Mokoia Intermediate visit.

Article posted August 10, 2010 at 03:50 PM GMT+11 • comment (5) • Reads 1450

Today all of the Year 6 classes from Lynmore went for a whole morning prospective visit to Mokoia Intermediate. We were warmly greeted by the Principal, Mrs Epp, and the two Deputy Principals, Mrs Little and Mrs Hyde. Mrs Hyde used to teach at Lynmore, so most of the children already knew her friendly face! The children were split into groups and got to participate in a whole variety of lessons and activities that they will have as options if they choose to go there in 2011 as Year 7 students! Here are some photos from the morning.

Playing with blocks - how is that Maths?!

Article posted August 4, 2010 at 12:24 PM GMT+11 • comment (1) • Reads 1166

WALT make objects given their plan, front and side views.

This-morning we had a creative session during Maths. I gave the children a pink sheet of paper with two 3D models drawn on it. Each model gave them the front and back view of a building. They had to look carefully at the plans, so they could create their own 'real life' version using the maths multi-link cubes. Once they had completed both of the models, they created their own 3D shape and got their partner to copy it exactly.

How do you think the children did? Have they created the 3D objects carefully and accurately? Write them a comment

It's Buddy time again!

Article posted July 31, 2010 at 12:50 PM GMT+11 • comment (2) • Reads 773

Today Room 3 children had a great time with their buddies. Mrs Stewart and I gave them the task of designing a new school uniform for the year 2050. The children had to be extremely creative, because we gave them only a few pieces of equipment they could use; 2x newspapers and 1m of sellotape..! They did brilliantly! The pictures speak for themselves. Enjoy!

About the Blogger
Well, I'm in my 7th(!) year of teaching now. I have taught in the Bay of Plenty, as well as a number of fantastic schools in England. A new year at Lynmore Primary School (Rotorua, New Zealand) has seen me change into a Year 3 class this year.
