Antarctic Flag

Article posted June 14, 2011 at 04:13 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1327

Unfortunately I could not find my flag so I’ll have to describe what it looked like. It was a blue background with a small circle. Inside the circle there was a penguin, and above it, there were three banners translating to “the Earths Last Frontier”.

Living In Space

Article posted November 12, 2010 at 12:31 AM GMT • comment • Reads 1046

Ever wondered what it's like living in space? Well, first off, lets talk about getting into space.
When the shuttle blasts off, the astronauts feel about 3Gs of force. No, not grams, 1G is an object's weight. So now that you know that, you can understand that the astronauts feel their own weight three time more this is why they are specially trained to handle this force.

Because there is no gravity, they can only eat certain foods. They can't have bread, because it crumbles, and could get in their eyes, or the machines. They used to have food in little tooth paste like containers. Due to complaint, they have given the astronauts food in a normal forms

sleeping is a bit different in space, than on Earth. the first reason being the total lack of gravity, causing you to be able to doze off in any sleeping position. they also need to be strapped down, so they don’t float away in their sleep.

Just like being on Earth, they need to stay clean too,so NASA created a waterless shampoo. it needs to be waterless, because if they had water, it would float everywhere. this could cause a serious malfunction.

Well, maybe now you have an idea on what life is like in space. I hope this info was useful!

Chapter 1
THE EGG & THE DRAGON

It was summer on the coast of New Hampshire, and my sister Sabrina was looking for, well anything, and boy, does find something.
“Darius! Darius!” she yelled.
“What? What?” I said. I was playing on the wooden set, of play things like a swing, but I just climb all over it.
We are like any other siblings. Fighting pointless fights, that’s her game. But hey, who cares, back to the story!

“I found something... like some sort of an egg!” she replied. “Nice! Hey wait a sec! How could an egg be on the ground, but NOT broken?” I replied.
“I don’t know!”
I ran over to see if she was lying. She wasn’t! It was a full egg, but it was long and blue.
“What The heck is that? It can’t be an egg!” I said.
“I told you, I don’t know!” she yelled
“Well… I think we need to keep this a secret.”
“But” she said “keep it a secret! We could get way too much attention like news and press attacks!” I said.
“Now now, is that too bad?”
I glared.
“Sabrina!”
“Ok ok! Sheesh”
“Let me get my camera.” I said.
“Why?”
“To get a-” I was interrupted.
“A video of me with me next to a mysterious egg? Awesome!” she said
“No! To get a picture!” I spoke with clenched teeth.
“Fine.” My cell phone was charging but, I thought it might be charged enough. I ran back.
“Watcha doing?” said my big sister.
“Looking for bugs.” I said. “Catch any thing?”
“Well… actually… um… we found this bug egg nest, its cool, but it’s normal.” Then she replied, “Okay keep on looking, and let me know if you find something good!”
“Okay we will.”

That night I was staring at the egg for a while, I looked in an egg book and still nothing. “What the?” suddenly, the egg shook, I backed away fast! I saw a crack.
“Whoa!” A baby dragon! I was amazed to see that they were alive! I’ve always know that they existed I just though that I’d never see one, but I did! It was a land dragon. It crawled around on my bed. It looked kind of cute, but can be dangerous with its pointed tail and claws. It ate meat. We had some crab meat in the fridge. I tried hard to sneak some strips of meat. He was full after its first meal.

“Well, I hatched it… kind of, might as well name it. I’ll name it… umm… Jerry? Wait no. Aha I got it! You can be Kavoo!” He smiled, and from that I just knew he liked it.
I wrapped him up in a small blanket, and we went to bed. The next morning I had to sneak him into my bureau and I gave him some crab meat. It was tricky to get in the fridge, because it makes noticeable noise when it’s opened. “What are you doing?” Asked my Dad.
“Getting a snack for school.”
“What are you getting??”
“A… uhmm a fresh orange!” to avoid suspicion, I grabbed an orange while I was there.

“Bye Kavoo!” I wasn’t so sure if that was the smartest thing to do, leaving him in my drawer, but I might as well try. And this is what happened after I left.
“Squawk?” it had less of a parrot tone, and more… different. He got pretty curious in the drawer, and he didn’t like the darkness surrounding him. Before you knew it, Kavoo was banging the drawer open, and hopped out! He landed belly first. He slithered & hopped up the stairs and the door was open.
“Darius? What are you squawking about?” it was my great grandmother, who we call Bummy.
“Umm, just random noises. You know me.”
“Yeah, ok, you can stop”, she said, I had to get Kavoo somewhere safe.
“Hold on. I need to get something from downstairs.”
“like what?”
“I left my computer on!”
“Okay, be quick!”

(to be continued . . .)

Chapter 2
THE WAY OF THE DRAGON KEEPER

I lay in the bed, with Kavoo at my side .I think, how did this happen? Is this real? This is a new experience. Big time.
“Why are you… here? I mean like, how did you get… here? How did I end up with you? You’re just, I don’t know, different! I’ve never seen anything like you before.” Kavoo looked at me and glared in a kind of, ”well no duh, Captain Obvious.” Way.
“Oh well you know what I mean! And anyway, how did you end up in my backyard.” Kavoo hopped down, and scratched in a piece of cardboard with his razor sharp tail. It appeared to be two dragons battling.
“War?” Kavoo nodded.
“But how did you end up in my back yard?” I said not realizing he was still carving. He carved what looked like, a dragon hiding an egg.
“They hid the eggs from enemies?”
“But how do you know all this?” he carved a tree and carved dragons of different generations.
“Knowledge by blood?” once again, he nodded.
“Well that answers that.”
All this, dragon stuff, is really complicated. Kavoo taught me a lot about the Dragon culture. It turns out they have their own manuscript. It amazing how all this info can be passed through generations and through blood.

The fact of how he could grow to be 20 feet tall hits me. I bolt upright. “oh no!!!”
