If I Was Principal for a Week

By CS

If I was principal for a school week I would do all sorts of stuff, like on Monday I would design really cool desks for all of the kids, and I’ll make them bigger!

On Tuesday I would paint the school a lot of different neon colors, just so everyone could see it!

On Wednesday, when it’s hot I’ll turn the whole field into a humongous pool. And when it’s cold out I would turn that pool into a giant ice skating rink!

On Thursday I would turn the stage into a giant Richards Got Talent, so that all of the kids who want to can show off their talents in front or the whole school!

On Friday the whole school can have a giant sleepover in the entire school!

But wait until next week

Top Ten Facts You Should Know About Wisconsin

By CS

Wisconsin has a lot of different facts, but I’m going to tell you ten, not just ten the top ten!

For starters there are three different branches, there’s Judicial, Executive, and the Legislative Branch. The Judicial Branch can make laws, but the laws have to go through the Executive Branch and then the Legislative Branch to discuss.

Wisconsin is the best producer for cheese and ginseng (tea).

Powwow is an Indian celebration that celebrates birth and weddings by dancing and eating.

The toilet water used to be drinking water which spread a nasty disease that killed many people.

In 1920 jazz music was invented which made people happy when they danced to it.

The Judicial, Executive, and the Legislative branch all work together.

John Nicolet made a water route from Wisconsin to China.

After the civil war Abraham Lincon was shot.

Abraham was against slavery.

And last but not least, cheese and milk are Wisconsin’s most popular dairy products.

Fall vs. Summer

All seasons are great, but they are also different. My favorite season is fall, because it’s not too hot and not too cold, so to me it’s just right! My other reason is that the trees are so beautiful with the orange, red, green, and yellow colors. I think fall is a wonderful season!

My least favorite season is summer, because of all the bees, and I think it sometimes gets too hot, dry, and sticky. One good thing about it is that summer is when there is no school. To me I think fall is better than summer!

Day with a Friend

Day with a Friend
By CS

One hot summer day my friend and I were playing outside. First we were running around like crazy and screaming like crazy playing tag!

Then we turned the sprinkler on and it sprayed in the mud, which turned the mud into a huge mud puddle! That means we got to put our rain boots on and splash around in it. Even though it got in my shoes a lot it was still awesome!

After doing all of that we had some pink lemonade and popsicles to cool us down. I thought that the popsicles were better than the pink lemonade!

All of the sudden my dog ran straight out of the house right after she just got bathed, and she got all of her wet paws all over my friends shirt! Yep she was a “wet doggy” alright!

That was a really fun and active day I sure hope to do it again!

One Wish

I have a lot of wishes, but there’s just one important one that I would like to share with you! I wish that I could fly, because I love heights, but I don’t want wings. Even during recess I could just count three and just blast off. It would be fun for everyone else too, because if they want I could give them rides on my back or something like that! I really do think that it would be absolutely amazing! That’s the one wish that I really, really want!

Do you watch the Summer Olympics and the Winter Olympics? This year the 2010 Winter Olympics is on February 12 to February 28. This year the country that the Olympics takes place in Vancouver, Canada, were 80 countries are going to compete at the BC Place Stadium. There’s going to be Figure Skating, Speed Skating, Ski Jumping, Curling, Ice Hockey, Bobsled, Alpine Skiing, and more different kinds of winter sports!

If you do watch the Olympics then you’ve probably heard of Lindsey Vonn’s injury on Dec.28 2009 when she hurt her arm, but can she compete in the 2010 Olympics, Sasha Cohen’s calf injury, and Erin Hamlin who competes in the luge.

I wish that I could become famous by competing in a winter sport! It would be so cool!

A Random Act of Kindness To a Friend

Have you ever just had a normal day at recess then a random act of kindness just pops up, and you just have to help someone who’s hurt or getting bullied? Well I have. It was a normal day at recess then I heard someone crying and turned around. It was a new girl who was sat there crying! I went over to her and said “are you ok”? “Yes, but my knee is bleeding” she replied. I went to tell the teacher what happened. The teacher outside said that I should take her to the clinic for a bandage for her knee. I helped her up to walk there. She said her knee hurt when she walked up the stairs, so I held her hand! When we came back down she said thank you and gave me a big hug! I became best friends with her by doing a tiny favor for her, and it felt great!

My Hotel in Miami
By CS

Have you ever been to Miami? If you haven’t, then you’d probably want to listen to this. If you have been to Miami before then you’d still probably want to listen. My hotel was so cool! It had two pools. One was 4 feet deep, and the other was 10 feet deep.

Behind one of the pools there was a Human Chess Board! Next to that there was a Mini Golf Course, Shuffle Board, and some Tennis Courts. I liked the Mini Golf because it went around in a figure eight.

Also, the Hotel had its own private beach! The sand was always warm on the bottom of my feet, and there were a lot of seashells that I collected.

I’m definitely going back to Miami again!

