My Second Grade Technology Infographic

Article posted April 3, 2013 at 02:12 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 22

For one of our assignments in Computer class we had to take a survey of the Second Grade class in our school. The way we collected the data for the infographic was we created a survey in which the second grade students could provide answers. The way we did this was by Google Form. The only real problems I encountered was I had to change up some of my questions, and their formatting so the students could have multiple answers to questions. I really can not think of anything that I would do differently, because I did make changes throughout this project. Overall this was a pretty fun and interesting project. It gave me a general idea of how much technology plays a role in little kid's life.  Click here to see the survey.

After we recieved the results of the second grade class we had to make an infographic. We used this by Powerpoint. For each question we had we had to make a slide for it on the Powerpoint . We also had to display our resluts in a graph form, and one slide where people represented the results. We had to use CARP principles while making the slides.  These are contrast, alignment, repetition, and proximity. Using these principles were not hard while making the slides, but sometimes it felt like tedious work.  Infographics are a way to tell information that is very appealing to the eye of people. Click my infogrpahic image to see a bigger size of it.

Roller Coaster Physics Project

Article posted April 17, 2012 at 10:31 AM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 562

The purpose of this project was to see how Newtons Laws of Physics or Motion, plays into culture. For example roller coasters. The three Laws of Newton are: First an object at rest stays at rest unless acted on by an outside force. Also an object in motion stays in motion unless acted on by an outside force which is the law of inertia. The second rule is acceleration of an object depends on the mass of the object and the size of the net force applied. The final law is when an force is applied to an object the object exerts an equal force in the opposite direction.

There were four jobs in this project and here are there roles. The first job was the historian. That job was to find out the history of roller coasters. Like when was the first one made or what is the tallest one right now. The second job was the physicist. That job was to see how Newtons laws play into roller coasters. The third job was the lawyer. That job was to see how safety is involved in roller coasters. The final job and my job was the design engineer. My job was to see how roller coasters are designed. Also to see what they consider before making a roller coaster. For example they consider every inch on the ride and make sure it is safe.

This is roller coaster was a failure because it had to much acceleration.

This roller coaster was a failure because it had to much acceleration and speed. Probably because the first hill was to big.

This roller coaster was a success because it had the right amount of speed and acceleration. I adjusted the first hill and thats probably why it worked.

Our roller coaster was called Demon Hills. It had all types of devilish features like horns on the loops. It was based really on nothing it was just an idea one of us came up with. Drawing the roller coaster was very fun.

During this school year our students in grades 2 through 8 completed the President's Fitness Challenge. We took part in a variety of physical endurance tests. The sixth grade students charted the results for each event and grade. Here are the results of the Shuttle Run for grade 6. As you can see from the chart below 13 or 41% of the students achieved Presidential Level, 12 or 38% of the students achieved National Level, and 6 or 19% of the students achieved at Participant Level.

My Egyptian God is Osiris. The reason why we did this project is because we were learning about Egypt during the time we were doing this project. What I learned is the whole life about my God and how he was related to other peoples' God. This has been a very fun project and if I would ever do this again I would have just as much fun as I did now. To view my glog full size click here

Interview With King Tutankhamun

Article posted December 19, 2011 at 02:48 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 461

DL: It is my honor to have you with us today King Tut. If you don't mind I will like to get to know your life a little bit better so when can know more knowledge about you. I hope we can get more information on you and your life.

KT: I would love to answer your questions and I will try to give you my whole life based on your questions.

DL: There is many talk about you and your tomb having a curse. For example after hearing that Howard Carter found your tomb Lord Carnovaron the one who paid for that project died. Give me your opinion on this so called curse?

KT: Well for starters I was dead already and I also did not set a curse before I died so I do not believe in this. Also why would I kill someone who found my tomb. It looks as if all pharaoh tombs are found by someone. My opinion is that there is no curse and this is not true.

DL: There are mant different theories on how you died give the most reasonable one and why?

KT: Again since I was already dead I do not know. Although my best theory is the one with the chariot falling on me. Honestly this was just a wild pick because there are so many theories. I chose this one because it fits best I think. Since it was so sudden and probally if I was looking down I would probally not see it coming down on me.

DL: Explain why Egyptians thought a physical body was essential for the after life? Explain what they did with your body parts during the http://www.king-tut.org.uk/index.htm + ">process of mummification?

KT: Those are very good questions. First off we believed that life and death were stages of progress to a good life in the next world. We believed that mummification, the way of preserving the body after death, was neccesary to keep the soul alive. In the process of mummification the brain and the internal organs, except the heart, were put in canopic jars which were put with the mummy in the tomb. We believed that a physical body was essential for the after life because for the deceased and that without a physical body the soul had no place to dwell and became restless forever. The tomb, the process of mummification, rituals and magic spells promoted the well- being, and ensured the preservation, of the dead and the elements of the soul called the Ka, Ba and Ahk. Also during the process the mummy is placed in a sarcophagus. It is a long process and sometimes for people of this age confusing but, it was our way making sure we made it to a good question.

DL: In your opinion explain how http://www2.fi.edu/tut/religion.html">religion was important to Egypt?

