Earthquake

Article posted September 20, 2010 at 01:27 AM GMT • comment (1) • Reads 420

On Saturday at 4:30 am in the morning there was an earthquake in Christchurch. It was 7.1 high. But no one died and more than 100 000 buildings are damaged. More than 100 aftershocks.
A boy fell out of the house and lots of bricks fell on him. He got rushed to hospital and he was lucky. He had not broken any bones.
One building went on fire because they tried to put the power back on. The university students helped to get the wet sand away.
There was also a plane crash it landed in the paddock right on a fence. And one building went on fire because they tried to put the power back on.

Horse Story

Article posted September 6, 2010 at 03:20 AM GMT • comment • Reads 359

Once upon a time there was a boy named Josh. His favourite animal is a horse. So his Mum bought two horses for Josh. Every day he had to feed the two horses.
But one day he forgot to shut the gate. In the morning Josh was going to feed the two horses and they were not there.
So he said,
“Oh no, what should I do? If Mum sees this I am going to be in trouble. So I’d better be looking for the two horses. Oh no, Mum is coming. I’d better look behind the hill.”
There were the two horses. So he was not going to be in trouble and they lived happily ever after.

New Zealand

Article posted August 24, 2010 at 12:06 AM GMT • comment • Reads 325

New Zealand is a small island country in the south Pacific Ocean.
Lake Taupo is the volcano and it is a lake too. The Waikato River is the longest river.
Dairy farmers buy cows to make milk products like butter, cheese and things like that. Meat farms kill beefies for meat. Sheep farms shave sheep for wool and sell it and they make clothes and people buy clothes to stay warm.
Rugby is a sport that you have to tackle and in tackle you get hurt.
Did you know we have lots of native birds in New Zealand? Did you know the kiwi and kakapo can’t fly? But they didn’t have to because there were not rats and pests. But now there are rats.
The capital city is Wellington. The biggest city is Auckland, one million people.
Although New Zealand is a small country it has a lot of variety with its plants, birds, landscape and people.

MAUNGATAUTARI

Article posted April 23, 2010 at 01:39 AM GMT • comment (1) • Reads 620

We saw some birds at a mountain called Maungatautari. When we got into the trap door I felt trapped. One door could only open at a time. So then the other door wouldn’t open. Finally the door opened.
So we walked to the kaka feeding. The kaka stepped on a concrete step to see if there was food in. But no there isn’t. When we looked in the camera we saw some eggs and some chicks in the camera. But the man who feeds the birds wasn’t there yet so we went to look for R and S.
