Honor and Bridge by MRDA
Once the world was full of riddles,
fiddles and tiddles,
Nothing was bound,
hound and round,
Life was a ball,
fall and stall,
It would bounce and roll,
bowl and coal,
And never be still,
mill and will,
In a moving world,
swirled and pearled.
In these times,
pines and rinds,
There was a man,
pan and can,
who had on him,
swim and rim,
the only thing he owned,
loaned and moaned,
which was of more worth,
birth and girth,
than of silver and gold,
bold and fold,
yet when people would look,
cook and crook,
they would only see the man and his clothes,
loathes and rows,
For what he carried,
married and parried,
could not be seen,
bean and keen,
except for the way,
sway and pay,
he carried himself,
shelf and elf,
for this thing,
wing and ring,
was his honor,
wander and squander.
Then one day,
ray and say,
a jealous guy,
sky and pie,
took this from the man,
ran and pan,
and threw it over a cliff,
stiff and riff,
the man cried and cried,
spied and wide,
until there was a river,
liver and slither,
that filled the gap,
map and strap,
But the water,
hotter and otter,
was moving much to fast,
past and cast,
to swim across,
moss and toss,
so he realized that he must build a bridge,
midge and lidge,
so he could get over it,
bit and spit,
and claim his honor back,
smack and lack,
and suddenly he saw,
maw and paw,
a great stone path,
wrath and bath,
that lead straight to his prize,
size and lies,
and he crossed over leaping in joy,
boy and hoy,
he took up what was his,
miss and kiss,
and now wanders to this day,
hay and play,
still laughing and happy,
sappy and waffy,
and long since that bridge crumbled,
tumbled and stumbled,
and that river has been diminished,
finished and minished,
But you can still see the place,
grace and space,
where he momentarily lost his honor,
wander and squander,
that is now commonly known,
loan and cone,
as the Grand Canyon.

Final Report On the Stock Market

In math class we got a project about the stock market. Everybody could spend 10,000 dollars on buying stocks from three different companies. I picked Google, Apple, and United Technologies. I picked Apple and Google because they are well known, large companies with a pattern of doing good. I picked United Technologies because it had a pattern of doing well too. I picked a lot of technology stuff because technology is commonly used and that Google and Apple were always coming out with new cool things like the droid and the Ipad. I thought these were could variables and that is why I picked them.
For some things this quote comes into play "All that is gold does not glitter". One of those things is the stock market. Some stocks are deceitful, they look promising but then they crash. On of the stocks was Google. When I bought it it was $570. Then next thing I know it goes down to $532 and I had to sell it! If I could change anything about my stocks it would definitely would have been to get rid of Google and buy Hershey. Hershey started somewhere around $31. Now it is $47. I could have made so much money off of that. Also if I could go back and do it again I would get way more Apple stocks. I gained a lot of money from them. But you always learn from your mistakes and you can't go back in time so the best I can do is help others with making the right decision.
Whenever you have the opportunity to get advice, you should take it. Right now I am giving you an opportunity for that advice so you can make a lot of money. For me Google was a let down. I expected to earn a lot of money from it but instead I lost $382. It was doing well and had a pattern for going up but then it went down. Now I know and am telling you to NOT BUY GOOGLE. Instead by Hershey. I almost got Hershey in the beginning but thought that Google would do better. Now it went up to $47 from $30 and google crashed and burned. I could have made a LOT more money and now I give you the chance. If you want to make more money than you should also get stocks from Apple. I bought Apple stocks at $200.31 and by the time I got to sell it it was worth $268. I got a LOT of money, almost 2.5 times more than what I lost from Google. Now by learning from my mistakes you can make lots of smart stock choices and make a lot of money.

In LA class we made speeches about memorable incidents. I did mine getting my dog Cedar and how crazy he was. Its not really an incident, more like a fond memory.

Beep, beep, beep, BEEP! The barrier is gone and you shove off trying to get in front
over the early hills. Next to you people from across the world are trying to do the same
thing. Your over and in second place but, there is still hope because now you have to
speed down the track and leap high in the air over the jumps. Looking forward for a pass
and looking behind to block them from passing you at the same time is hard but you
also have stick the turns and landings. Whoosh! Your flying through the air and gaining
speed. Then your on the ground racing across the snow going around a bend the person
in front of you turns wide, suddenly an opening appears and you take it now your side
by side with your opponent and going over the next jump and you blow by him in midair!
You gain speed on the landing and the gap is now getting wider in between you and the
other racer. And your in the air again and it feels great. You can see the finish from
here... there is only one more jump! You land perfecting and are approaching the last
jump. You hear a whistling in your ears and look down, your thirty feet in the air and
soaring towards the finish line. You can see the fans cheering and yelling there lungs
out. You look behind and realize why they are so frantic... someone is right behind you!
THUD! You land and slide down as quickly as possible and right over the finish line! YOU
WON THE GOLD=http://=http://!
That is what we call Snowboard Cross. It is a relatively new Winter Olympic sport and
looks like a LOT of fun. There are fours snowboards in each round and they race over
hills and jumps and corners to see who is the fastest snowboarder. First round of
qualifications is called the qualification round. In each round whoever comes in second
and first goes on to the quarterfinals . First and second in those races go one to
semifinals. By then there are only 2 sets of racers so the first and second winners of
those races go against each other for gold.
Then there is the question: What do they do when there is no more snow? In the winter
Seth Wesscott may be the the great snowboarder, but when he is in the off season he
transforms into Lance Armstrong. To stay in shape at the Olympic level it takes a lot of
hard work. One of the most popular ways is to bike. Skiers bike, snowboards bike, ice
skaters bike. Other things they do is lifting weights and running and stretching.
Like in all sports there are some people that are better than others. Those guys are
the ones to watch. When you are watching Snowboard Cross you should always look for
Seth Wescott and Ricker Maelle. They have won before so it wouldn't be surprising if the
did again. But the sport is gaining in popularity at a fast rate so there will be talented
rookies coming up and just like in all sports, there are always SURPRISES.
Results: Seth Wescott gold, Mike Robertson silver, and Tony Raimon bronze.

