Columbus

Article posted June 16, 2010 at 05:54 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1879

Should we celebrate Columbus Day or is it a horrible massacre that we are celebrating? Columbus day is full of controversy. It is in some ways racist and is also celebrating other cultures. Columbus was good and bad. Should we celebrate him or should we not?

Columbus was a not the person we all think. Columbus led the way to a holocaust.
He is responsible for killing millions of the native people that live in the Americas. He brought the plague of western civilization to them and explored the resources that were theirs. It doesn't make it right to steal from someone because they are not using what you stole. All the explorers that he influenced to slaughter the Native Americans and their way of life justified themselves by saying that they were helping. They all said they were bringing technologies to the natives, but can you use technologies if you are dead? They say that the Native would never live a civil life and would be miserable and that they were going to live short lives. Well many of the Natives had short lives, some lived short lives because the Westerners killed them. The westerners spread diseases that killed off the natives at first this was not their fault but later it was done on purpose. Columbus may have not been the great person that we all think. He destroyed the Native Americans and their land.

Columbus day is not something we should celebrate. It is a celebration of the death of the Native people that once lived in the Americas. We are taking a day off to remember a false memory that is masking the true horror of Columbus and the monster the he created. He may have changed the world but is it worth celebrating.

Outline.

Article posted June 11, 2010 at 07:09 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1276

Outline. You know it's there. It drifts in and out of view. You know it's there but will it come back. Moments pass and you wonder. It comes back from the dark but not fully it can't break free from it's dark chains. The rain falls breaking through the silents. The outline of black in gray stuck between what is and is not. The darkness fall and the outline darkens and bleeds to nothing as the rain falls where something the never was is.

Stock Market in Math

Article posted May 13, 2010 at 04:26 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1311

I invested in many stocks that did well. I invested in PIR it doubled in price and I had bought 245 shares. I invested because I did a lot of research and discovered the company. Trinity biotechnology is a biological med company. I invested because I knew that the future is in biotechnology. I invested 8000$ in apple and have not regretted it I have made over 2000$. I invested in apple because everyone has an ipod. I made a lot of money but could have made more if working with more money. I made 4500$ and had 10000$ to invest.
I would have mostly made minor changes to my stocks. PIR did very well and I would have bought more of it. I would have switched TRIB with sears holding because Trib didn't make a lot of money. It only went up by a small amount and was up and down all the time. AAPL did very well but I would have bought less so that I could buy more of PIR. AAPL was expensive and took up a lot of my funds. My stock did very well but I still want a little more.
The key to being successful in the stock market is to do research. I studied long and hard to find PIR. I saw it on the internet and it seemed good so I looked into it. It became a great stock and it doubled in price. TRIB is a stock I didn't know any thing about. I did not do much research and it didn't make as much profit as other stocks. AAPL was a company I liked and so I bought it. It turned out to be a company that is always on the rise it was always active in a bullish way. I did the research if you do to you will win.

One day at the lake a storm came it was powerful. The wind started to get stronger. I could see the wind coming across the lake it was soaring over the water. The wall of wind crossed the lake and hit. The wind was so strong, I ran to get indoors and got hit in the face with a twig it was crazy. I could lean on the wind it was so strong. I ran inside, the lawn chairs started to fly into the woods so the family had to put them under the deck just as we did the wind stopped.

