Need more time off

Article posted January 8, 2010 at 03:12 PM GMT • comment • Reads 194

I believe that students need more time off. We are going five days a week in school and over about 7 hours long. It is a lot after a long day and then come home to relax but either we have something after school or have a boat load of homework. If we added more vacation during holidays, April vacation, and February vacation, then kids could be relaxed and ready and learn. Kids do not have anytime to be a kid with everything that goes on in life sometimes they need a break.

Another thing is family time. Families do not get enough time to go any places. The best time to go on vacation is when you are young because when you get older the schedule gets so much crazier. There is not a lot of time to hang out with family or friends. During the holidays families either fly out to see family or the opposite and there is not much time for families to visit long.

Yes, it might mess up class plans but if we still kept the same schedule it would still work out. Teachers would be ready to reteach if they did not get to finish a lesson before the break. If we did more vacation than kids would stop complaining during class about how they want a break. Also you could have their full attention. If we did this I know there would be people that would disagree on having more vacation because they think that kids already have enough time off and they should not get any more. But you would have to think, when you were a kid wouldn't you want a longer vacation? it might mess up plans but if we still kept the same schedule it would still work out. But you would have to think when you were a kid wouldn't you want a longer vacation. To have more vacation it would be a great change and a great chance to take but there would be learning and resting and more family and friend time. So lets not think about it, lets do it!

Math Letter

Article posted October 28, 2009 at 02:50 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1169

Dear Mom, Mom we have been learning a lot in math. We have covered so much that I want to tell you all about what we have been learning in 7th grade math. The first thing we learned was Bar graphs and line graphs. Also how to analyze graphs. Learning if we should make it a line graph or a bar graph. Another thing is exponents, I like doing exponents, they are not bad. Exponents are shortening a really long problem, say two to the fifth power. We have been learning about probability also. There is a couple of things we did on probability, we put names in a bag of our class and pulled each one out and found its probability. There was theoretical and experimental probability. We have done lots of equations, like term and term numbers. Another thing that we have been learning in math is sequences, and finding what will be the next sequence. When we are learning something new we usually get to play a game to understand what is going on and help us with key concepts. Also we are learning about squares, cubes, and finding the area. With cubes it is finding the volume. We have learned so much in math class and we are going to keep going, we are all done with module 1. I can not wait to tell you about what will be happening in module 2. Love, BSVI

The Snowy Day

Article posted October 27, 2009 at 06:03 PM GMT • comment (3) • Reads 427

The black horse is ready to ride.
Ready to dashing away all through the town..
On an early cold snowy day.
Where all you can see the footprints of the horse.
The man beside is ready for a ride.
So take him far but not to the sky.
Now back from enjoying the ride.
Take the man one more time.

Planets

Article posted September 24, 2009 at 04:32 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1297

Hey mom want to know what I am learning in school. I am learning about the planets in science. We have started with the sun and working our way back until the last one. We had a little time line of planets and they all were put together but as we kept going the more they space out and the more in got colder. It Mercury, Venus, Earth, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Pluto. Pluto is even not a planet but we still count it. Mercury is one of the warmest planets all the ones by the sun are very warm planets. Some of the planets are bigger than earth and other ones are smaller. Venus and Earth are almost the same size. Well that's all for now.
