Friends Are True

Article posted June 3, 2010 at 01:16 PM GMT-6 • comment • Reads 1387

By GK

Friends are always true
When someone feels so blue,
They help each other,
One another,
So they can feel good
And so they would
Give them some friendship after they felt better.
So just get her
One of your special great big hugs,
So just don’t treat your friends like bugs,
Because after all friends are true to one another.
So just be kind to each other!

Animals Go To School

I came across a tiger
On the way to school
His face was very fuzzy
And his back was very soft
I hid him in my locker
So that teacher would not see
He stayed there very quietly
Until frightened by a fly

Summer Vacation

This year for summer vacation my family is going to California and Canada. We are going to visit my relatives in California. They just moved into a bigger house and we have never seen it before. I am really excited! My cousins are really getting old, one is an 18-year-old, another is 14, and one other is 8 years old. Do you have any cousins over 18 years old? My aunt and cousins decided to move down the block from a brand new frozen yogurt shop!

We are going to Canada just to have lots of random fun! I am super excited because I have never been to Canada. Also we’re renting a cabin in Toronto, which is were one of the most popular teenage pop star lives! And I really love his music! I am also excited because I have never been it such a big place! I am almost exploding with excitement and inpatients!

Memorial Day

By GK and RD

Memorial day is a celebration to all respects of solders in the army or navy. Many grandparents are veterans, which means at one point they fought in the war or cured injured solders. So on this very special day we celebrate their bravery. Some people even die in war and maybe there family goes to there grave to put flowers or flags to show freedom. So you should thank them by making them a card or gift to show how much we appreciate them because we would never be here today if they didn’t fight or help out. So remember to make a card or gift.

If I Could Be Principal for One Week

Article posted May 27, 2010 at 01:05 PM GMT-6 • comment • Reads 338

By Eve

If I could be principal for one week here is what I would do. I would make shorter school days so kids could play outside after school ends. That way they would get lots of energy for the next exciting day. The school would also have art class every single day. Then after school, if kids want to they can sign up for an after school art class.

On the last day of the week I would let the children play fun games all day long. I think that would make a perfect day.

Also if any child thinks they are doing very bad in school I would teach them those things. They would also get easier tests and quizzes.

If they thought that they were too good at any subject in class they could have the option of moving up one grade. That would make both the children and I very happy. It would make teachers learn to love teaching more.

I would love to be principal for just one week.

What are you good at?
I am bad at bat.
But what do I succeed in most?
Definitely not to boast
I am best at art
It’s always my part!
Someone said, “Oh how great this is.” (It was made by me.)
I sat there with one sertine look on my face with glee.
I love that someone for their name
Mr. Art, doing was his game.

Now I hope you all know that I am great at art.
That’s the only important part.

Did you ever notice, that I am a little poet?
But no one really knows it.
I am showing you today
Like horses, not famous and stuck with hay.
But I am showing you my talents
But people say “Wouldn’t she want to be more gallant?”
Like tennis or art class
I disagree with them, there last.
Yes, I am a poet
No matter who knows it.

The Zoo

The zoo is a wonderful place! I think so because at some zoo’s they have very rare, endangered, or unordinary animals! It is really cool; at the zoo in my city they have an endangered animal called a “red” panda. The “red” panda looks kind of like a fox, except it’s much smaller, and has the face of a panda.

Birthdays are splendid, full of joy. But it’s not about the presents, it’s about lots more.

It is about being a brand new age, celebrating with friends and family. It is about appreciating others as they gift time and love to you.

Precious memories happen as that minute strikes, the day that you were born! Celebrate with love and memories.

Just be thankful for what you have, don’t complain.

The perfect day, think of a warm breeze running through my face, walking through the park. Chasing bugs and animals is what is best to me. When I feel I’ve had enough, I just run out and get some more. As the sun sets I feel brave, all mighty, and strong. As I fall asleep, I say “It’s great so quietly.” As I wake up they say “She really is great.”

Music Happens

All around our earth there is many different types of music that we might not know about. Like in Africa, you might hear gospel or reggae music. Or in America, you might hear heavy metal or country. If you’re in Germany you could hear classical music, like an orchestra. Were ever you are there is lots of different sorts of music.

