It's hard to believe that the year is already coming to an end! We have had a fantastic year and looking through all of the pictures as I put this slideshow together has really made me see just how much everyone has grown and changed over the course of the year. I have really enjoyed this year and wish everyone a safe and happy summer. See you in September!

Our entire school will be participating in a Read-A-Thon this Friday afternoon, May 7th. Pledge forms were sent home last week. Students are encouraged to collect pledges and return the form on Friday. We have a few incentives to encourage students to collect pledges! If our school raises $3000, we will get to buy one Wii system to be used in our school and Mr. Bisson will dress up as a clown! If our school raises $5000 dollars, we will get o purchase 2 Wii systems to be used in our school and the top 6 fundraisers will get to throw pie in Mr. Bisson's face!

Throughout this year, Mrs, Ferrari has been teaching the students problem solving skills. One of the issues we have discussed is how to deal with bullies. Last week, we spent some time learning about the best way to deal with bullies. We even showed our commitment to end bullying by participating in Pink Shirt Day on Wednesday. We learned:
- Don't fight!
- Do stand up to your bully and tell them how you feel
- Do get help from an adult!
- Do walk away and ignore the bully

We have started our new unit in math about Measurement. We have been practicing putting things in order from longest to shortest and also from shortest to longest. We have also been practicing using different classroom items to measure objects. For example, we have used paperclips, cubes and markers to measure our books, bins and papers. Practice measuring at home by counting how many steps it takes to get from the couch to the TV, or by placing toys in order from the shortest to the longest. Also try out the links to the measurement games on the left!
Have fun!

It's hard to believe that time is flying by so quickly and we are already heading into Term 3! We have now completed our Social Studies Unit on Mapping and are now starting a new Science unit about Structures. In math we are continuing to work on Unit 7. We have been exploring number patterns and are now learning about how addition and subtraction are related to each other. For example, we are learning that knowing that 3+3=6 can help is figure out the answer for 6-3. We will continue exoploring this concept this week, including some problem solving involving addition and subtraction.
Just a few reminders as we head into April:
- If you have not already done so, please sign and return the 3rd page of the report cards. Parent-Teacher interviews will take place on the evening of April 22 and the morning or April 23rd. If you would like to have an interview with me, please fill out and return the form that was sent home with the report cards. If you would like to schedule an interview, but are unable to attend on one of these dates, please let me know and I would be happy to meet with you at another mutually convenient time.
- Please return any Life Touch money and order forms by the end of the week. If you do not wish to order any pictures, please return the pictures that were sent home.
Enjoy your week!

We had a fantastic time this afternoon on our field trip to Children's Safety Village. We learned a great deal about fire safety! We came away with some homework:
1. Check and test our smoke alarms.
2. Create and practice an escape route using the blank floor plan sent home!

Just a reminder that tomorrow is the 100th day of school! Students should bring in their projects to share with the class. I can't wait to see them!
The last day to buy candygrams is tomorrow. They are being sold for 50 cents each.
Lastly, with Valentine's Day coming up, I'm sure some students are planning on bringing in valentines for their classmates. A class list will be sent home on Thursday with your child to help them with this. Treats are welcome, just keep in mind that we are a nut-free school.