KT: Well in Egypt religion was more than a belief system it was a way of life. In Egypt it was a part of every day life. The fundamental governing this system was maat. It was an abstract concept often translated as truth or justiceand it was represented by the goddess maat. Basically it represented how the world was suppose to be.                                                                                                                                                                                                                 DL: Can you give me three different spellings of your name and what they mean?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         KT: Well for first three names are Ka, Ba, and Ahk. They all come out to spell http://www2.fi.edu/tut/religion.html">my name Tutankhamun. By the way a winged scarab beetle comes out to spell those names. Also in my tomb I believe that they were on a wall so that is probaly how you found it.

DL: Well it has been a honor talking to you King Tutankhamun and I hope you will a have a happy after life. Also thanks for talking with us because now we have more information about you.                                                                                                                                                                                                                             KT: Well it was my honor and thank you.

Constitution Post 5- The Amendments

Article posted May 2, 2011 at 07:21 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 835

What I will be tallking about are The Amendments and what they are. The ability to amend the Constitution is one of greatest ability. It allows the Constituion to grow or adjust to different times and changing ideas. The amendment process is an example of Shared Powers. Amendments can be proposed by either Congress or the states but, for a proposed amendment  to become part of the Constitution it has to be approved by 3/4 of the states. The 13 14 and 15 amendment were adopted after the Civil War. They abolished slavery, extended the rights guaranteed in the Constitution to all Americans no matter what state they live in and, and prohibit the votes being denied because of race or color.

Constitution Post 4- The Seven Articles

Article posted May 2, 2011 at 06:18 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 713

There are seven parts to the Constitution and I am going to tell you them and explain them. The Constitution starts off with a preamble which tells everyone that this government has been established by the people. Article one outlines the legislative or law making branch of the government which is Congress. Article two lays out the frame work of the Executive branch which are the president, vice president, and the departments of the federal government. Article three outlines the judicial branch which are the Supreme Court and the other federal courts. Article four talks about the relationship between the states and the federal government and the relationship between the states to. Article five explains how the Constitution can change. Article six makes it clear that the Constitution is the supreme law of the land which means that states can have some power to make laws in there state but, they can not make laws that go against the Constitution and national laws. Article seven says that the Constitution will go into effect when it is approved by nine states which happened on June 21,1788 when New Hampshire approved it. Those are the seven articles to the Constitution.

Constitution Post 3- Three Principles

Article posted May 2, 2011 at 05:32 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 674

There were three principles in the Constitution that were signed in 1787 that still apply today and I am going to tell you them and explain them. The first principle is Separation of Powers that means that power was divided into three branches of government  which were the Legislative branch that enacts the laws, the Executive branch which laws are carried out, and the Judicial branch which interprets the laws. The second principle is Checks and Balances which means that each branch of government has some authority over the other branches. It limits the power of each branch and assures that each branch has to work with each other that way one branch can't become to powerful. The third principle is Shared Powers which means that the Federal government or Central government shares powers with the states which means that Federal government has some powers and states have some powers and they also share powers. Those were the three principles in the Constitution.

Constitution Post 2- The Virginia Plan

Article posted May 2, 2011 at 01:34 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 695

There were three main branches and they were called The Virginia Plan and I am going to tell you them and explain them The Virginia Plan was made by James Madison but was presented by Edmund Randolph. It was made into three branches which were the legislative branch which would enact the laws. The executive branch which would see if the laws would be carried out. Also the judicial branch which would see that justice would be done under the law. Those were the three main branches in The Virginia Plan.

Constitution Post 1- The Articles of Confederation

Article posted April 18, 2011 at 01:18 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 689

This post is about three reasons why the article of Constitution did not work. Congress did not have any power . There was no court system which means there was no judge so if there was a disagreement they would have nobody to help decide the disagreement . There was also no head of the government because they just fought England and they tried to get away from the king because they felt that he had to much power. Those are the three reasons why the Constitution did not work.

My Energy Class Post

Article posted November 1, 2010 at 01:18 PM GMT-5 • comment • Reads 295

Here are some ways you can save energy. The light bulbs that I have at home are 60 watts and the light bulbs [CFL] that we got in the kit were 13 watts. By replacing the old light bulbs with the new ones, we are saving 47 watts per day, or 17.2 kWh per year. By replacing an old light with a new light [Limelight], we are saving 40 watts per day, or 14.6 kWh per year. One way to save energy is to only take 5 minute showers. Also my family is saving energy by  when you brush your teeth only put on the water when you need it. Also a Nonrenewable Resource means it can't come back once we use it so instead of using coal we can use algae and that is more energy efficent. Here are some ways but there a lot more ways to save energy.

Celebrating Christmas at USA

Article posted December 16, 2009 at 09:06 AM GMT-5 • comment (1) • Reads 417

My favorite holiday is Christmas and I am gonna show you how I celebrate it. My favorite part is siting with the family singing Christmas songs, baking cookies,  counting down days till Christmas, and laying out cookies for Santa. It is wonderful when you get lucky and it snows on Christmas. Then you can build snowman and have snowball fights. And something that every family does is get a Christmas tree to decorate the Christmas tree. Every year my family and I go to my gram and pop to celebrate Christmas Eve. And that is how I celebrate Christmas.