Some music depends on the culture of the country or continent. Maybe you could play what you feel inside. Like if you felt depressed, you could write or sing a song that sounds sad. If you were happy you might sing a fast moving, but happy sounding song. Were ever you are, music happens!

Help the Animals

By GK

Have you ever heard of oil spills? Well, they can happen all around the world. Oil spills come unexpectedly, at no notice. It harms many animals because the oil hurts there skin and fur. Luckily there are many charities and fundraisers for them, so you can help. Oil spills often happen near the ocean, were factories from oil rigs “accidentally” spill oil from the rigs.

Animals like polar bears, penguins, ducks, and more are being hurt from the oil commonly. Some soap and dish soap factories help them also. They usually tell you on there commercials that when you purchase one of the soap products they make, they will donate money. That money goes to any places were they help the animals from the oil spills. Then they also donate some soap to gently clean off the oil from the skin or fur.

If I could only see you right now; you’re one of my nicest cousins. You’re the one I wish to see. You’re not just a cousin to me; you’re a friend, a very true friend. I just need to see you, one more time. If I could only see you today…

All of the things we did, I’ll never forget. They will always have a special place in my heart. Even when I’m older, I’ll try my best to keep it in. I know that we used to see each other ever single week. You still live really close. I don’t know what happened. We like the same things but we’re also different in all the god ways.

You probably don’t realize how much I miss you.

My Hometown

By GK

My hometown is Milwaukee, Wisconsin. My goal is to keep it there. I want to live in Milwaukee my whole life, I might go places every once in a while, but I will live here as long as I live!

I love Milwaukee because it has a pretty clean environment. Lake Michigan is also clean besides the seaweed. My favorite part about it is walking along the cold rock/deck with bare feet.

My parents think it’s too cold, but I like it! They think we should move to a warmer state, but I love being around all friends here! This is where I am going to stay, no matter what.

My parents think it’s too cold, I think it’s hot right now, and it’s not even spring yet! I love it here! Its perfect temperature all year around, also my dog and brother think so too. I like to get snow in winter and a little sun in fall, weeds in spring, and last warm days in the summer.

I absolutely love it here. Colorado is no different. That is were they (parents) want to live. I like it there but I love it way more here.

I like going to the dog park in the spring with my dog Simon and my brother, then going to the ice cream shop and getting a pineapple snow cones. I love hearing bids in the morning, especially woodpeckers.

I am going to stay here!

Getting a Dog

Article posted April 1, 2010 at 01:13 PM GMT-6 • comment • Reads 334

By GK

Getting a dog was the only dream I had for a while! One day when me, my brother, and my dad went to our grandma’s house to drop off some stuff. We heard and saw her three dogs as usual, but there was another one that looked very beautiful with such a colorful coat. I rushed inside to see whose dog it was. My grandma said “it’ll be a surprise?” I thought, well whose dog was it really? Grandma said the dogs name was Professor. I liked that name but I wished I could call him Simon. Simon (Professor) was very nice! He hopped off the coach and came to sniff me. Then before I knew it I was lying on the floor with a dog on me! He licked and licked me! I loved him. Then, it was sad news. We had to leave but my dad said we’ll see grandma early the next morning.

When grandma came to our house at 6 am, she stayed in her bright orange car. I wondered why she was. My dad just hung up with her on the phone, but before he did he said, “Yes. Bring him in” So grandma jumped out of the front seat. She went around the back of her car and she pulled out a leash. It was Simon! (Professor) I was super excited! Simon was here! Simon ran up to the front door and greeted me with another big sloppy lick. Simon! Grandma called, “It’s your new home!” Simon is ours? Yes said grandma. We should call mom at once, cried my brother.

That night I spent some time with Simon on the porch. “You really are a great dog aren’t you?” He just looked at me confused. I just looked at him, with love.

Summer Times

By GK

Have you ever had one of those “summer times” to remember? I’ve had many! Those “summer times” may be getting a puppy, learning to ride a bike, or maybe even swimming for the first time! But wait until you hear mine! One summer day I was walking my dog, he saw something and ran toward it! I ran to go catch him when I saw the thing I had thought he was trying to chase, a robotic squirrel! I couldn’t believe my eyes it looked SO real! That afternoon when I got back I only told my brother, I thought my parents wouldn’t believe me. But it turns out no one does! Not even my friends!

