Blue, a color poem

Article posted March 31, 2010 at 10:06 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 206

Blue is like fresh blueberry

Blue is the color of the sea

Blue is the color of the sky

Blue is like a bubble high up in the sky

Blue smells like mint gum

Blue tastes like blue-raspberry jellybeans

Blue sounds like waves crashing against land

Blue looks like smooth, flat ice

Blue feels spongy

Blue is the color of a robin's egg

Science Fair

Yesterday was the Science Fair. I did my science fair project on monkeys, I learned that the smallest monkey is a Pygmy Marmoset and the biggest monkey is a Mandrill. From other people's science fair projects I learned that goats have a slit shape for a pupil and that octopi have beaks and their beaks are made out of the same stuff as our fingernails. I also learned that hyperthyroidism is when all the parts of their body speeds up and it usually happens to older cats.

The Tail of Emily Windsap

The Tail of Emily Windsnap

I loved this book because it has a happy ending. The thing I really enjoyed about this book was the underwater world. In my mind it’s amazingly beautiful. “A ceiling of amber a pavement of pearl.”

One reason I didn’t like this book was because they told Emily’s secret in the prologue, personally I would have liked them to wait until it was an actual part of the story. So if you’re a person who likes to figure stuff out during the book then this isn’t the book for you.

Liz Kessler (the author) grew up in Southport, northwest of England. She has one brother and one sister and was born in 1966.

This a fabulous book at times it made me jumpy and at other times it made me sad and happy.

Snooter-Doots

Article posted January 21, 2010 at 07:52 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 345

Last November my sisters and I got Snooter-Doots! They are made and sold by a lady who got the inspiration from her daughter's story of Bubba squirrel, Popitiy the squirrel, and the Snooter-Doots. It really hard to beleive how many she makes. There were really cool hats with big boggly eyes! http://www.snooter-doots.com/

Chasing Vermeer

This week I am reading Chasing Vermeer by Blue Balliett. So far so good! For how far I’ve gotten, there isn’t much to tell. Three kids get letters from a mysterious person asking them to help solve a century’s old mystery. Will they accept?

The Lightning Thief

Article posted January 8, 2010 at 08:08 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 1210

This week I am reading the Lightning Thief! One of the words I came across was "squalls" it means a sudden gust of violent wind. "One of the current events we studied in social studies class was the unusual number of small planes that had gone down in sudden squalls that year.

The Lightning Thief was recommended to me and I recommend it to you!

Geocaching

Last weekend my Mom, sister and I went geocaching with friends for the first time. It was like a huge worldwide scavenger hunt (by the way it is worldwide and there are 969,116 geocaches in the whole world) We found 5/6 of the geocaches we looked for so we did pretty good. If you are interested in geocaching check out the official website. www.geocaching.com/
