. We would have to show those transformations on our patterns. art: in art we are make african clay whistels. We are using clay to make a whistle then painting our patterns fom math class on them. technology edication: in our technology class we are making a finger piano (m'bira).A finger piano is a little instrument that plays music. We got to also make up a african desigin and carve it into the finger piano. music: In music class we are also pretending we are going on a trip to africa. We are learning about the diffrent music and intaments they paly there. This is a also very fun project.