The next time I walked my dog I looked all over for that dumb robotic squirrel, it was nowhere in sight! It turned out it was all just a very realistic dream though. I was bummed about that! Well if you’re ever walking you see an unusual object don’t believe in it! Or maybe just go with your gut, I think that’s the best way anyone could think up of going.

When it’s Rainy Are You Bored?

By GK

When it’s rainy are you bored? I bet you are, but I am not! Are you surprised? Well I know a way that’s sure to get you up and going! So, one very day I was stuck in my room reading (The book was boring!) a book in my bed. Every few minutes I was frightened by a loud struck of thunder, and booming bright lighting flash. My heart was pounding so to get rid of my fear I tried to think of something fun to do. I thought of many, many things but nothing seemed that interesting. Finally I found out a fantastic game to play on a very rainy day! (But it requires three or more people.) I gathered up my brother, and my two neighbors, picked one person to control the lights, one to be the tagger, and the other two to avoid the tagger. Then the tagger says, “Turn off the lights!” and the lighting control person turns them off. Everyone craws the whole time while tagger is trying to tag you. But when the light control person turns on the lights, everyone playing has to freeze! This game is best played in a basement. It’s a really fun thing to do on a rainy day!

Recycle
By GK

Recycle, to heal the world! How? Simply composting and reusing. I started to do these things because I thought the earth might need help at this task. You can also help by planting trees and other plants, to give us humans more fresh oxygen. Do you know that we breathe in oxygen, but breathe out carbon dioxide? Carbon dioxide helps plants grow, not you and me. So plants give out oxygen, for us, and we give out carbon dioxide, for them. Now it makes more sense!

Have you ever heard of the song reduce, reuse, and recycle? Well that is a song I know the world likes. I think it encourages kids to do those three important rules. I bet if even one person helps, it could heal our dear earth. So just remember to reduce, reuse, and recycle.

My best advice that I took was to not eat too much sugar or candy. I took that advice from my parents; I constantly asked “Can I please have some more candy?” You guessed it; the answer was “No!” “Just eat one or none each day” they would say. This advice helped my health by keeping me very, very healthy. I started getting into that habit; you know not eating too much sugar. Now that I took their advice I am staying healthy, and strong. I am very glad I listened to my parent’s advice.

When I went to my cabin to help a farmer with work, I was really excited to go. The farmer needed help taking care of the animals and customers for food (the cabin was also a bed and breakfast). I went with my family and we brought our dog Simon, Simon helped a little with getting energy out of the farmers two dogs. We cleaned up the lobby, and fed the llamas. My friend’s family came too, to help out. I had a really fun time helping! I think that the farmer really appreciated our help for him. The reason he needed help was because his wife was out of town and she kind of owned the bed and breakfast. I was very glad to help!

My Reading Logs

Reading Logs are things we do at are school, in my grade. I am going to tell you two of mine, for this week. One of them is a book called Hoot, by Carl Hiaasen.

(Hoot) Carl was getting his head squeezed like a ball by some older kid, Dana. She sounds a lot like bully! I think that the strange boy running to catch the bus was maybe poor because he wasn’t wearing any shoes.

(Hoot) I just found out, Dana is a boy, and he was probably in 9th or 8th grade. Dana really wants to hurt smaller, younger people. So she does.

Do you like summer? Do you like fun? Well then you must like summer fun! I love it! You could play with neighbors, or play alone. You could go to the pool, or maybe the beach. (I prefer the beach) No matter what, it has to be fun! My personal favorite is just playing in the font yard, on a hot summer day…

One summer day I woke up to think it was going to be a very boring day. I got out of bed and ate breakfast, then went outside. (I wear my pajamas outside in the summer) I saw my dog Simon tied up to his chain, and saw my brother playing football with the neighbors. But then I just remembered about Simon, my new dog! (At the time) So I played this game me and Simon made up, and played it! It turned out to be so fun! We played it for about three hours! That was so much fun! That day was as fun as fun could ever get!

