Title: Hero and UnHero (09/21/11)
Description:

I have enjoyed getting to know each person in our Reading Lab!!! It sounds as though we have lots of interesting characters in our class. Those of you that wrote your blog as though you were your character: great job!!! By doing this you are showing me that you truly understand the character you chose as your screen name. For those of you who did not do this.....try answering one of my blog questions from the perspective of your character. I also want to point out that some people even commented on other blogs from there characters perspective (for an example look at Junie B. Jones comment on Nobody's blog). I also encourage everyone to do this as well.

Now, down to business, this weeks question. We are beginning to get know the characters in The Doom Machine and we are just getting into the plot. Now, most books have some sort of hero, someone, who in the end, solves the main conflict. So, the first part of this weeks question will be: Who will be the hero at the end of the book? The second part of question will focus on the 'unhero.' This is someone who looks as though they could solve the problem, but in the end they let everyone down (including the other characters and the reader). So the second part of the questions is: Who will be the 'unhero'? With all of your answers please make sure that you support both of your answers with details from the book.

Fern -- The Doom Machine

Wilbur and I don't usually like to curl up and read a science fiction so this read aloud book has been an experience.  Well, anyways, to answer the question, I think that Jack will be the hero or Jack and Izadora and Jack will team up to stop the Doom Machine.  At this point, I believe that the best candidates for the un-hero role are the aliens.

Sombrita -- hero unhero

I think the hero will be Isadora because the author trying to trick you to think Jack is the hero since he is the main character. The unhero will be Jack and he will disappoint the other characters and the reader.

Sadie Kane -- The EXhero

I think that Jack and Isadora Will be the co-heroes because they both believe in the aliens and I think that Commander Xaphoon will be the EXhero because she hates the Earth.