Keltic project

Article posted February 19, 2010 at 03:10 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1335

My days invading the Kelt's.
I am a roman solder sent by Rome to take Scotland. Our leader Julius is a great and powerful man. Some of the soldiers think he was sent here to take Scotland . I am Samicus and I'm a roman soldier.
My first day in camp. The camp was a great place it is more of a small town then a camp. I went right to the baths when I got in side it is in the inner wall far from the barracks I should have worn my cape I was cold so I went in the warmest bath and relaxed for a little. Suddenly I saw a toilet sponge in my tub I can't imagine what person would do that. I jumped out of the water. Then went to the barracks to sleep.
That morning was our first invasion we went to a camp then we lit the houses on fire and left. A soldier came and I stabbed right though his shield with my gladius. We all left we would come back at dawn and settle the town and move on as we made our way back we saw some Kelt's. I took note of it. later that day on our way back to camp we were ambushed by the Kelt's. They were not a threat our war tactics and swords cut through there ranks easily Although I did get a large dent in my helmet I am happy our cloaks are red because it was a bloody day. When I got back to camp I was commended for my deeds and that I would get an estate when I retired.
That is were I am now soaking up sun and living it up. It pays to be a great roman soldier. My day were hard and cold but now I am rich and content.

MLK

Article posted January 27, 2010 at 02:38 PM GMT • comment • Reads 379

Martin Luther King changed the lives of many people black and white. His speech was destined to break down the walls of hate between the black and whites of the day. “One day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will sit down at the table of brother hood” he says. The message was that all people could be equal and respect every one they way they deserve. That all people will be judged by what they do not the color of their skin. Sadly he was assassinated in 1968 but his dream continued and overtime became the world we know today.

Persuasive By sjsa

I think that violent video games aren't too bad. They are really better for you than normal games because they take more thought to play. There is so much more that is going on than in a normal game.
Motor skills and logical thinking. It's good for your motor skills because the game is faster than normal games. Motor skills are dexterity. The games also teach logical thinking something that is very hard to teach. It is easy for a video game to teach because the video game makes you think on many different thinking planes of thought at the same time.
M games have therapy uses. Also it can be used for anger management. Violent people can just play a game and not hurt anyone. It's good for mentally challenged because they will hurt people in the game and not in real life. That's better than no violence at
all. It's a good thing. Violent people can just play a game
instead of hurting people.
M games are better than people think. They teach motor skills and logical thinking. Surprisingly they stop violence not make it because people get there anger out on the computer
and not a real person. M games are better for you than you think.

I was amazed how long it takes to make thanks giving dinner in the 1700's it takes all day to cook the turkey. It takes weeks to prepare for one meal

Also they had a day for begging . They put every thing in one bag using knots amazing.

People were very strict they had bad punishments and made kids do tons of chores and could not go into certain rooms. also they couldn't bring toys out of their rooms.

A Lone boat

Article posted October 29, 2009 at 03:18 PM GMT • comment • Reads 383

A lone boat out of place.
Halve in halve out of the water begging to go to sea once more.
Tilted towards the salty water,
ready to go.
Alone on the beach sinking in the sand.
A strange unwelcome sight of happiness gone.
Rudder and prop sticking out of sand covered in grease.
Motor oil leaks into the sea like long black fingers
searching for something gone astray. A lone boat

what I did this module

Article posted October 26, 2009 at 01:55 PM GMT • comment (2) • Reads 75

Dear person This module I worked on number patterns , algebra and exponents. My favorite thing was the exponents because I already know all about them. I also like the number tricks because they are fun to do for home work.

I think that most of the work that we did was a review and things I did it the start of last year. I think that we shouldn't have worked on the order of operations because we did it so much last year. I do think that it was a good review of it though. Exponents was a review to but I did not mind it at all. Funny right?

Things that I like. I liked bar and line graphs because I like information. I loved probability because I like to predict things. I like exponents to but I already said that.
That is what I liked.

Things that I dislike. I did not like the order of operations. It was to much of a review for me. I do not like number patterns they are boring and they take to long. I despise them.

What I think. I think that this was all a review. I liked more things than I disliked. Over all I liked it but it was a review.

Planets

Article posted September 24, 2009 at 02:51 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1340

The planets. Our Solar System is full of planets. The first four planets are very close. Mars and Jupiter are pretty far apart around one AU. After Jupiter all the planets are very spaced out, and they are all gas planets. There is even a pattern about the distance between planets. Our Solar System is packed.