The Magic Book
By GK

A small girl named Bay was riding her horse to the Kingdom bookstore.
When she got there a good friend of hers greeted her at the very large doors… but it was not Shannon (her friend) it was her mother. “Mother what are you doing here?” asked Bay. The strange woman was not Shannon, or her mother! The woman grabbed Bay by the hand anxiously and said “follow me”. The woman led her into a very odd room, on the front of the door there was a small sing, it read, The Lair. The liar, thought Bay, what could that mean?! The woman told Bay to call her agent S.A.P. Bay asked why she had led her into the lair. Agent S.A.P. told her for an important reason, the magic book! Bay asked what that was and before she knew it she had the magic book in her had and she was back at home. Bay opened up this dusty old nook that said magic book… out came a bunch of mythical things! Unicorns, goblins, princesses, even three-eyed-dogs! Now Bay believed in magic.

Ever heard the song Frosty the snowman, that’s what it feels like to build one! Snow is crumply when you walk on it. Snowball fights are so fun, but only do it at home because when all the kids are running around, it’s likely you’ll get hit! Well I hope that you’ve had at least a little bit of an experience with snow!

Once when I went to Colorado I was in the elevator, at the hotel, and here was this random guy, who happened to be performing as a FAMOUS ACTOR and SINGER!
I recognized him a bit, but I couldn’t tell if it was he, then my dad told me when he got out! I was like freaking out of joy! There stood that random guy and I.

Dog VS Cats

Dogs rule, cats drool. Dogs rule because dogs are big. I’m allergic to cats! Cats are ok because well the only nice cat is my grandma’s cat. Cats can be mean and bite or scratch you. On the other hand dogs are just nice, sweet, and the cutest thing! Dogs are adorable, and I love them so much because my dog plus my grandma's are the nicest cats in the world!

Flowers and sun are the two main things in summer, besides the fun! Flowers are very important to summer because bees’ are the third main part about summer and they drink pollen, and that helps the flowers grow. Sun is the number one important thing in lots of things, like live, or growth so now you know my point.

Do you like sun?

I like the sun because it’s what keeps use warm, and it makes most things grow! Sun is made up of energy. The sun is like one of the top ten most things scientists’ study. Sun is also what kind of makes summer I mean it makes it warm!

Do you like flowers?

I like flowers because they can look SO beautiful and cool looking! Flowers help us and another fuzzy critter! In witch its name is the bee! Bees help us in many ways; one is that they make pollen for flowers to grow!

Now, after reading this paper you probably like flowers and sun more! Well do you?

A World of Dogs

If there was a world of dogs I’d live there! You probably figured out know that I love dogs! I would love to live there because dogs just know how I feel and I know how they feel. For example one day as we were driving to my grandmas house (she has three dogs) and he was whining like crazy and I just had a feeling that he was excited. When we got there he was barking! I knew then that he was super, super excited. I thought he might burst! And that’s what I mean by how I know how dogs feel!

Some neighbors are bad some are good, but mine are BOTH! The Neighbors on the left side are so nice, an older boy and girl like grandpa and grandmas. The neighbors on the right are a whole different story! Well let’s start with the three boys, one (the oldest) is so annoying, and the youngest, is so sensitive and screams a lot! And now for the most annoying, well I can’t really define him! That’s the end.

Sunny Days in Wisconsin

There are not very many sunny days in Wisconsin. That’s why it’s so cold! Right now its winter and it’s about five degrees out side, plus the wind chill. I miss when we went to California every year, so we can take a grey-skies break! I love the days when it is sunny, I mean even when it’s summer we’d be super luck if we got some sun! Sun is also my favorite planet, because without sun, we’d all be dead, or just really freezing! I also like the sun because it reminds me of good old times when he came out! Well I hope you liked this story and, know you’ll know the consequence of coming here!

Colorado is one of my favorite places to go, how about you? Well I love Colorado so much because, for one reason, they have lots of coyotes! I like coyotes! I also love it there because they have lots of snow! Colorado is a nice place to stay at, but I wouldn’t really like to live there.

