We are an intermediate classroom in an elementary school in British Columbia, Canada. We use our blogs as a place to practise expressing our ideas in writing (and maybe even sound, pictures & video when we're ready). We try to leave thoughtful comments for classmates & other bloggers we visit. Comments help us critique our ideas and our writing. They also motivate us to do more thinking, writing, sharing & revising. You can leave your thoughts on any particular article by clicking "comment" below it. Comments will be published after I have had a chance to read them.

Louise -- How to Deal with Peer Influence 2 Questions

Article posted May 28, 2010 at 02:07 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 3017

Question #1
How might peers affect your attitudes or behaviors? (Are peer influences always negative?)

Answer #1

Well they might affect our behaviors because maybe they want to fit in with their peers. But that sometimes doesn't become a good thing because what if for example they start to do drugs then you might want to do it too just to fit in.

Question #2

What are some ways you can help yourself make good choices no matter what your peers might be saying or doing?

Answer #2

Maybe just try telling them that they shouldn't be doing this because it's going to lead you and your peers into trouble. But if they don't listen to you still just leave them alone and you just do what you think is the right thing to do

Q:1) How are your choices/actions influecned by your peers?

I am inluenced by my peers when they say new words that are good wich can improve my vocabulary.

I think peer pressure is common these days. I think that it is mostly in High School. Because students are skipping school and drinking or smoking. They sort of bribe people doing stuff. You influence all the time. Influnceing is when someone tells you to do something and you do it. Peers are people around your age. If you ask someone to move their chair and they do it you just influenced them;. There is a positive kind of influenceing and negative kind of influencing.

Q:2) What can you do to make sure that peer influnces on your choices are positive rather than negative?

I can make sure that peer influence is positive that affects me I share with my parents and if I can't share with my parents on the spot and my peers are asking me to do something then I would ask myself "Why are they asking me to this." And then I try to say no in a nice way and if they keep on insisting I raise my voice.

To read more about peer infueceing go to KIDSHEALTH.ORG. And search PEER PRESSURE there will be lot's of diffrent articles. And you also think about these Questions.