Snow
By CS

Have you ever seen snow before? Well if you haven’t I think you’ll like to know. Sometimes the snow light or heavy. It could also be fluffy like powder or sparkly like crystals. You can build a snow fort or even have a snowball fight. They’re really fun! The color is usually white. The feeling of the snow is cold, unless you’re wearing gloves.

Christmas in the UK

Article posted January 6, 2010 at 09:04 PM GMT-6 • comment (11) • Reads 398

Christmas In the UK!

It all started on Dec.17,2009 when my mum and I flew from Chicago airport to Dublin airport(Ireland). When we got to the airport we took a taxi to the Crown Plaza hotel. After we threw our bags in the room we went to go take a bus downtown. We went to a lot of different stores. We also took an open Double Decker bus tour. The next morning we took another tour and went shopping for clothes and did some sight seeing. We went to a really old church that had a mummified cat and rat in it (cool huh)?

Later on we went back to the airport and then flew to Manchester airport in England (that’s the closest to my nana & grandad’s house). My nana & grandad picked us up in their motor home, it was awesome!! On the way back to my nana’s house we stopped at my cousins house. I was so excited to see my cousin. The next day was my birthday party . We went to a pantomime (it’s a live theater show usually on fairytales, but very funny) for half of it and went to Frank and Benny’s (a restaurant). At the end of the panto the main character got my cousin and myself onstage to sing a song in front of the whole audience, it was very funny and everyone applauded.

The next day I had another little tea party on my real birthday, I got lots of presents and all my cousins, aunties and uncles came.

After my birthday, I hung out with my cousins a lot and on Christmas Eve we all went to a pub and played. In England the play areas for kids are in the pubs, which my mum really likes too!! (she told me to say that)!
On Christmas morning I woke to find tons of presents under the tree, some for my mum, some for nana and some for grandad, but a lot of them were for me! One of the most fun presents I got was a pair of carpet sliders (these are things you put over your shoes and slide on the carpet, like skates) super fun!

One of our family traditions on Christmas day is to have a giant Christmas cracker (a cracker looks like a tootsie roll wrapper about the size of a dinner plate and you pull it with someone and it makes a ‘pop’ noise when it is pulled and inside you get a toy, a paper crown and a joke in it). Well my family make a GIANT cracker every year, its about 4’ long and they fill it with more toys to open… its so much fun!!

Later that day family came and we had a huge turkey dinner and lots of desserts including ‘Christmas pudding’ which I don’t eat because it has fruit and raisins in it and its gross!

The next day, is what is known as Boxing Day, basically another Christmas Day, but without the presents, although my nana always has table gifts at the dinner table for everyone. On Boxing Day we had 16 family members for dinner, now that’s a lot of food!!

After all the festivities, I hung out with my cousins more and had lots of sleepovers and went shopping with them. Time then flew by and it then was time to leave again. On the way to the airport my cousin and myself slept in the bed at the back of the motor home because we had to leave at 4am for the airport.

At the airport there were a lot of security checks and because we flew from Manchester to Dublin then Dublin to London and then London to Chicago, it was very tiring. The security people even patted me down and went through my bags!!

The whole travel time to get home from waking up took 26hrs!! As you can imagine, I was very tired when I got home. Once home, I found MORE presents under the tree and so I went to bed knowing my Christmas was now going to start again!! I’m so lucky!

Getting My Dog At Puppy World

By CS

Last year in spring my mom and I were going to drive to the store. While we were driving I said, "Mom lets go to Puppy World across the street insted"! So we drove across the street to Puppy World. I looked at all of the cute little dogs there, and I saw this little black and white dog. It was a Schnoodle! That maens she is a half Schnouzer and half poodle.

It was a girl. I loved her so I picked her out. I had to go to a sleep over that night so we would have to put her on hold.We came back the next morning at 11:00 or 12:00. We went to go get her. She was all groomed with a little bow in her hair! The woman at the counter asked me, "What do you want to name her?" I had to think about that for a while. "Coco" I yelled. "I want to name her Coco". So I did!

At the back of the shop there was the cutest little clothes for dogs. I asked my mom if I could get some for Coco. But she said "no" because she already spent too much money on Coco. When we took Coco to the car she started to shiver. I thought that she was so cute when she did that. But my mom didn't! Anyways, when we got home Coco just sat there,She sat there as still as a rock.

In the morning Coco was still sat there very still. After lunch she started started to be really playful. Maybe because she could smell the food! I think it's so fun when you get to play with her.

I think a Schnoodle is such a good pet because they don't shed. Awesome, right! My mom definately thinks so!

My puppy is very playful because she's a little older and used to living in my house.

If you want to know more about good and funny pets! Get the next book! To be continued...

What I’m Really Good At?
By: CMS

There are a lot of things I’m really good at. But these are my favorite!
Writing art, and geography. I think I’m good at writing because my mom
say I have a really good imagination.

I’m good at art because I’m very creative at drawing stuff. Other than creative I’m also very proper because I like to decorate my own Christmas house!

I think I’m good at geography because I love to learn about all the countries, states, and cities. I think it’s really interesting!
