Beautiful People & Humanism

CONSTRUCTION THEORY- Humanism

A humanist would celebrate the song “Beautiful People” by Melanie Safka.

One reason they would celebrate this text is because the song implies that people should be nice to each other, even if they are strangers.  It does this by saying that people who see each other every day on the subway should say hello to one another rather than ignore each other like they always do.  Saying hello rather ignoring someone would be considered an act of kindness by a humanist.

Another reason they would celebrate this song is because the song states that people should take care of each other, which a humanist would consider being good. “If you take care of me then I’ll take care of you.”  This quote states openly the signer’s opinion about how people should care for each other.

In conclusion, A humanist would celebrate the song “Beautiful People” by Melanie Safka.
