What skills are needed for your 2 paragraph essay?
Elaboration? Persuasive? Conventions? What do you need to reach and exceed standard?
Library….
Social Studies: Entry Task: You are working with a partner about the causes of the American Revolution. What were the really important causes.. Your recipe should show the most important by having more amounts from those BIG triggers… How to mix in the ingredients should reflect how the triggers happened- slowly poured? Marinate overnight?
Will you create an illustrated cookbook? A video- Rachael Ray-Yum-O? Julia Child: bon appétit",? What will your final, polished product look like.. Will it reflect the real reasons?

Your mission is to become seriously involved in writing about food, activity, person, or drink of your choice. You have to write two, yes, two well-written paragraphs, describing that irresistible food, activity or drink (or the attraction to the enticing and alluring food in detail).
Part 1
The Learning Targets for the 2 paragraphs are:
Paragraph structure – You know what I mean!
Topic sentence: 2- one for each paragraph
Supportive details or stories: at least 2 rich details per paragraph
Commentary sentences: your opinions!!: at least 2 per paragraph
Transitional sentence between paragraphs: 1 connecting the two P
Conclusion sentence @ the end of the second paragraph 1-2 sentence[s] at end
Also include the following:
Descriptive Language –
Details about the food or drink
Stories about the food or drink
Figurative Language –
Similes
Metaphors
Images
Conventions
Look at your yellow sheet- what mistakes have you made in the past that you can correct- dynamic, growing 8th graders
Have someone else read your paper out loud
Be warned, sometime descriptive sentences can turn to run-on
Part 2
You will also earn a grade for the writing process. When you turn in your final writing assignment, you will need to turn in all parts of the assignments. Below is a checklist, so you can check off each part and write the date you finish:
Brainstorming- Create an overabundance of ideas.
Organization – Carefully pick through all the ideas for your topic from your plethora of ideas. The describe it- sights, sounds, smells, taste associated with it, memories and imagination- popcorn in the microwave = parachutes of buttery flavor or a drive by shooting of your hunger….
Editing your organization- Do the ideas belong? Are there other ideas? Do they connect with your topic ideas?
Rough Draft- Inject or inoculate your ideas into two paragraphs. Use complete sentences without run-ons. Use the rubric to make sure you have it together.
Edit your writing Look for convention errors that you have made in the past. Look at your spelling: any words unfamiliar or a little strange? Have someone edit your writing by reading it out loud!
Final Draft Your writing should be written in ink or word processed in the best possible form. Handwriting should be very clear and readable.
Rubric You should rubric your work- highlight your areas.
Published Your paper should be handed in with all the pieces listed above, in an organized way. You can also create a “showcase” for your writing. You can ask Stockwell to publish your paragraphs on a class web page, create a creative frame, flip book, back of a cereal box, snack box, side of a slurpee cup
