Roller Coaster Project

Article posted April 30, 2013 at 03:33 PM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 34

This projects purpose is to find out how physics and newtons laws are used to build a rollercoaster. Newtos first law says an object stays at rest until acted on by a moving force. Newtons second law says acceleration depends on a force acting on a mass. His third law says for every action there is a reaction.

The design engineer found how their built. The historian found info about past rollercoasters. The physiscts found how Newtons law refered to rollercoasters. My job was to find law suits and rollercoaster laws. I found alot to help keep me and others safe at amusement parks. Some of the ideas to help us our not to force people to ride rides or do someting they dont want to do.

The first picture is succesful because the first hill gives it enough speed and the hills slow it down so it stops. My second picture is a failure because it generates to much speed and does not have a strong enough force to stop it. My team named our rollercoaster Marvelous Macaroni. I built my coaster at this site.

Three Best Things About My School

Article posted February 12, 2013 at 03:43 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 38

My school is a very small school in Bethlehem. We are a Catholic school that loves after school activites. I'm proud to go to this school because we are a very atheletic school. I also enjoy what we do during Catholic Schools Week. We also are one of the best schools in the state at First in Math. These are some reasons i am proud of my school.

During this school year our students in grades 2 through 8 completed the President's Fitness Challenge. We took part in a variety of physical endurance tests. The sixth grade students charted the results for each event and grade. Here are the results of the Shuttle run for Grade 3. As you can see from the chart below, 10 or 33.3% of the students acheiced the Presidential Level, 13 or 43.3% of the students achieved National Level, and 7 or 23.3% of the third graders were at Participant Level. https://www.presidentschallenge.org/challenge/physical/activities/index.shtml">Description of the Event

Sandy

Article posted November 6, 2012 at 03:46 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 414

Hurricane Sandy caused 209 fatalities. Hurricane Sandy was considered to be a category 2. At least 52.4 billion dollars in damage Click here . I had a terrible experience with Hurricane Sandy. Winds up to 80 mph and heavy rain. My family was affected because we lost power and had to stay in a hotel. My whole neighborhood lost power too. I will always remember how long it took to get our power back and having to stay in a hotel for a while. Overall Sandy affected a lot of people. I think that will be what I remember about it most.

Making a Mark on the World

The story " The Dot " by Peter Reynolds has a great message. It is a message about how everybody is important. The girl in the story thinks she is bad at art, so all she can draw is a dot. It turns out her teacher loves her dot and frames it. She loves drawing dots and people love them. Click here to see a full size of my glog.

Do Not Smoke

My poster encourages people to stop smoking. It has two stop signs one tells you to stop. The other one tells you that if you don't stop you could die. I learned in heath that people start at a young age. People usually get addicted but they can stop now. To see the picture click here.
