Title: I Was Shocked. Hopefully You Won't Be! (01/11/10)
Description: Our class will soon be exploring our new science unit of electricity. Last week, a gentleman came from The Long Island Power Authority, and he spoke to us about electrical safety. What did we learn? What did you think of his presentation? How could we get the information that we learned out to other students that were not able to be there? Think about what ways you could do or accomplish this. Be creative, and remember that the message is very important.

You may also add any other information that you would like.

Don't forget to check out and comment on the blog articles of your classmates!

Of course.. Make sure that you TRIPLE check your blog and your comments for proper capitalization, grammar, punctuation and spelling!

***Remember that a blog is NOT a journal. What you write can and will be viewed by other people, so DO NOT put any sensitive or personal information!***

I thought that the presentation from the man from Long Island Power Authority was very good. The man was very funny because he showed us a doll that kept getting shocked. It was awesome!
I learned that electricity can find a path through the ground and that electricity goes through water, so you need to wear clothes to protect you so you don't get shocked.
A good way to get these messages to other kids would be to make some posters and put them in your school with all of the facts that we learned that day, this way kids can see it everyday and not forget all the important things we learned.

I learned that electricity is always trying to find a way to get to the ground. I think his presentation was interesting because he talks about ways you can get shocked. I think we should put the fact of the day about something we thought was cool.

We learned about ELECTRICITY and how we can stay safe.

I thought his presentation was amazing.

WE can spread the information out to all the younger graders and tell them to pass it on.

It will be allmost easy but we can spread out the words.

A gentleman came to our school and toled us about electricty.I learened that you cant mix electricity and water together. For example, if you are drying your hair with a hair dryer-Do Not Leave near the sink or the bathroom...because you can get electricuted. I also learned that electric passes through your body to get to ground. This is called path to ground since eltricity has to get to ground. I thouhgt his presentation was interesting.I think a way we should get this info to other people maybe making a website, or make a video saying all diffrent things about eletricity on you tube.

I learned that you shouldn't grab the wire to any plug ,because it is the wrong way to hold a wire. You should hold it by the plug, its the right way to hold a wire. If you like to climb trees its fine as long as you don't touch the wire ,because than you become a path to ground, which means that electricity goes through you and touches the tree that leads it to the place where it started.
I thought that the man from LIPA's presentation was so realistic, and I think it teaches a lot of things about electricity. If some kids weren't there than we could tell them all about the things we learned.
By the way never ever touch those green boxes for they can hurt you real bad.For instance, some teenagers opened the locks and left without closing the locks. Then a little girl came up and touched it. Usually she would've died, but she survived, and then the only way she could live was if she took off her arms and thats what she did. If you don't believe me than try it out.

1)We learned that if you are touching or have any contact with the ground, and you are touching a power line, you'll get shocked. Also we learned that if you see a fallen power line on the ground, don't touch it because you don't know if it is on or off.

2)I think his presentation was interesting and cool. My favorite part was when the boy was getting shocked.

3)One way we could spread the information by putting signs that have the information on it onto store windows. Also we could put advertisements about the electricity on Google, Youtube, and on games.

We learned that electricity can shock you or it can do something that kills you.I thought his presentation was so cool.He taught us things I never heard of.To the other children we should say dont go near electricity. It can shock you.You would be at the hospital.

. I would never go close to a pole.
. Never go near light
. Never fly a kite near any electricity

I leaned that Electricity can burn your hands .If you do not touch the ground and walk on a power cord it wont shock you because there’s no path to ground. The presentation was very cool because it had sparks and fire. The way I could spread this information out is by telling my neighbor not to do it.

I learned that you should never be near water and electricity at the same time. If water and electricity coem together electricity moves quickly through water.

I think his presentation was interesting. He showed us neat things like if there is too much eletrical wires and how can it shock you.

We can get the information that we learned to other students by writing a blog about what happened, and sharing it with them.

I can do this by finding information at the library, on the computer and by talking to classmates and friends.

The presentation of the man from LIPA was very interesting.
Electricity is dangerous to people. When you touch a wire and ground you become PATH TO THE GROUND=http://:-0
If you don't touch the ground and the wire you are safe :-)
Water is a good conductor to eletricity so if you see a wire touching water you should tell a grown up ;-)
SO DO NOT PLAY WITH ELECTRICITY!!!
We can get information to other people by telling it or posting signs.Make a big posters and hang around the city.

We learned electricity is always looking for path to ground. I loved his presentation because he made electricity when they touched metal. Maybe we can make posters or do an announcement as a class on the loud speaker

I learned that you should never touch a wire if you are touching the ground. His presentation was so cool! It is so weird that you don't get shocked in a bus or car when a wire falls down on top of the bus or car.I will never put a paper clip, nail, toothpick or needle in an outlet. All types of electricity are dangerous no matter if it comes from your house or your telephone pole or your car. Even though electricity is dangerous, we can't live with out it.

I learned that you should never pull something out of an outlet from its cord and then do it the correct way the next time because you'll be in for a shocking experience!I also learned electricity wants to find a way to get to the ground-mainly through us.I think the presentation was cool because of the cool effects it made, and it was funny because of the model people getting shocked.Actually,I shouldn't say that because that could have been me!I could make a poster that says "Here's a shocking experience!"and people will get interested and read the information on the poster? It's just a suggestion.

I learned that electricity is very dangerous.I also learned not to touch a power line that goes through a tree and not to be the path to ground.I thought his presentation was outstanding! He really taught me a lot about electricity.
I think that other people should learn about electricity and to be warned about the dangers of electricity.
