Maungatautari On Tuesday 9th March Room 5 went with Mrs Collins to collect the tunnels from Maungatautari. When we got there we went to the tower. There were 91 steps. It was very interesting. To get inside Maungatautari you need to walk through a cage. The cage has little holes that are called mesh. The mesh stops little pests like mice from getting in. We pressed a button to get into Maungatautari. When we got through the cage we saw lots of birds. The fantail kept following us because we were making the insects jump and the fantails swooped down. Then we went to the Kaka feeding. The Kaka stood on a platform and the feeding container opened. We went for the bush walk. I was the leader. When we got the first tunnel we were going back out but on the way back some of us got stung by bees. My Mum got stung the most. She got stung seven times. Me and Mum went back to school.
