We have been learning all about objects and materials. We wanted to know how materials can change when we manipulate them. We learned that when we add heat to popcorn kernels, delicious popcorn is made! Thanks Mr. Burkowsky for helping us learn this yummy lesson!

Unfortunately we had to cancel our outdoor trip to the Wascana Marsh because of the freezing temperatures. Fortunately we were able to visit the indoor Bird Sanctuary instead. We were very happy that we got to view all of the birds that were not able to migrate to a warmer climate. Our favourite bird was definitely the pelican which we watched swallow a whole fish! It was really neat! Thank you Kent for another wonderful experience that we will never forget!

We have been listening to Uncle Budd's motto: "Be the best that you can be and do the best that you can do!" This month, we have been working on cooperation and teamwork in order to feel a sense of belonging in our group. Here are some pictures that show us working together and helping all of our teammates feel like they belong!

September has been a very busy month and we have already undergone many changes. All of the classes at MacNeill School were very large and to accomodate the growing population we received a new grade two teacher. It is of course good news and bad news. We went from 28 students to 22 which means we have more time to get to know each other, read together and I get to spend more time helping each student individually. Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to six students who moved to Mrs. Ferwerda's classroom. I was so proud of these students for how well they handled the change and I hope that they come back for many visits. I know that the next week or so will be hard but once we get back into a routine everything will be back to normal.
We have many exciting learning opportunities planned for October so please continue to check the agenda on a regular basis. We will also be looking for parent volunteers in October to help with guided literacy groups as well as our pumpkin party!
Check out some of the links on the left hand side to access different Language Arts and Math websites to support what we are learning in the classroom.
