New Zealand

Article posted August 2, 2010 at 11:47 PM GMT • comment • Reads 767

New Zealand is a small island country in the south Pacific Ocean. We are made up of two islands, the South Island and the North Island. At Lake Taupo there was a volcano. When it last erupted there was a deep ditch in the volcano and it filled with water.
Mount Cook is 3764 metres tall.
We have dairy farming, meat and wool.
All Whites is our soccer team and All Blacks is our rugby team.
We have no native mammals except for bats. Native birds may not fly. Kiwis live in New Zealand but they only come out at night.
Four million people live in New Zealand. The biggest city or town is Auckland. Most people live in towns or cities.
Although New Zealand is a small country it has lots of variety with its plants, birds, land and people.

The egg

Article posted August 2, 2010 at 11:31 PM GMT • comment • Reads 451

Once upon a time there lived a Mum chicken, a Dad chicken and two eggs. They lived in a tree trunk.
One day one of the eggs rolled away down the hill into the lake. The Mum chicken ran down the hill after the egg. Then the chicken stopped because she couldn’t swim. Then she asked a fish if the fish can get the egg. She counted to three - one ...2...3...fish. The fish got the egg up. The chicken pushed it home to the Dad chicken.
Crack, crack, the eggs are hatching. They lived happily ever after.

Maungatautari

We went through a thick forest. There were vines everywhere. It was amazing. We had to check our bags for mice. There was a fence. It had a slippery slope. On top it had an alarm and an electric wire so mice or a cat can’t get in. We went into it. There was a gate that could let us in. You had to push a button. It will let you in. You can’t open two doors at the same time. Then we stopped at birds. Its name was kaka. Then it climbed up a vine. We had to look out for pink ribbons because they told us the direction. We had to look for black boxes. They have a white cardboard and blob of ink. The mice will walk on the ink then it will make footprints. Then we upset a wasp nest. Seven people got stung. I thought it would be painful.
