Life as a 5th grader

Article posted May 28, 2010 at 08:21 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 924

Introduction
Your year in 5th grade will be full of exciting and challenging moments. If there is one thing that you should know about 5th grade is there are classroom expectations just like 5th grade. There will also be many challenges throughout the year. It will take a lot to survive 5th grade so we have some survival tips for 5th grade. You will have a lot of opportunities to be social and to communicate with others. There are many fun things in 5th grade and you will be busy in doing fun things. You will read about in my essay on 5th grade.

Classroom Expectations
These are my three classroom expectations for 5th grade. One is be prepared for class. If you are not prepared for class than you will get a late. Another one is stay above the line. Like all of your grades before 5th grade is no different so stay above the line and everything will run smoothly. The last one is being honest. If you are honest people will believe you and will not be questioned. Those are my three Classroom expectations for 5th grade.

Challenges
These are my three challenges for 5th grade. One challenge is big projects. Big projects are a challenge because we have a lot of projects and don’t always have a lot of time to do them. Another one is essay questions. In 5th grade you have essay questions that are mostly for social studies and if you don’t study them you will probably get them wrong. My last challenge is homework. You have a lot more homework than you did in 4th grade. These are my three challenges for 5th grade.

Survival Tips
These are my three survival tips for 5th grade. One survival tip is don’t make up excuses. You don’t want to make up excuses because if you do you will be in a whole lot of trouble. Another one is always be prepared for class. You want to be prepared for class because if you aren’t you will probably get a late so be prepared for class. My last one is getting your homework done. You want to get your homework done because getting a late isn’t a whole lot funner than getting a late in 4th grade. Those are my survival tips for 5th grade.

Social situations
These are three good social points from 5th grade. One social situation were the bathrooms. I think the bathrooms were a problem because they were being vandalized and it was very inappropriate. Another one is many projects. The many projects we did took social skills because if you were not social with your group then the project might not turn out well. My last one is partner time. I picked partner time because you have a lot of partner time in 5th grade so you have to communicate well to get your work done. Those are 3 social points from 5th grade.

Favorite moments
These are my three favorite moments from 5th grade. One of my favorite moment’s Fort Snelling. I liked it because it was cool to go to somewhere that was used in the Civil war. Another favorite moment was when we had the geography Bee. I liked it because it was fun to do geography things against your fellow classmates. . My last favorite moment was when we did the 13 colonies project. I liked that project because I like stuff to do with geography and history. These are my three favorite moments from 5th grade.

Concluding
That has been a lot of my 5th grade year. You have seen the exciting and challenging moments. You have seen the expectations and you have seen the social situations. But you have also seen the one you probably like the best which are favorite moments. That is the life of a 5th grader and you will have a blast!

World cup, world cup 2010
South Africa is where it’s at
You want to win it really bad
Because if you don’t you’ll be really sad
32 teams
But one captures it all
It is one month of four years
Where all countries unite the whole time
And there is no fright for anyone
You don’t want to miss it
It is a must see
Because it is
THE GREATEST THING ON EARTH

Snow falls on the ground
Nowhere is not covered with a foot of snow
On top of everything there is snow
When I go outside to play I am attaccked by a wave of chill
Yell and yell as we go down the hill

DING goes the microwave when the hot chocolate is done
And what an awesome day as sit by the fire
Yes I say and another is coming

Snow is falling
From the sky above
Snow is falling
Put on scarf and glove

Snow is falling
Go look outside
Snow is falling
The old landscape it hide

Snow is falling
What a beautiful sight
Snow is falling
It sparkles in the light

Snow is falling
Soft cotton wool flakes
Snow is falling
A white blanket it makes

Snow is falling
Short flowers disappear
Snow is falling
The cold is here

Snow is falling
Its time to play
Snow is falling
Lets make snowmen today

The Incredible dream

Article posted February 3, 2010 at 06:54 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 191

He can picture it in his mind every time he goes down the slope. Three small town kids with a big city dream. That was almost destroyed by him. The tragedy included air masks, ambulances, and there was almost permanent damage. He knows the only answer to the next wrong turn OVER!
Daniel, Jose, and Romano loved bobsledding ever since they were little. But that dream has taken them farther than they ever imagined. Now they are in the Jamaican trials. They are by far the favorite the way they move so fluently. Nobody thought they had a chance until they saw them and nobody thought they could win. Racing down the slope so fast, so fast you couldn’t catch your breath. Yes, that’s what it felt like. Racing down the snowy hill all the way to the top of the podium. The sweet smell of victory and it was so close, one turn away. To the average bobsledder you would think you had won. Just ease to the finish line but not them not even close. They came into that last turn with so much determination that it looked like they eased in but they didn’t. “To be a bobsledder you can’t give up” said Daniel. They got first place by a landslide and the Olympic adventure began. Now it is the Olympics and everyone is psyched. Team Jamaica runs around the track with the Jamaican flag held up proudly. Now the race has began they are the first to go it is going real well and Daniel, Jose, and Romano finish with a great score and are in first place for round one and will be first going into round two (here are the standings). Jamaica 1st, Norway 2nd, USA 3rd, Canada 4th, Sweden 5th, Poland 6th. After the race they get ready for round two and soon it is round two. They are going last and they just have to be like they did the last run and they will be fine. They get done with their run but when they look at the score their face drops. They are tied with Norway and it only gets worse. The next day when they are going on a practice run they are going so fast that they can’t control themselves and then Romano falls off and at that speed he wasn’t okay. They called the ambulance and the ambulance picked Romano up. It left Daniel and Jose wondering if they could still compete. The next day they checked into Romano’s hospital and the doctor says he is doing fine and will be on his feet by tomorrow but will he be able to compete at such a high level. The next day they hire a trainer to help Romano. Miraculously after about five or six days Romano is feeling well and just in time for the final round. A couple days later they are tense yet joyful for it is the final round and it is really Norway V.S Jamaica. Nobody really doesn’t know who will win but Norway has gotten a whole lot more practice so the edge is kind of leading more to Norway. They have seen so far that the slope has been very smooth and no one has had any trouble on the course. They are then the last to go. Norway has a great score (54.87) and Jamaica is really going to have to have a great run to win. They get ready to go down the slope and then BOOM! They fly down the slope and are doing real well they are all turning into each turn not too much and not too little but just right. They are getting near the finish line now and turn on the afterburners flying down the slope so fast across the finish line. When they look up at the score it read 54.86. Daniel, Romano, and Jose celebrated and collected their gold medals with joy as gold medal winners.

