SS Romans in Scotland

My name is Logianumphricus Adamiaus. I am a roman foot soldier. My general is Julius Caesar. His army conquered almost all of what is now France. I fight in the auxilia, which fights in front of the infantry. At this point we’re at war with the Celts. They are very much like us.

The Celts and Romans are very unique. We both have spears, but ours can only be used once, yet the Celts spears are made to make a deep wound in their enemy and are used more than once. The Romans had a kit bag that had tools, food rations, a mess tin, and a kettle. The Celts didn’t have kit bags. We also use shield and helmet. Our Helmets cover our ears and were made of bronze. The Celts helmets are made of leather and don’t cover their ears. Their shields are made to cover their whole body, as are ours. Our shields are made of long strips of wood pressed together with glue from boiled cattle skins, while the Celts’ shields are just a piece of wood covered in leather. Our swords are about two feet long and used for stabbing. On the other hand the Celts had long swords used for slashing and cutting. Unlike us the Celts painted their faces for battle. I don’t think the Celts were very smart because they didn’t wear armor. Our villages consisted of Barracks, Workshops, a bath house, Head Quarters, and the Captains Quarters surrounded by walls and trenches. The Celts’ consisted of houses and workshops surrounded by a wall. As you can see our villages are very different. I live temporarily in the barracks; they are long buildings that have about twenty rooms. Head Quarters is where Legion Officers met to discuss strategies and other things. It was also where soldiers twice a year swore an oath to the emperor. The Bath House is where everyone bathed, did their “Business,” and where they got massages. The Commander’s Quarters are where the commander and his family lived. It had its own baths and kitchen. The workshops were where weapons and tools were made. The Celts’ workshops were where tools and weapons were made. The houses were where everyone lived. We Romans and the Celts are very different yet similar at the same time.

As you can see us Romans are much more civilized then the Celts and it shows. We defeated them because of this. We have really gained a lot of territory in this battle. I have learned a lot in this experience. Long Live Rome!

Persuasive Essay

Men Chorus

I think that the 7th Grade man's chorus should be lengthened and have it more times a week. We only get 25 min a class and one class a week. It takes 5-10 min to set up. That only leaves about 15-20 min to actually sing. When there's a concert some kids don't even know the words.
One of the main reasons is that we need to sound better. At the harvest fest Mrs. Wirth had to bring out the music for “Sweet Home Alabama”, and it looked bad because some of us were looking at the words the whole time. So we need more time to memorize the songs. Another plus is that we will learn the pitch better. If we had more and longer chorus classes, those are some ways that we would sound better.
Another good reason is kids love to sing and this would help them get better. Them getting better would help our group to sing better. Also if maybe we're having a bad day we can express our feelings in song. These reasons would really help our group out.
We would really appreciate it if we could have more chorus time. Some of the kids love to sing and this would really help them. We would sound a whole lot better. All together we would get better. I just wanted you to know that.

Myth

Article posted January 27, 2010 at 02:37 PM GMT • comment • Reads 280

Christofferson Cuss was a lonely man seeking the companionship of a women. One day Christofferson went hunting. He got all the way out to his favorite hunting spot. An open valley with a quarry and scattered trees. As he was hiding in the bush he saw her. She was beautiful. Elegantly diving off the quarry walls and plunging in to the water. She had beautiful brown hair, amazing blue eyes with an amazing figure. It was like she was a goddess yet isolated from the city. This nature girl was the one for Christofferson. He came back every day and waited for her. Weeks past and he finally got the courage to approach her, when she emerged from the clear blue water she was a bit startled.
“Hello miss, I'm Christofferson, and I think you are the most beautiful women I have ever seen.” said Christofferson “Would you like to join me for a picnic this morrow?”
“Uh well I just met you and you don't even know my name. I don't know, I guess.” said Mystic “Well, what is your name?”said Christofferson.
“My name is Mystic.” said Mystic. The next day before sunset Christofferson set out with the picnic supplies. When he got to the valley he met up with Mystic and they set up the picnic. As the sun was setting they gazed into each others eyes it was certain that they were in love. Christofferson was so intrigued by love he was determined o find the true meaning of love. So he and Mystic set out to find it. They observed other couples, books, poems, stories and everything they could. But they couldn't see it. They were looking right at it but couldn't see it. It was them, that's what the were overlooking. They were the perfect couple. They were perfect together. The true meaning to love is happiness. Happiness is the answer. They got married and all lived happily ever after.

MLK Speech Essay

Article posted January 27, 2010 at 02:32 PM GMT • comment • Reads 442

Dr. Martin Luther King's “I Have A Dream” speech had a huge impact on how we view our world today. This speech was given on August 28, 1963. This speech was meant to target religious and racial differences, to resolve them. One of my favorite quotes is “Free At Last” these words really tell us why he wrote the speech. It means that we will finally be Free At Last. His idea really influenced how we view our world. For instance every man has equal rights. Thank you Dr. King.

Artist Statement

Article posted January 15, 2010 at 02:24 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1312

I recently made a collage out of magazine clippings and mod- podge. I want people to see my personality in my work. We used an important method for this, first we got a canvass, and then we got a magazine, mode-podge, and scissors. We cut out pictures put mod-podge on the canvass then put the picture on and covered the picture and repeated this until it was covered. Then we used a paint called Gesso over stencils that we made. After that dried we painted over the Gesso. And that was our project. -ARLO-

Joe Flood

Article posted December 23, 2009 at 02:54 PM GMT • comment (2) • Reads 1286

Joe Flood was really fun I had a great time and learned a lot!! He really could relate to us. I learned mostly about how alcohol can mess up your life. You can loose your family and friends, your job. It's not a great thing to fool around with. Same thing with drugs you can loose all those things and more. I think this is a great activity for the school and everyone.

I learned about the six parts of your brain and what alcohol and drugs can do to them. Say your at a party and a friend asks you if you want a beer. If you say yes and have one you need to have another because your brain likes that feeling. You have another and another and you start hallucinating, and you have some more, eventually you will pass out. Alcohol is bad for you until your liver is fully developed. 21 is the magic number. I really benefited from this.

This workshop really reached out and helped me and my friends. If you are reading this you should try to get Joe to come to the near you. He really opened my eyes to the subject and now I know what to look out for. Thanks Joe.