One time my family and I went there during the summer. It was very hot there, at that time! Anyways we were staying at four different hotels! That’s a lot! The first one was called the Cambria sweets, it was nice! The other two I don’t remember, but the last was my favorite! We had already stayed there in Green Bay for my dad’s marathon, but this one was for some reason, better! I love Colorado!

School is a wonderful thing! Don’t you think? Well I know that I love school, it goes by so quickly! I like school because it’s were I became so social, it’s were I met my best friend! Also, Richards Elementary has like all the nicest teachers, and that’s the main reason I like school so much! School is fun because I meet a lot of new, and friendly students, and even teachers. Recess, Science, Math, and Art are my favorite things about school, my teacher this year knows lots of fun stuff to do, like she’s good at planning parties, also one time we did this awesome cookie project, and last but not least we can’t forget the chocolate project! Wow, all this food talk is getting me really hungry. Well I hope I didn’t get you guys too hungry!

My Dream

By GK

Have you ever had a dream, and it felt SO realistic? Well last night I did. One night I went to bed at nine fifteen, the usual, and said good night to my parents, then went to my bed. That night I tumbled, and tossed. Finally when I got to sleep I had this wonderful dream! My dream was that I lived in a world where I was an only child and we lived in a world where the environment was clean, everyone recycled and I had two puppies and of course my dog Simon!

Every night I had that dream in that magical land of happiness, but one night one of my puppies (Not Simon) ran away! When I found out about that terrible news I ran home from the park! When I got home I was huffing and puffing from being so sad and exhausted at the same time! I asked mom in a terribly sad voice “What are we going to do?” My mom said, “Never give up!” So the next night I was so worried about having the same dream that I cried my heart out!

In the middle of that night I had the dream, and my puppy had come back! Not only that but he brought back another puppy he had saved from drowning! I was so proud of him that day I decided to keep the one that he had saved! I named the three puppies (I hadn’t named the other two!) the Three Musketeers, Athos, Porthos, and Aramis! Then After that all those dream were gone. I was both sad and happy! That’s the end of my wonderful dream!

Wishes

If I had any wish my wish would be to get two more wishes! After that, now I have five so you’d think that I’d wish for more, but no, you’ll see! I’d wish for a puppy, a rabbit, or maybe a fish no a SHARK! No, mother would horrify that scary idea; by the way I think that I would too!

Maybe I would wish for more, no one would know! (Except me!) Maybe I’d wish for my brother to be nice, or non-annoying. But I’d just probably at the end like the begging I’d wish for more wishes, no one will know!

Simon is our family dog. He is a very funny dog. He is fun to play with and he is a very cool looking brindle kind of color. Simon is a mix of a lot of things we don’t know but we think he’s a mix of German Shepard, Golden Retriever, and a tiny bit black lab, and lot’s more we don’t know! I really love my dog Simon!

What I Want To Be

When I am older I would like to be an artist because in art you can draw or paint anything that you want. You can also be as creative as you want to be. Art is fifty percent of what I do most in my spare time, or at recess. I love to do art because I usually paint or draw about my feelings. I like to do art with my friends but I usually do it alone. I love art!

Missouri

Missouri is where my Uncle lives. You might hear me talk about it a lot but, he has a mini-movie theater in his house, and I’m not kidding! My Uncle is the best cook in the world. He has a really small house so he has a small kitchen too. My Uncle also has a dog, named Casey. Casey is adorable, she’s a brownish orange color and she’s really fluffy! My Uncle just got married last March and he had a fantastic wedding. At the wedding it wasn’t very crowded at all, in fact there was only like five people, well that I could see! I love going to Missouri and visiting my Uncle!

I’m good at?
By GK

I’m good at reading because it’s easy for me to sound out words or chunk them. I am also good at reading because I don’t read to fast or to slow. When I read it’s like having a dream about what is going on in the book.

I’m good at writing because it’s easy for me to remember all of the right places for the commas, periods, exclamations, and hyphens. I’m also good at writing because I am really creative with it.

I’m also good at art because you can get so creative and imaginative with it. Art is also my favorite school subject because our art teacher is really nice and she gives us creative ideas for at home.
