Read-A-Thon!

Article posted October 29, 2009 at 02:00 AM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 1470

Today the 4th and 5th (That's us!) graders had a Read-A-Thon! It was AWESOME! :) The Read-A-Thon is a funraiser that the 4th and 5th graders do every year to help earn money for 5th Grade Camp.

The student bring pillows, blankets, sleeping bags, a snack, etc. and we pretty much just read the whole day! But before we do all of that, we get these funraiser forms to bring home and hope to find any sponsers to give a single donation, or pay you depending on how many pages you read. It's simple: Let's say my folks pledge to pay me 25 cents per page I read. So then if I read 100 pages that day, then they would have to pay me $25.00! We also have the Walk-A-Thon, which is another funraiser for 5th Grade Camp, but that's not until near the end of the school year.

I read these books called The Boy Next Door, and The Accidental Cheerleader. They're both from the Candy Apple Series. They're REALLY good. :) I read a total of 63 pages today. (Okay, I know for sure I can do WAY better than that, but it was just that I was SO uncomfortable for the first few minutes, and boy, I never relized the floor was SO hard and cold! I REALLY wish I had brought my sleepingbag!)

But other than the hard (and cold!) floor, I had a REALLY fun time today, and I REALLY wish we could do this more often, because what's better than reading? (Well, except for hanging out with for BFF's!) But other than that, I think reading is AWESOME! :D And remember, keep reading! ;D