Epilogue
The next two years they would get gold in bob sledding and the next two years after that they would get silver at bobsledding. When they retired from their bobsledding career, Daniel would become a famous bobsledding manager that would coach many bobsledding winners. Jose would move to Colorado where he could continue winter activities such as skiing, snowboarding, and if he could find a slope bobsledding. Romano would become a casino owner in his native Jamaica and would become a millionaire. However, they always will remember when they are on the top of the podium with their gold medals representing their countries as bobsled kings of the world.

My weekend

Article posted December 1, 2009 at 12:09 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 408

During the long weekend I did many things but this was my favorite. During the long weekend I went down to Northern Iowa for an Express game. The fans there were very ecstatic and I thought they might get ejected from the game. Right when the whistle blew it was game on. The first one to score a goal though was Northern Iowa. The puck just ejected out of his stick with speed and there was no way the goalie was going to stop it. But come 3rd period and the score was 3-3. With about 1:00 left in the game Northern Iowa pulled its goalie with 0:30 left in the game it was 5-4 Express but not for long. The Northern Iowa guy shot the puck but it was rejected by the goalie. The Express guy got the puck and scored and that was the final score 6-4.

Soccer

Article posted October 20, 2009 at 08:14 PM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 264

The ball is going down the field at breathtaking speed. Everyone on the other team is doing all they can to not let him score. He sets up and takes a shot so powerful it was like a raging bull flying through the air at the goalie. He did everything he could to block the shot but it wasn’t happening. It hit the back of the net with so much force it was like the net was going to snap. These are just people playing soccer and they are just getting warmed up.

Soccer is a very fun sport and I have been playing it from a very young age. My mom and dad both played travel soccer when they were younger so I’ve really grown up into soccer. I’m still pretty young but I have been wanting to be in professional soccer since I was 3. My favorite soccer player is Kaka he is on the Brazilian national team and his club team is Real Madrid in Spain. My nickname for soccer is Kaka because everyone knows he is my favorite player (I also have his jersey). There has been many great soccer players like Pele and Maradona and there are also current stars like Messi, Kaka, and Christiano Ronaldo.

Soccer is a great sport and I encourage you to try it I will be writing more stories about sports and I hope you read them.

The 13 colonies have made a big impact on me. For many reasons like, houses are built better because what the 13 colonies did before. Also mainly the way of living because they are like our teachers and we follow in their footsteps. What they did made a big impact on probably everybody in the United States because we wouldn’t have jobs and we wouldn’t know what to do if they wouldn’t have come. The 13 colonies have made a big impact on a lot of people in the United States and even more.

My favorite book is called Blood Fever. It is in the young Bond series. (I have all of the books) It`s about James Bond in his teenage years going on a school trip to an island and finding out that trouble is going on at the island. He also finds out that one of his classmate’s sister has been kidnapped and is being held captive at the island. So while his classmates are having fun at the island he is trying to find out where the girl is being held captive. While doing this he finds where she is but then he gets kidnapped. He then escapes to a place that is going to attack the island but all of his classmate’s are there so he makes a plan to save everyone but still destroy the island. In the end he saves all of his classmate’s and the girl and it all ended well.

On The School Bus

Article posted September 22, 2009 at 08:02 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 89

On the school bus it is very chaotic and energetic. People do practically everything and the driver acts very weird at times. Also people will act inappropriately even the little kids. But then again it’s a school bus and when there are no teachers around people can get pretty freaky even when there is a bus driver who is an adult. As you probably know there are creepy buses and clean nice buses and if you have been reading this whole thing are bus is a creepy bus. I’ve been on this bus since I was in kindergarten so I have been dealing with this for a pretty long time so I am used to it now. The bus I go on though can also be fun like when he puts a good song on the radio and starts cranking up the music and everybody starts dancing around and having a good time. We have had 3 different permanent bus drivers so there are no long-term commitments on our bus. So that is a little bit about my bus