Romans in Scotland

Hey! My name is Anton Xaer and I am part of the Roman cavalry. We just invaded and took a Celtic village! There are so many divers things here. The buildings are different, the things inside them are different, the people who lived here are different. Now, I am going to tell you just how these things differ from home sweet home!
In Caledonia the people live in 2 story huts, the animals were on the bottom and the people on top. The roof is made of thatch ( It is a better material then you would think) and the walls of timber and/or stone. That is much different than are rectangular one-story barracks. We have wood roofs and wood walls. In the village there is a workshop where they kept and made all of their tools. So do we! Another large thing different is are cloths/armor. You can see the Celts coming from a kilometer away. They wear bright colored clothing, even in the battle field! While we are wearing metal armor that protects us, they are wearing this bright clothes and not much armor if any! They wear these thick metal necklace things called torcs all the time, even in their graves! I think there kinda cool looking though.
Theses people are primitive compared to us. We have stone and this new thing call concrete and aqueducts and other stuff. They don't really have much of that and some none at all. But we are not perfect. We are constantly fighting other people and lately ourselves. These people have more peaceful lives (until we came).
We are a well trained, well equipped large, professional army and we win battle after battle against them but we can never can fully conquer them. Not that I really mind. I would much rather be back home eating better food and out of this cold, misty place. I think that with Hadrian's Wall up we will be just fine and can go home. Its not like the Celts are a threat to the empire or anything. Well, I should probably get some shut eye now because we are marching tommorow. Again. Night!

My love for you is high my distance from you is low that let's me soar above the land below You are like a white giant in the sea of blackness that life can be but When I see you you explode and bath everything in light Your eyes make my heart beat faster than the speed of light If you took my love and threw it to the sky It would be a stratocumulus covering the sky.

This year in school the life skills class took the time and gave Mr.Flood a chance to help us understand the effects of drugs and alcohol. I learned many different things in the classes with him and I think he did a good job at it. He was the perfect man for the job. This is because he is an X alcoholic so he knows firsthand what its like. This firsthand experience helped us learn and him teach because he actually lived it so I guess it kind of had more meaning to me than a regular doctor regular doctor saying “don't drink cause bad things would happen”.

Do you want the world to end up a barren, hot place with no wildlife? Do you want life to be boring and by taking 1 breath outside cause you to be ill or even die? Because I don't. I want to be able to see other life and nature left alone so it can live naturally. I want to be able to show future generation the beauty of the woods and the mountains and other creatures of the world. The oceans clean and with life in them without islands made trash. The world not heating up and enough oxygen for us to live comfortably. We can stop all of this by doing 1 simple thing: Preserving Nature.
It's simple and effective. All you have to do is recycle everyday and stop destroying land. I know it is bad for logging companies and some farmers, but we can compromise for how much land is destroyed. Plant trees after you cut down the forest. Maybe loggers could only cut down 1 of every 3 trees of an area. Instead of cutting down trees for cows, don't raise cows and get paid the same amount you would for the meat of a cow . You would be paid for not cutting down trees. Of course this would only be in effect if you were incapable of raising animals due to trees.
It may not sound fair for loggers and governments right now but wait until you see the stark reality. Every minute around the world 100 trees are cut down. That's 1,440,000 trees a day! For 1 pound of beef from a single cow, 200 sq ft are cleared. AAAAAGGGGHHHHHH!!!! By using my idea the world could be a better. It sounds like the government would be giving away their money but that isn't true. They would be paying for oxygen, clean air, preventing global warming, preserving natural land and more. There is no need to make machines to suck Co2 out of the air. That's what trees do naturally.
How would you feel if all of a sudden plants and animals started making stuff out of us and hunting us down to extinction? I would feel pretty bad. We would constantly be on the run from the natural world. There is no place on Earth where we could hide. This is what animals are doing accept their running from people. As the dominant species we should be helping the earth in the best possible way.
The rate at which we are cutting down trees and killing animals and destroying land for cities is unbelievable. In 100 years students might be reading about trees in text books, trying to picture them in their minds. We should be more focused on preserving the Earth than going into space. Instead we spend billions of dollars on going somewhere else. Before we try to go somewhere else lets try to not destroy the place we are.

When I was at Strawberry Banke learned a couple of things. One was that rich people made gift baskets with some clothing and food in them and gave them to the poor who went door to door like it was Halloween.
Also I never knew that Benjamin Franklin tried to make the turkey the symbol of America.
It surprised me that the people back then made around 100 pies each household.
