Scientific Valentine's Day

We learned about our space address. We live in the North-West Hemisphere on the earth, in the sol, in the galaxy, in local, and in another local! My love for you is as big as going to pluto from the sun and back.

We learned about air pressure. When we are in the low's, and have lousy weather, you come and make it high, and make happy weather.

We learned about the fastest thing in the world, which is the speed of light. But, my love for you goes even faster than the speed of light.

We learned about clouds. There are many different types of clouds. There is cyrus clouds, which are very high up in the sky and very thin. There are stratus clouds, long, wide clouds. We learned about cumulus clouds, big, puffy clouds. Also nimbus cloud, which are storm clouds, and even fog. Fog is infact a low to the ground, type of fog. When I am under a nimbus cloud, you come and clear up the bad weather.

Roses are red, violets are blue, 1 million light years come no where close to how much I love you.

Fog by the Sea

You can enter the text of your blog here!

The stillness of the fog

slowly creeping

up upon the

tree tops.

The moaning of the

buoys bustling

in the

sea.

The haziness of the

forests floors,

and the

water vapor hovering

over the water,

shortly

spraying a loon that

has passed by.

A sky so

dark

with the backdrop of the

trees, so gloomy and

mysterious,

slowly

mixing in with the

mustiness of

the fog.

The mildew on the grass

that sits on the settled

slits of greens after

a long foggy

night.

The cold air jumps around

the sky like a dancer,

dancing in the

night.

The fog is so thick, that

the twinkling of

the stars are

hidden,

like rocks below the water.

The sea glimmers in the

night, then glows

when dawn hits.

The moon is full

tonight, but is

hidden by the

fog and the

the trees.

The

fog thickens, drowning out the sound

that the little creatures of the forests

makes. The sun is creeping up,

leaving a sympathetic

reflection on the

water, and

the

Branches, high

up in the

trees.

Blast to Past in Fashion!!!!

Article posted January 27, 2010 at 03:27 PM GMT • comment • Reads 432

Womens fashion was a lot different in the past, rather than today. They used corsets, hoopskirts, ruffles, and dresses. Today woman just put on shirts and pants, and even dresses. The older articles of clothing are stiil used today, but not as often as when they first came out.

London train workers on strike

Article posted January 8, 2010 at 02:09 PM GMT • comment (3) • Reads 166

Good day, I am a teenager with some major complaints about the British train companies. However this also concerns the workers. I believe that the train workers in England should stop going on strike. It is much quicker to get around by train, than by bus. The reason that I feel like this is simply because I had a delay when I recently visited the U.K.. My mum discovered that the train workers had gone on strike again so, we had to find a last-minute ride to Norwich from London.

Taking the train is much better for the environment. If people take the train, that would lead to less cars that would be polluting the area. If the train workers go on strike at the last minute, then the people would have to find another way of transportation.

People would be able to get around England faster. It would take about an hour to get from London, England to Norwich, England by train, but it would be about 4 ½ hours by taking the bus. If people need to get to work and they need to take the train, then they would be late, if they went on strike that day. This might also concern tourists who would like to take the train around and that don't have another way of transportation.

Keeping the trains running would be better for the train companies. If the train companies paid the workers more money, then they would have to raise the price of the train tickets, and they would get more money. The people would not get mad at the train companies or the workers, so it would be easier for everyone. If the workers get paid more, then they can support their financial life.

Another concern is that these workers are being fired from their jobs, and they are going on strike because of that. For example, November 5th, 2009 in Philadelphia, PA (USA), some of the train workers got fired so they decided to go on strike, and it got so out of hand that they ended up killing some innocent people. It was their 3rd day on strike.

Overall, it would be easier for the people to take the train, so that they would not be late or have to plan last-minute ways to get around.

Joe Flood

Article posted December 22, 2009 at 07:17 PM GMT • comment (2) • Reads 1152

A few weeks ago, a man named Joe Flood came into the Rye Jr. High school to talk to the 7th grade students. Joe has been coming into the school for several years, and visits a lot of other schools to talk to students about drugs and alcohol. Joe Flood is a 70 year old sober alcoholic that went down the wrong path in life. Joe lost his family, his home, his business, and friends all because of drugs and alcohol. He talks to students about how drugs and alcohol can mess up your life, and if you are not careful, it can kill you.

When Joe flood was 13, he got hooked on drugs, and when he was 15, he got into alcohol. By the time of high school, he was an alcoholic and a drug addict. He then went to collage and got a great job as a hotel manager . He had a lovely wife and six children. But he lost all of that to lying about his alcohol problems. He did drugs behind his family's back 's and lost his family, and his job.

He talked to us about our brain and how it has six rooms in it. He also talked to us about how we could kill ourselves with alcohol by choking on our vomit. Joe flood is a man who can really change your opinion on what you think of drugs and alcohol. He has a sad story, and does not wish that that will soon turn into our lives. He talks to us, not to manipulate our doings, but to knowledge them.

What we are doing in math

Article posted November 10, 2009 at 07:21 PM GMT • comment • Reads 86

Dear Mum,

Hello. We have been learning a lot in math! We are learning theoretical and experimental probability. What that is, is theoretical probability means to know what a fraction is out of an amount of large numbers for example, if I have 30 guitar picks, and 10 of them were red, 9 of them were blue, and 11 of them were green, then my probability would be 20 over 60 for red, 18 over 60 for blue, and 22 over 60 for green because we would double the numbers. Experimental probability is actually doing the experiment and then writing down what you got in a fraction form. For example, if I were to pick out of the same bag 60 times, and I got 20 reds, 30 greens and 10 blues, then it would be, 20 over 60 for red, 30 over 60 for green and 10 over 60 for blues. We would then compare our experiment probability with our theoretical probability and say the differences that we see. In this case, the differences are that we got 10 over 60 for blue and our theoretical probability was 8 away. For the green, we got 30 over 60, but for our theoretical probability it was 8 more than our theoretical probability. For the red we actually got the same amount for both our theoretical and experiment probability.

We have also been learning exponents. Exponents are simply only exponential form and standard form. Exponential form is when you write out a whole problem. For example, 3x3x3 would be in exponential form. Standard form is when you write it out in a shorter way. For example, 3 to the 3rd power. Then, you would solve it. It would be 18 for the answer.

We also worked on our graphs. We used bar graphs and line graphs. We worked on figuring out which graph to work on with different information. We took a take-home-test on stocks. We found out all of the information on them, and passed it in about a week later. We looked at the map to find the vertical and horizontal sides name. It was a very good module.

Sincerely,

Whab

Miracles of the present

Article posted October 27, 2009 at 04:53 PM GMT • comment (1) • Reads 104

Through all of their troubles and all their fears,
our town of rye has brought us here.
We cherish their moments but stop to live ours,
and time is short just look at our cars.
How rye has changed in many ways,
we look back at their very days.
