Columbus Day Opinion

Article posted June 16, 2010 at 06:19 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1850

In the U.S.A. And a couple other countries they celebrate a holiday called Columbus day. Columbus day is a celebration of the European discovery of North and South America. Some people think its a celebration of Spanish and Italian heritage holiday. People have been debating if the holiday should be celebrated or not. In my opinion there are multiple reasons why we should celebrate Columbus day.

My first Reason is its an American heritage holiday. My second reason is people think because Columbus found by mistake its bad but, he discovered one of the leading manufacturers in the world. My third reason is that its a celebration of the of our country. My reasons are heavily supported.

My opinion is based of heavy research. Some bad things happen but that creates a lot of good things. People may disagree but read my essay please. This is one of the few U.S. Holidays so lets just celebrate it. That is why I celebrate Columbus day.

Bridge Writing

Article posted June 15, 2010 at 05:11 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1412

There are two main bridges between Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Kittery, Maine are the Memorial Bridge and the Sarah Mildred Long bridge. The Memorial bridge is in critical condition, it will have to be closed in two to five years. The Sarah Mildred Long bridge which is also in critical condition, it also will have to be closed in six to seven years. There also is the Piscataqua River which is not for local traffic it is for a highway.

My opinion is we should first replace the memorial bridge and make it wider then see if another is still needed. If another bridge is needed the Sarah Mildred Long bridge would have no lift and make it last longer. That is my plan about the bridge crisis.

Stock Market Summary

Article posted May 13, 2010 at 02:41 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1240

Stock Market Summary

I invested in three different companies in the stock market hoping to make a fair profit. My first company is Isis Pharmaceuticals, I chose this company because it was in health care and healthcare is becoming more important daily and it was a market mover. My second company is Coca Cola bottling company, I invested in Coke because it is a very large, stable and fast growing company. My third company is Pepsi company, I chose Pepsi because it is a quickly growing company that is very stable. Those are the reasons I chose to invest in those companies.

My stock stock portfolio was good but could be improved and made perfect. My first company Isis Pharmaceuticals was not very stable but I recovered most of my money but lost $2.73 I would have not invested in it. My second company Pepsi co. it was a very good investment I would have invested all my money in it if I had the choice. My third company was an okay investment I made a good amount but I wish I could have sold it earlier because it was three dollars higher. Over all I made a great profit but I could have made more.

I have a good amount of advice about buying, selling and the amount of shares for your stocks. My advise about buying a stock is look at the previous prices of the stock, and do your research. My advice about the amount of shares to buy is the more stable the company is the more shares you buy. My Advice for selling is do the math see how much money you are making and if you are making a lot sell. That's my advice for working with stocks I may be young but that's a lot of advice.

Article posted May 12, 2010 at 02:15 PM GMT • comment • Reads 1102

One day in the summer of 2006 me my mom and my brother where going to get Joe's New York pizza and all the sudden whoosh a wicked strong wind knocks down a tree right behind are car luckily we did not get very far from are house so my my ran over to two trees with the suburban and we drove in the driveway. My mom told my brother to open the door to put the car in the garage but he didn't so I did. We ran down into the basement where we where in for about ten minutes. for the next two day's I spent most my time at my neighbors because they have a generator and I spend most my time there anyways. The final night we went to my dad's friends and everyone showered then we came back and the power was back.

Men's ski-cross

Men's Ski-Cross

This fast growing sport gets it origin from motocross and down hill skiing. The ski-cross track has jumps, rollers (smooth repeating bumps) and up to one hundred eighty degree turns. The goal in the sport is who ever can cross the finish line first. In this sport a lot of pros don't even cross the finish line because this sport is extremely dangerous. The reason this sport is so dangerous is because four people are very close together going over jumps and going 55+mph with very tight turns. And that is what ski-cross is.

In ski-cross the U.S.A. has never got a medal but knowing The people of the U.S.A. we will probably come back in 2014 dominating with more people on the team. Ski-cross skiers are usually former racers or free stylists. Both of the American skiers crashed in the 1/8th final and didn't go on to the finals leaving all Americans in disappointment. As usual the Swiss person won ski-cross I bet (American) Daron Rahlves would have won if he didn't crash because he was the fastest in the practice runs. The other American ,Casey Puckett, is very consistent but had a bad day at the Olympics, what a shame. All the Europeans did very well in ski-cross. The Canadian had a very good day and made it to the final; 70% luck 30% skill. That is what happened at the Vancouver in men's ski-cross.

Roman's in Scotland

Article posted February 19, 2010 at 02:06 AM GMT • comment • Reads 1226

My name is Travacis Pastranacis I am a Roman soldier in Scotland. In this document I will be talking to you about my experience in Scotland when I was younger. I'm going to talk about the Roman Barracks, the Roman soldier, Celtic soldier and, the Celtic village. The Roman's captured Gaul(France) then are army tried to capture the Celtic people in Scotland. This country was cold, the Roman's never captured Scotland because the harsh weather was hard on the soldiers.

The soldiers in the two armies are totally different, one army is full of highly trained soldiers, the other army was full of barbaric men that have weapons that scare people more than hurt them. The Roman soldier had specially designed armer so he could not get hit in his weak spots there for making the Roman soldier unstoppable, but some how the Celtic's held the territory of Scotland. The Celtic soldier had no armer except a crummy helmet and a shield. The Celtic soldier also has a short sword and a spear like the Roman soldier, but the Roman soldier had higher quality weapons. Some how the Celtic soldier fought off the Roman's and saved they're country.

Now we're talking about the shelter each of the civilizations use. Again Rome really out did The Celtic's. The Roman barracks had a door at the south, west,North and, East and two half's so if the barracks is attacked they only have to defend half of it. The barracks was not very comfortable believe me, but the bath housing was very great. Now the Celtic village is really junky compared to the Roman barracks. The Celtic village was a couple of huts and was as high-tech as Rome nine hundred years ago. The village had a wood picket like fence around it with their animals around it. the to living "areas" are totally different even though the Romans are building temporary barracks.

As you see us Romans are much better then those barbaric Celtic's. Are soldiers are trained and disciplined. They're soldiers are just crazy and lucky to live. Are barracks have baths and toilets and wiping utensil's. They're villages have rivers and for wiping utensil's they had they're hands, ugh disgusting. As you the Celtic's way of life is far in-superior compared to us Roman's.

What Fog Means To Me

What Fog Means To Me

Fog is like when I'm going as quick as I can

through a single-track,

I've never ridden ever!

Thin wispy fog is like

when I fall in my own bicycle-track,

for no apparent reason.

Whiteout fog is like when my parents yell at me to stop

right before

I'm about to do an outrageous stunt.
